  • alnk.to/8PzL8af (View on Osprey) Osprey has launched a NEW version of the popular Farpoint and Fairview travel packs: the Farpoint Trek and Fairview Trek.
    Farpoint Trek on Amazon: amzn.to/2XVfqHY
    Fairview Trek on Amazon: amzn.to/2Y8DX06
    After having faithfully used the Farpoint 55 for 3 years of nomadic travel, I tested this pack out on a trip to Patagonia a few months ago, and I think it's brilliant. Watch to see why.
    Fairview and Farpoint Trek Features Include:
    - Deep water bottle holders (x2) - Can fit full size Nalgene and bigger, comfortably without risk of sliding out.
    - Two top zipper pockets - Easy access for small items.
    - Airporter cover included - This doubles as a rain cover and travel case, the entire pack fits inside and can be zipped up for protection while in transit.
    - Integrates with Osprey Daylite Travel - While the Fairview Trek and Farpoint Trek no longer come with a detachable daypack, they are made to integrate with the Daylite Travel, both by clipping onto the front side straps or attached to the main compartment panel on the back for an easy carry.
    - Mesh back panel and comfortable suspension - Adjustable torso straps and mesh back panel for air ventilation make this a super comfortable carry, even when packed heavy.
    - Measures 24" when packed full - A bit "too big" for carry on restrictions, however I believe you can get away with it if you just don't pack the top too full.
    - Spacious main compartment - 50 liters compared to the traditional Farpoint 55's main compartment which was 40 liters.
    Full review including side by side comparison with Farpoint 55 at travelingjacki...

    You mention briefly that you liked it on the trails, can you tell us more about how comfortable it was on multi-day treks? I've been looking everywhere for a backpack that would serve both city and trail traveling well and I'm soooooo pumped about this option.

      Glad you enjoyed it! Unfortunately this color was a sample color, so you cannot purchase it. The available colors are black, blue, grey, and amulet purple, depending on Farpoint or Fairview.

    Thank you very much for the video.
    I travel with an Osprey Porter 46 as a carry-on and I just desperately want something best a better carrying harness. It is the worst feature of the Porter 46, other than that it is a great bag!
    My main complaint with the Farpoint 40/55 is that the notebook compartment is not well situated. The weight is not distributed optimally and the notebook screen can crack because of the compression straps. I think I'll just try the Fairview Trek 50 in a store to check if it fits, even though I am a man.The Farpoint 55 Trek exceeds the carry-on limits too much. The Fairview Trek 50 will probably pass most airports as you've said.
    - How do you carry a notebook when you have only 1 bag and make sure it doesn't get damaged/bend? The notebook in the daylite travel and the daylite travel stuffed into the Fairview trek?
    - How are the shoulder straps? They look like they are less comfortable than the Farpoint 40/55 ones.
    Thanks in advance.

    "I bought the Fairview Trek 50 women's model because I noticed it's smaller than the Fairview Trek 55 for men. Is there a genuine difference since it's designed for women, or can a man use it as well?"

    • @TravelingJackie
      @TravelingJackie  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As long as it's comfortable, anyone could use it! They don't come in the same colors, but they are both very adjustable throughout the torso and around the waist. Good luck!

    • @TravelingJackie
      @TravelingJackie  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I've carried it on to Europe and South America and back, no problems! Just keep it away from scales, keep it on your back so no one questions it. Also, using a smaller personal item will draw less attention, but it fits fine in all the overhead bins in my experience, only issue would be weight if you're over and an airline were to require that you weight it.

      Yes it can! I just measured with my 13", which is 9" wide, and I think the 15" is only 1" wider, there is definitely space, and it is long enough for 15" and spare room as well.

I am wondering, 3 years later, do you still use this backpack as your main bag? Or have you switched to another?

    Helpful review - planning on purchasing a nice pack for my girlfriend, has this pack been comfortable for multi-day trekking? Trying to decide between this and the Osprey Ariel - these "travel" packs just look like they make packing/unpacking so much easier!

    • @TravelingJackie
      @TravelingJackie  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, this pack is super, SUPER comfortable for me. The Ariel is another backpacking legend in the Osprey lineup, the biggest difference is the entire main compartment zip on the Fairview, which makes finding everything and unpacking/packing SO much easier with the Fairview. No more scraped arms and frustration from "feeling for things" all throughout the pack - but with either one I also very highly recommend packing cubes to make the packing/finding process even easier.

    • @TravelingJackie

      The Daylite Travel attaches, both by the compression straps and the four little hooks on the corners of the back panel with corresponding loops on the Trek, but the Plus does not.

    hi Jackie! I am about to order this bag just had a question. Does the metal frame extend to the whole 24" in height when empty? Can I squish it down to 23.5" if I remove the aircover? I am gifting this to my friend so was wondering if it would fit in my suitcase with a 24" height when put in empty. Please let me know! Thanks

    • @TravelingJackie

    Hey there, might seem like a strange question, but I'm a guy and I'm considering buying this model instead of the slightly larger Farpoint Trek 55. Is there anything about this that would make it LESS comfortable for a man than the Farpoint? Any guys you know tried both? Cheers!

    • @TravelingJackie
      @TravelingJackie  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't think that's strange! If you can get to an REI or other outdoor retailer that sells osprey packs, you can try them on to see if there's a difference, but I don't think it would be that different. The torso is adjustable up and down as well, I think you're good to go!

    Will this be carry on size?

    • @TravelingJackie
      @TravelingJackie  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Like I mentioned, it's technically too big for carry-on (24"), but as long as it's not packed ridiculously full, you should be able to get by with it as a carry-on. The soft pockets on top are what make it too big, so be careful with filling those pockets and you should be fine.

  • @kjj9563

    Thanks so much for showing this, I've been desperate for photos of it! :) Is there only 1 small pocket on the outside? Does the large interior have any small pockets or compartments?

    • @TravelingJackie
      @TravelingJackie  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You are welcome!! Great questions. There are the two top zips on the outside, plus the big pocket on the main panel. That's it. On the inside there are no main panel pockets (like there used to be in the Farpoint Travel), but there is one small zip pocket on one of the compression flaps. Hope that helps, thank you for asking!
