    3:33 Oops, you slipped up there and said "bricks", Mark!

    10:45 i have a bunch of questions!
    1. Why you didn’t power washed everything ahead of time?
    2. Why you didn’t filled the joint between the bricks before you added the last brick?
    3. why you didn’t added concrete on the back of the granite slab?
    4. Why you added just concrete on that slab and you didn’t added proper adhesive? You do know that is an adhesive just for that operation!

    5:42 “We want to make sure we ride the heel.” What does that mean?
    Also, don’t you need to check that the height of the step is the same as before?

      @johnlebzelter4208 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      @sparkyheber… It means letting the heel of the jointer determine the proper depth, not the very end.

    Great job Mark but, as a time served craftsman, I was always told never hit a hammer with another hammer.
    Just wanted to ask if masons hammers are tempered differently, as I was told they can chip or break if used against each other.

    Brick step's are definitely stronger then just using concrete learning from the home improvement show ever (ROH)

    At 7:23 Mark should have put some mortar on the ends of that brick before he “set it.” Granted some would have been lost, but rather than putting it in with no mortar and just relying on the mortar joint to hold the bond. Suprised he did this.

    • @sparkyheberling6115
      @sparkyheberling6115 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Which part of the brick? Near the ends of the long, horizontal face, or on the short, vertical faces?

      @@sparkyheberling6115 Read what I said. I said the “ends.”

    • @sparkyheberling6115
      @sparkyheberling6115 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@johnlebzelter4208 But there are two kinds of ends here. The ends of a face of the brick, and the ends of the brick. Do you mean he should have added extra mortar to the bottom face?

      These clips (and probably episodes) are so highly scripted and edited, a lot of details are probably left on the cutting room floor.

    This is more than I can handle... My question is: what kinds of questions do I ask my local mason if he has the expert knowledge and experience doing this kind of repair with positive results. I think I've been getting handymen who look up how to do this on TH-cam and have mixed results (not often good) when I really want a professional outcome, not a patch job. 💕🌞🌵😷

      Jack of all trades and master of none, the North American way the past 15-20 years. Specialty trades are becoming obsolete, Oh your a tile and marble specialist? Sorry no work… Oh you can do vinyl, linoleum, carpet, hardwood too? Welcome aboard! The customer has to do their due diligence and research if they hire a contractor because that contractor could be anyone claiming to be someone. Take pictures of someone’s workmanship and pass it off as their own

    • @suzisaintjames
      @suzisaintjames 12 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @@moemanncann895 YES! Exactly! And that's my question: in my due diligence, what kind of questions do I ask to separate out the handyman out from the tradesmen?

    • @moemanncann895
      @moemanncann895 11 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      A qualified tradesperson has nothing to hide in an estimate and will share recent work completed,references and previous employers, if they give a referral,check it, trust your judgment and beware of smooth talking sales pitches, get more than one estimate, watch their mannerisms and watch their reaction when you ask if they are insured or bonded. Ask for a business license or certificate, I have a government issued one. I feel the best way to go is talk to friends or family that had work done and see if they were happy with the results regardless of price because good work doesn’t come cheap but a nice job with a warranty brings peace of mind
