I bought a Vantage M in January 2020 and was really impressed at its specs and performance, being light, comfortable to wear and easy to use. Sadly in late November 2024 one of the buttons (top-right) stopped working, and shortly afterwards the bottom-left button stopped working too. Checking the Polar website to see if I could get the buttons repaired it was sadly no longer supported, and shortly after that the bottom-right button stopped working too. So it was completely inoperative. Maybe 4 years is the planned life of a smartwatch these days? Consulting friends, and seeing what they used on Strava, in January 2025 I bought a Garmin Fenix watch - hopefully this one lasts longer.
I'm looking for my first sports watch. I would be all for this if it had solid golf features. Due to that need I'm stuck with Garmin. Probably going with the forerunner 955 once it drops to like $350 on a prime day. Polar and Coros needs to step up their golf game.
Yes for golf it definitely seems like Garmin is tops without much competition. Forerunner 955/965, Epix, Fenix, and then of course the dedicated Golf models (S) are the watches to be considering. I think the 955 is pretty close to the price you're looking for on sales already so keep an eye out! Thanks for watching! 💪🏃
Good point about the updates. My V3 has them now. Where I'm really disappointed is that you can't turn off the screen automatically turning on when you move your wrist without activating disturb mode every day, whereas the old Polars have this feature.
Awesome video as always Dave! Glad you noticed the super sticky strap too 😂 Gutted to hear they’re not openly working on Polar Flow updates.. for me that’s the biggest pitfall.. not the watch hardware, not the watch software but the companion phone application 🌟

Today the firmware 3.0 landed... unfortunately not for M3. Does anyone have any idea when this will happen?
