    for a modern version, food safe paraffin wax would be a better choice as it has a higher melting temp than beeswax and will not deform in the summer heat as easily.

      If the is higher it is definitly a good idea! Thank you for sharing :)

      Could also use conifer resin (pine, spruce, etc) for the glue. And natural fat (not store bought)(bear, racoon, deer, etc) would be best for interior and exterior.

    How long do these last before they start to leak? You should make a leather bladder for a CamelBak.

    • @NilsBeardfoot
      @NilsBeardfoot  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Not sure yet, depends much on if they are dropped often on the ground and the amount of wax used, but even if they do leak you could heat up the wax and close any leaks

    Thank you for making and sharing the video. Is there a temperature you like the wax to be?

    • @NilsBeardfoot
      @NilsBeardfoot  ปีที่แล้ว

      Only as hot as it needs to be completly melted, higher could be at some point make the leather shrink

      @@NilsBeardfoot my bottle turned out great. Gotta clean it up a bit using the heat gun to chase the extra wax down and off the bottle. All and all, I’m very happy with it. Thank you

    Would there be any issues storing alcohol in this? I'm thinking of making one for my father in law who enjoys mead.

    • @NilsBeardfoot
      @NilsBeardfoot  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That is a very good question, in theory strong alcohol can desolve wax over time. So currently I can not give you any guarantee, but I started a little test with some 40% Vodka and some bees wax in it. In a view days I may can tell you what happend.
      If the alcohol is ony in for some hours or a day, I would expect nothing to happen

    • @brennenderopa

      @@NilsBeardfoot Was there a problem storing alcohol in it? I do not think Vodka can touch bees wax but I have an open mind.
