Native Instruments sent over their new Maschine Expansion "Lockdown Grid" and synth "Super 8," I'll be using both of them in this video to show you how to make beats on the Maschine Mikro MK3. This is a beginner tutorial and if you'd like me to go over anything specific, I can do that in a more advanced tutorial.

Sorry for the audio issues in this video. I spent hours trying to fix it and it just didn’t happen. Hopefully you are still able to learn something from this and remember once we hit 10,000 subs I’m giving away all those native instruments plugins from the thanksgiving contest. To help us get there faster, please share this video with people you think might benefit from this info. 🙏🏼

@@CourtneyHawkinsI'm new user of maschine soft+hardware. Sometime I feel it is full of bugs or I don't understand it I end up only using the pads to play and the mouse. I kind of skip the interest of having a faster workflow! for example the shift+PAD1...16 are not working, changing octave is always not easy. Maybe I need to do more combinaison of buttons.
Also I find it hard to be creative with the performance options
I don't have the full version of Maschine(only select) I don't the money for now so maybe that is why I don't enjoy myself so much :)
One more thing, is how to LIVE LOOP, I manage to do it with my mic or external source but from my instruments or sound from maschine in the same time. Maybe easier to do it inside Ableton
thanks good luck for your channel you seem to have something in mind after your 10K

Hello. First of all, nice video. I am also a beginner in Micro MK3. I have two questions if you would be so nice to help me figure out. First question is: Can I select a custom pattern length (size)? When I try to make a beat, the ending on the pattern is not always aligned properly, meaning that you can hear when beat (pattern) starts repeating. That means that I have to spend manually adjusting the beat so it has the continuous flow. Hope I described that correctly :) My second question is about the kits. You have an option to listen to the (demo) beat on the kits using the knob. It would be nice if I could load and EDIT the beats Meaning - to see how they are plotted in the pattern. Would help me a lot seeing how the beats are made. Hope my questions are valid and clear ... I wish you all the best!

Courtney Hotkins, that was a very very good tutorial. Honestly the best. Totally sub'd keep up the great work... Oh just one little teensy weensy idea that would make it a little easier for us to follow along would be decrease your monitor resolution while screen casting. It will look kinda lame on your likely super dope widescreen monitor but for us it will make everything in the Maschine app bigger and easier to read. Still despite that nit, I could totally follow along. Going to go check out what other videos you made. PPS; video length, cadence, delivery, shooting style: all on point. Usually I have to 2x speed videos to tolerate watching them. Thanks again.

I love watching your videos, learning so much through them. Especially the MPK Mini ones and Logic Pro. However i'm running into some issues, that i can't seem to find solutions for in the videos you have up. Maybe you can assist. I use Logic Pro X, and mostly EXS24 sampler and Ultrabeat, and use my MPK Mini as a midi controller. After trying to follow other videos PAD and Knob mapping tutorials, i feel like my MPK is all messed up now for how i want to use it. I could really use basic programming video, or re-programming vid, for the MPK, specifically to use with those parts of Logic Pro X. The MPK editor is so confusing to use with mapping the pads the way i want. I'd like the have the pad mapped to use with identical to first 8 spots in EXS24 and Ultrabeat too. lastly my other issue is that some of my keys don't have the same touch sensitivity as others...i'm not sure how i messed that up. HELP Please lol....anybody

Do you have to use the machine mikro in the maschine software? I'm curious how this hardware works if you were to just use it as a midi controller in logic pro x. Does it still have all the same functionality (step sequencing, chords, etc) or does it always require you to be in the maschine software along with your daw of choice?

Worry about making stuff people want to listen and chill to at first rather than that. Start out with the love of doing it. Its kind of the wrong way to think about it when you start out. In fact no, worry ,about making stuff *you* would happily chill to over some professional stuff, aiming to please others can be a real drain and counter productive to your progression.

This is a good tutorial. However, the problem I see with Maschine Mikro mk3 is that the workflow seems so un-intuitive. Which is a shame as beat making is all about being in the flow. Maschine is a production platform, it’s not for live use. I get that. But with my Komplete Kontrol keyboard I don‘t have this feeling of needing to memorize tons of cryptic key combinations in order to get things going. Of course, with the mk2 keyboard the two large screens help. NI should focus on streamlining the workflow of Maschine. Ah, and offering a standalone mode.
