I just discovered your channel through a recommended video in my feed and I’m so happy and fortunate to have found you. Your tutorials are excellent and such a welcome change of pace. Every single other Ae tutorial I’ve come across has been so badly presented, long-winded and frustratingly boring. Yours are so short, snappy and to the point and save so much time. Thank you, and please keep up the great work! My Ae skills just improved dramatically in about 20 minutes of watching your videos.
Thank you very much, Ben! Your channel is amazing. If I can make a suggestion, however, I think that that punching sound you put in the transitions got a little repetitive (but it's just a detail). Your video helped me a lot, thanks!
Ben i want to say that your tutorials are just the best and so helping and you are such a sincere person and always keeping that good vibe which leads me to watch even more videos of you so keep it up man, you're amazing!
I've been working with After Effects since the late 90s and I'm amazed at how much more there is to learn. I only knew about one of the tips you mentioned lol. Thank you for this great information and your clear teaching style! :)
love that everyone is getting something different out of this video. that last tip made me go "OHHHHHHHHHH WHAT". gonna rub the paint off my alt button over the next few months.
Thanks so much! when someone first showed me that I almost fell of my chair. it was perfect for the the project at the time. So many times the client comes back wiht "we need more time, can this be 40% slower."
@@BenMarriott Thank YOU so much for sharing all of this knowledge with the community :´) Every awesome human who has a YT channel dedicated to tutorials of any kind is a saint in my eyes.
Great Stuff Man! I am really appreciating how much work you are putting in your videos. I have really learned a lot just from the few videos that you have posted. I can't wait for your next video! Cheers!
Thanks for your great tutorials. Sometimes you are a bit fast for a newbie like me but playing at 75% speed in TH-cam helps - although it makes you sound like you are on some weird drugs. I watched your Stop Motion Avocado tut and got a nice chuckle at how surprised you were when the 'extreme' bevel alpha didn't look as terrible as you thought it would.
I loved the video! One thing I jut wanted to point out about the last tip...when you alt drag, keys can fall between frames and so far I haven't found a super convenient way to easily get them back on a "propper" position :/ :)
Yo hi ben!may i ask you something?how do people make super cool animations with illustrator and after effects?do you guys learn by yourselves?how do you do it?!i want to learn the same things but i don't know how :(
Hiya! ask anything! always! I learned animation from online tutorials and slowly adding more and more animation gradually into my work. I studied design at university :)
Thank you very much Ben! Amazing tutorial, one of my favorites! Please do make more in this format. I didn’t know many of these tips!
Thank man! So glad you found it useful. I'll definitely make another one in the format in the future. Thanks so much for the support
That "+value" tip is a godsend, bless you Ben
Thanks man! Yeah I learned that one not too long ago and I've been using it all over the place. :D
Agreed... for years I wish I knew about this...
0:08 The parent trap
0:53 Override expressions
1:19 Extend edges
1:42 Same comp, different colours
2:39 Better vignettes
3:21 Round corners on anything
3:50 Add stroke to anything
4:16 Smooth motion paths
4:33 Universal roughen
5:04 Stretch keyframes
Ben Marriott the hero we need but not the hero we deserve.

I like how you are to the point, not taking half of the video setting it up
Haha, Thanks so much! "Alright to create a new composition press command, wait, first we need to open after effects. Enter your Adobe log-in ID...."

The +value trick is what I needed a long time
To add a stroke you can also go to Layer Styles > Add > Stroke and change it’s properties on the layer (it defaults red)

Btw in the tip #5 another way to expand the mask is by going to the mask properties and expand the mask.
Thanks so much! Excellent tip :D
Bro this is awesome tips and pretty much useful. Especially the part with rotation expressions. And Toner probably saves me a lot of time someday.
