    Web design has been something I've experimented since I was 13. I really love it. I'm currently in my third year studying Computer Science, and I would really love to go into front end development instead of back-end. However, because I'm studying Computer Science, I'm obviously only learning the coding side of things, not so much the "design". I really want to know more about the design side as well so I can understand the best of both worlds. Your videos are incredibly helpful to me! I draw a lot, and love that, I'm hoping that will help me a bit too. You're an inspiration to me Charli, I really admire you. :)

      Chloe Rose that's awesome Chloe!! I'm trying to get my head around 'teaching' videos like this one so that I can start to make some about design principles and stuff because it sounds like it will really come in handy for you to learn design thinking alongside your development skills. drawing will definitely help a lot, cos you'll be instinctively thinking about composition which is a HUGE part of design :)

      You're honestly a great teacher, that's why I enjoy your videos; you make things easy to understand. That's incredibly kind of you, yes they will come in SO handy! I enjoy every video you put out there :) Thanks for putting out consistently amazing content :D

    Really great process. We're redesigning a page, so I am going to audit the content and then work from that list. The Crazy 8s idea on tabloid paper is fantastic for brainstorming! The bigger the paper, the more space your brain feels it has to get those ideas out!

  • @smayjay
    @smayjay 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    I always find it interesting to see how people come up with ideas, I really like the idea of almost "emptying your brain" of all possible ideas in order to find the perfect one :)

    • @charlimarieTV
      @charlimarieTV  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Smay Prangley yeah! You feel silly at first when you come up with something that is obviously not going to work... but it isn't obvious until you put it on paper so it's good to get it out of your head so you can move on from it!

    Loved this. I've been really caught up on the idea that I need to find the right wireframing software to use and have kind of let that blind me to the fact that the process is much slower if you don't start by hand (which also would discourage me from exploring alternatives - an area I have problems with already). I've got a small series of notes from this that I think will help me out a lot.

      @@charlimarieTV Your video was indeed helpful and when I said "whatever I said" that was a form of complement to you as a person, you are content creator and being one of your viewers and followers I personally think there's nothing wrong with it and if that bothers you imma just take that back and no I value your content more than your appearance so that's not what I'm after nor looking for. Anyways its entirely upto you how you percieve it, just smile and get on with your day. Anyways cheers. Stay healthy and safe. Adios!

    Loved this video! I love web design, but I'm really inexperienced with it. I mostly use pre-made themes for my blog, and then customize them as much as possible, because I know nothing about building one from scratch. My main issue is that every time I redesign my blog, about 2 months later I end up super unhappy with it and feel like I need to totally re-do it. Do you have any tips on how to settle on a brand / theme and layout for a blog or website? I guess I'm just really fickle, I dunno. Haha.

    • @charlimarieTV
      @charlimarieTV  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      katherinethe19th ooo I definitely have some advice for this! The purpose of design is to solve a problem, so think about what problems you want your blog design to solve (eg: make it easy to read posts, easy to find categories, keep people on your site by offering more content to read when they finish one post, that sort of thing) then use design to find solutions to those problems. If you're feeling like you can't settle on something it's probably because you haven't found the best solution to the problem yet so keep trying, and remember that the simpler option is generally going to be the best one! :)

    I start my UI/UX program in January, but I began watching you before I knew you were a designer! I also use the "8 fold" method when designing logos. I love just starting out with a pen and paper! I also get to carried away with how things are aligned if I start on the computer. I usually end up using a different and better design than I originally thought I was going for. This video was really helpful! I was wondering if you would recommend any books on UI/UX design? Or coding? I think it would also make a great video!

    • @charlimarieTV
      @charlimarieTV  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haleigh Taylor that's awesome that you use this process for logo design too! :) I will have a think about books to recommend. I don't own any myself, and prefer to just learn online, but a few people have asked for a video like that so I need to do some research and buy some books to recommend some. thanks for the suggestion!

    Hi there, Thanks a lot for this very useful tutorial. I was wondering what is the soft you're using right after (03:52) ? Do you have any "free" recommendation for this part too (I'm a student). Thanks'n keep rockin' !

    I never really do the design stage. I just skip it. I really enjoy your content. Could you possibly do a Adobe illustration tutorial? I find your way of talking and telling me and everyone else really interesting and I've tried to find other tutorials but it just doesn't skin in. Keep making the awesome content! 😊

      +Mr Elliot Coates that's really great feedback! Thanks Elliot :) What in particular would you like to learn how to do in Illustrator?

    • @MrElliotCoates
      @MrElliotCoates 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for my slow reply. Been ever so busy with my photography course work. I've only used Illustrator once or twice and I only copied my designs into Illustrator rom photoshop. Maybe a video on the basics? How to setup your work and use the different functions? Thanks :)
