truly. I thought they might use the music to exemplify the features. But, no, it's just there to distract from the point they're trying to make, both in the voice over and with whatever they are showing on the screen
Startling that, given Ableton's significant efforts toward accessibility with 12.x, they produce tutorials where content is compromised for vieweres by generic klingklang. Either remove the music or provide a no muzak tutorial video option.
On instruction videos, only put music in sections where I actually NEED to hear it and where it would not try to compete with the presenter for attention. The first few seconds of the video will determine if people will be drawn into it or not, be it product owners or potential new customers.
How about put music and tracks that actually exemplify what they’re actually trying to instruct, and get rid of background music entirely. Use just one track for autotune, for example. One device for variation random, for example
much appreciated! but SONG MODE PLEEEEEEASE!!! everyone I know that use push wants it. some of them migrated to mpcs and maschines because of the lack of that simple basic old feature every other competitor has. what's the big deal with that ? just create a sequencer for the scenes like maschine, mpc, everyone else ?
@@DeepDishCoffee yes is like recording the scenes in a SONG in a specific order where you can just press play and relax and listen to what you just done without having to think in anything and chill. if you ever finished an idea for a song you want that.
@@DeepDishCoffee don't know about follow actions but the name seems like a kind of automation, and it's already too much and not what I'm talking about at all. no workaround will do this very basic feature because it's so basic, that nothing can excuse the missing of it. it's like if a daw can't overdub recording but you have a workaround for that. anyone that used any groovebox/sample in the past 30 years knows what I'm talking about.
My band uses push 3 for our live setup. We take our songs in Ableton on a PC and set up scenes for them and follow actions. Then move the track over to push. Then when you play the first scene of the song it will play through the whole track. But it's annoying you can't currently set or adjust follow actions directly on the push yet.
I'm by no means an expert on developing these things, but I imagine the challenge with it is the fact it's a simgle complex multi-sample instrument. Theoretically you have 128 x 127 sample zones, IE one for each note and velocity (removing velocity value 0 for note-off) making 16256 potential unique waveforms to manage for only one sampler instrument. I also don't know if there's actually a limit to the number of samples you can put into a sampler. Let's say it is 16256, you could have every sample triggered by every note at all velocities. They would have to upgrade the sampler to apply logic for every possible sample use and pretty much 100% of people won't make use of everything anyway. It's a lot of work, and they've already streamlined most complex sample workflows with Simpler and Racks.
Sampler is there and works so that’s not the issue., it just doesn’t have the GUI/waveform display that makes it completely useless on push. Push 3 is also a controller and still there is no waveform display!
Do your ears not work? Is that why you need to see the waveform? How did all the musicians throughout history ever manage without seeing the waveforms?
Please @Ableton, consider making those "parameter rings" more distinct from each other for quick and easy navigation, e.g. a speaker icon with more or less "waves" coming out of it to show volume, with low-pass filter curve going from left to right to show cutoff, with a 3d cube getting bigger or smaller for reverb, etc. This would help us quickly localize the parameters we want to move. Ideally, this should also be available in Live itself in the Racks, because right now we often have multiple devices with rows & columns of knobs all looking the same. Imagine, if each control had a - custom chosen by patch designer! - pictogram instead of generic knob. I'm sure a library of common icons / pictograms can be easily created :)
Thanks for the suggestion. We've forwarded it to our team! Feel free also to have a look at the following Knowledge Base article to find out how to best submit feature requests to us in the future: bit.ly/3M8BWHR We're looking forward to more of your ideas.
Racks/Macros from Push 3 is pretty much the main feature I was hoping for. Templates is a hugely welcomed upgrade too. This thing is a total beast at this point. Untouched in standalone sound design capabilities, especially now. I'll be getting a Push 3 ASAP 😁
Thanks for the upgrades and I wish you good sales with this 25% discount - when will the changes find it's way into the manual? Why isn't the manual better visible on the webpage?
Man, this video was giving me anxiety with that chaotic music at the start 😂 - I'm sure the music is great on its own, but it's a little distracting, and I struggled to focus on what was being said... Its probably not suitable music to combine with a voiceover? Maybe its just me being weird... That being said, I'm loving the update to Push - Especially browser filtering! I'm actually finding Push 3 standalone to be MUCH more stable lately too! Very happy Ableton customer here 🎉
You’re going to have to teach us what you like about browser filtering. Every time I go back to hotswap a preset, I loose the instrument, or the folder it was in, or the subset of options from the filter…
just a song mode would help! I think arrangement isn't possible on this type of machine and not even needed, but a clip song mode like every other major standalone samplers/grooveboxes has. MPC has is since the 80's. roland MVs. NI Maschine. it's such a basic feature, I can't believe this is the 3rd version of push without it.
You can at least record to the arranger, but any changes to the arrangement past that point have to be done in Live, I think :/ pattern chaining would be great for performance though. I imagine someone has made a m4l device to do this at this point
Absolutely. Even something like, say, have a shift function to open the arranger view, and maybe have each track represented as 8 thin bars on the display, with the visible bars on screen mirroring whatever your 8 tracks are assigned to the pads in the clip view. Maybe adjust the arrangement view automatically as you cycle through tracks on the pads, and use the main knob as an override for the view if you want to scroll up and down the arrangement. But at that point, what's stopping us from going full blown arranger? If there's a small amount of space between the track bars, it should be enough to highlight individual clips in the arrangement view
I'd just be happy if I could browse for a user wavetable within the Wavetable synth. It certainly supports user wavetable so its just odd theres no ability to browse the file system to import one.
Without a Song Mode I can’t tilt back and listen the track start to finish. It beats me why spend so much RD on all those hard to make feature. Just press a button and select From and To and play in loop. How difficult can it be? 25% was very tempting. I stay with controller pretty much for pads and somewhat controlling Live. Which is still the best, don’t get me wrong, but did I mention lack of a Song Mode? 😊
I've tested drum sampler and auto shift, both works. Also tried out mapping to Macros which is also do work. I cannot see how to add Macro Variations tho..
Moving forward.. Please dont open a video thats supposed to be instructive with music that is absolutely frantic.. I thought the company that understands music production would understand that fundamentally.
@Ableton, please add a file editor with browser support like the move has. It sucks that you have to be tethered to a computer with live installed to manage files, for a “standalone device”. If i’m away from my computer and have inspiration to grab a sample via phone, I would need to go back home to my computer ☹️
What's going on with the guy's voice? Sounds like it was recorded in 500 different takes and sped up, slowed down and with some tape wobble and pitch shift added.
I think those are very forced edits in the dialog due to the fact that the demonstration doesn’t lend itself to learning anything. They didn’t read out the voice over copy while shooting, and didn’t time anything that’s conducive to learning
Agree. Add the ability to set and adjust follow actions for scenes directly on push. You can set up a song to play out by using a PC, setting follow actions on your scenes, then moving the set back to push, but that's annoying.
@@Foilcard I wouldn't even implement nothing like follow actions or anything different then the classic song mode on mpcs, or arrangement mode on maschine. it's something basic, and is good that is basic. no need to complicate or nothing, just implement this basic funcion that every major groovebox/sampler since the 80's has. it's like copy and paste function (pun intended) in any app in a computer. you won't reinvent the wheel, this is something universally basic you gotta copy and paste literally. trying to be original missing that very fundamental function is just stupid.
