- The Forbidden Coast | 73 | Beau and Brandy Sailing
After that long sail to the Southern coast of Hati, all we wanted to do was sleep. But we stayed up to take in all the warm welcome from the locals. Some were looking for jobs others were selling fruit but the young boys were just looking to fight boredom. After assigning a few jobs and handing out some snacks we bought just for the kids, we crashed.
The next morning we were promptly woken by the gentleman that we hired for some much need Saoirse TLC. Then we gave away all the donations we received in George Town, BS. The next morning we were told to move as we were in the path of the regatta. Once we moved we had front row seats to a spectacular racing tradition. Then we had the village boys over for movies and snacks. We had Jasmin bring us over a hot traditional Haitian meal. It was delectable! Sadly our stay was not long as we had to keep moving east. I love your videos. I'm from Manitoba and taking sailing lessons this spring. We plan to start sailing. A year ago my wife and I spent 5 months in the DR with Everyday Ministeries. The work on the DR and Haiti. Seeing those kids brought tears to my eyes, remembering those amazing people. I love your compassion towards them.
You two and Uma definitely show what it means to be ambassadors for the US. To become so connected to the people you meet shows your true character. I couldn't agree more with your sentiments here, but I do feel bound to point out that Sailing Uma is Not an American Boat, nor are Her Crew American. Dan is Canadian, and Kika is from Haiti. But for their Countries, and Brandy and Beau for America? Yup, good Ambassadors.

You are absolutely correct. Since Uma launched from Florida and both Dan and Kika graduated from a US university I included them as honorary US Ambassadors.

As to the yacht (and having owned 3-monohulls), there was a ton of line rattling noise which can be contained. You will sleep better with that noise under control. ✨💞✨⛵️⚓️✨☺️

Brandy, the way you feel reminds me of how I felt when we flew many Boeing 737 flights into Haiti after the earthquake. Awesome video guys!
I would adopt every one of those kids and sail around the world with them and teach them everything that good. But i am poor and disabled and could never have kids and i have never really left my hometown. I feel bad my life is wasted. So do everything you can for each other. Because we are all we got.
The vision is for humanity to live in love, harmony and unity and mutual admiration. You are playing your part in helping create this dream on our planet. Hard goodbyes are a great sign. Love in separation is the strongest. Yay Love

@@BeauAndBrandy We live in Virginia and day sail and cruise out of Deltaville. If you ever come up the Chesapeake, give us a shout. Fishing bay is a very nice spot to anchor in.
the only bad part of cruising is saying goodbye. but if it wasn't for cruising all of these people wouldn't be part of your life. But the joy of cruising is leaving to meet other who will be just as friendly, just as important to you. why not start a picture wall so you can look with sweet memories every day.

You look like you would be a great teacher to these kids. Wow, I can empathize w/ you. When the heartstrings are pulled. Kids do that to you. The authenticity of their excitement, curiosity, and just loving interest. You even made me cry a little. Did u see Uma? They participated in the regatta. Those plantains sounded awesome. I'm thinking about making it now since you stated how its made. Yummy!
it was such an amazing experience. This regetta was different than the one that Kika and Dan help with. This was just a little small one from the community. Right place at the right time that they just happened to be running it when we were there.
@@BeauAndBrandy Oh wow, what timing! It looked really exciting. I know Haiti fisherman are trying to revive their fishing sport and tourism. But you guys looked like you've been having fun and did a little work at the same time. Thank you for letting the natives help you bring your boat to tip-top shape. It's a great way to give back to the community and paying them to do the work. They appreciate it immensely. Most of all thank you both for your kindness.
Many cruisers post that the boat buoys get annoying etc. I think they don't give the locals a chance to interact as people.good on you to take the time.this way both you and them are enjoying life a bit, great video. I want to go there as well. I plan to circumnavigate Cuba in next few years . I'm looking to get real experiences , apart from the tourist traps. Fair winds

um awhile back you took off your fridge. I have an 12v fridge / freezer running on 12v for the last two weeks.
what i did is this, the setup is a 120 watt solar blanket as thers very little space on my current boat and an 44 amp hour fridge battery deep cycle and
had no proplems. seems to be just the right balance. thought you to know if you are putting refrigaration back on your boat.

Where is this place again? As I watch your video I felt scared for you. With a small boat they still come and ask for stuff. What will happen if you don’t have anything to give them? Or what will do if your boat was a mega cat like the 80 sunreef eco? I think they just going to kill you for it. That is scary. I do love to watch your video. I start it from the beginning when you first start your journey. Enjoy and good luck with everything you do.

I have gone to an all electric gully.
I have an 4000/ 8000 watt inverter and that has set up the gully on my current boat to all electric. I use an 1500 watt hot plate an small electric fry pan and all ready told you about the fridge. in a couple of weeks i am getting a new set of sails and an tender. when ihave all that and new ancouring gear, i will be doing an channel of my owen. keep you up to date.
