Animal advocates disrupt Denton City Council meeting over dog euthanized at shelter

- The dog named Gunner, who was euthanized by the city's animal shelter this month, attracted the attention of millions over that controversial decision.
With a message on signs and shirts, dozens of people packed the Denton City Council chamber demanding action over the death of Gunner inside a city animal shelter.
The animal shelter LIED when they said that a veterinarian authorized having Gunner put down. The vet said he did NOT authorize euthanasia. Criminal charges should be filed.
Even if the dog was in poor health, they should have waited for the owner to come, who was planning to pick Gunner up on Thursday since the shelter was closed on Wednesday.
Linda Mcnatt's animal care shelter did wrong for sure. They need to take responsibility for their mistakes.
This was so ridiculous !They should have had an opportunity to speak. Justice for Gunner💙

If i was that pet owner i would sue!!! And shut down that shelter so no other animal is killed!!!
This is terrible how they would give them their 4 minutes to speak. They all should loose their jobs.

The dog was in such poor health that it was able to wander off an 8 acre property...........the dog looked old not sick.

Why didn't the " shelter" give the dog back?! They knew he had an owner that was looking for him!!! Hold the shelter accountable for their actions!!!
We also need this kind of attention everywhere to get tougher laws stricter enforcing those that harm or abandon animals.
. I recall a very similar tragedy also involving a Texas shelter that happened 15 or so years ago. That story barely elicited a peep from the media or the general public. The fact that there is so much outrage over Gunner's death is an encouraging sign that the value of companion animals' lives is being taken more seriously. At least as a society it seems we are going in the right direction.
We are I trust my animals more than most people. They don't lie to you and then ask for money to keep the jobs which they don't do.

Absolutely the shelter should be held responsible for not allowing time to find the owner! Having said that, accidents happen so fast. Whether it's someone stealing a dog, something scaring a dog where they run off and get lost, or a sad ending getting hit by a vehicle so it's best to have them in a secure area or inside the home. On a leash when away from those areas.
I will always remember the neighbor that their dog accidentally got out of their fenced in yard and within minutes the dog hit letting out a LOUD SCREAM and the dog gone. I will always regret not trying to get to her before that happened. It was not even on a main road but in a quiet subdivision.
The dog tried to get out of the way after being hit but then they ran over her again 😢💔

I would be just as devastated over the loss of my pets whether on purpose or an accident.

The complete story is on the TH-cam the real Paul mueller. The man dropped him off at the shelter lied about where he picked him up. The vet prescribed 3 days of gabapentin which was probably the biggest reason he pooped on himself. The management team of shelter made the decision to euthanize him not the vet. They have continually lied. It would not surprise me if they just wanted Gunners prescription. Gabapentin can be used to get high. I researched it when they out my Great Dane on it.
These people should look into some of that acts that PETA does.

Dog had on a tracking collar , all they had to do was plug it into a usb port to charge for a bit to access the dog’s info and also allow the owners to track it . They didn’t care enough to do this . 😡
lmao wdym? the owner called and said he’d be in to get him but they were closed that day. he came the next day and they gave him his dog in a red trash bag without even saying what they did

I certainly agree the animal control department should have made an effort to contact the owner of the dog. People have an emotional attachment to their dogs that is natural and has a scriptural basis. Geneses 1:28,29 indicates that humans were BLESSED with the authority and responsibility of caring for the animals.
However,when I see they wasted money and energy to cremate a dog,that borders on idolatry. It is,after all a dog. Are these people as enraged over the methodical starvation of the children of Gaza as they are over an animal?

It was an outside dog. This family just wants clout. My old dog just died from prostate cancer, in his last 6 months of life he was NEVER out of my sight, not even once.
Oh, in his facebook post, he compared Children to Dogs. It was pretty sad to read.
