I’ve got nearly 1000 hours in Rocksmith 2014 and while there is a slight learning curve to associating strings with different colors it’s been a fantastic way to learn my favorite songs. The game will automatically change your guitar’s tone to match the song throughout, so you can just focus on playing the guitar and if you hit the right notes on time you sound just like the recording. Sometimes I’ll use a different pickup on my guitar just to standout a little more from the recording if I’m feeling it. Riff repeater is one of my favorite features as you can slow the song down and gradually speed up as your accuracy increases, which makes learning complicated solos or getting your timing just right on chord transitions much easier. R14 had video lessons and exercises that are made into pixelated arcade games but honestly haven’t played them much. This game doesn’t replace a real guitar instructor but it’s the perfect addition for helping you practice and improve. I love Rocksmith 2014, because you bought the game and each song or pack of songs once AND get the REAL song that was yours to play. Unfortunately R14 is being discontinued and replaced with Rocksmith+ which has a subscription model 🙄. I mean they kept a lot of the great features from the 2014 version, but you don’t get the REAL song recording in many cases. They’re mostly cover versions of the songs which are pretty good but it’s not the same, and there’s my honest unsponsored review.

Yeah, Rocksmith+ & it's features are tricky, but the more people played it so much & learn lots of it (like tab for instance), they'll get used to it. :) And good video! ^^

Yeah, it's different. My brother is a really good guitar player, but he had a hard time with Guitar Hero. I wonder if I should let him try Rocksmith instead. 🙂
That was fun to watch, as a long time guitar tutor, I too would find something like that on your very first go, a bit hap hazard at full speed! 😁 Could be a good teaching tool for anyone if the quality of the song files are top notch!
I'm going to have to try Rocksmith again! I tried it a few years ago but got fed up with it really quickly because I am used to reading tablature, not playing guitar hero. It's excellent that they've added the tablature mode in there!
Kudos for being such a good sport about this. It's hard because usually you'd be playing the piece from your heart if you know it. Here, you're following. This sort of thing is fantastic if you're learning. It's tricky if you're used to that internal clock. I play keys. I tried a similar app for piano out of curiosity. I know exactly what you just went through. But they do work. This will help a lot of people. Good job!
I'm a guitarist, but I used to love guitar hero, I still remember playing Cliffs Of Dover, on hard, and my 15 year old Son, hearing me struggle, comes to the living room, takes the "guitar" from me plays it through at 96% accuracy, He gives me the guitar/controller back, smiles, and walks away. I have Rocksmith as well.
Got flashbacks of learning Muse hysteria on rocksmith 2014, with the guitar going straight into the PS3 and the sound running out through to my hi fi via scart to rca lead as the audio never synced properly to the telly otherwise. I feel so old!
@@marcusblackwell2372 Not Rock band, but Rocksmith 2014 was for actual guitar. It is pretty much the same as what Sophie is demo'ing in the vid but was judging the accuracy through the cable signal rather than listening to the output.

I started playing Rocksmith in 2015, by then I've been playing the guitar for about a year using tabs, and it is way too different, I gave up on Rocksmith within a month...My lil sis started playing Rocksmith from day 1 of her guitar journey and it's totally helped her and she still uses it to this day. Hard to change your basics man, even if it may be flawed

I picked up rocksmith, the original game, not long after it was released. I'm a lefty but do most things right handed, because i was taught that way. Guitar is one of those things i have to do left handed. Prior to rock smith i had tried to learn in my teens, but on a right handed guitar. At 30, with rocksmith and a left handed guitar, i was playing, successfully, i.e. 90+% on songs in a month. There are issues with rocksmith and rocksmith 2014, but they are the best self learn utilities on the market. Issues are technical, like display and audio not being 100 percent in sync and noise picking up on the usb cable.
When I was first started trying to teach myself how to play guitar I used yousician a good bit and it seemed to help me a decent amount. I was also watching online lessons from Justin Guitar and Andy guitar, but supplementing that with something else really helped me out.
Loved that you did this at moments you looked like a beginner and gave me some laughs! I know you are def Pro but it was like see even a pro makes mistakes it’s not just me lol

It kind of resembles Guitar Hero or Rockband in a way which is very interesting and fun at the same time. In the game Guitar Hero, I can play Danzig's "Mother," on easy of course.
I bet you had also delay issue. I remember when I played with the Rocksmith in digital, it was just too much. I had to change it to analog so it was playable. With digital in/out it was a nightmare.
Slow but accurate is better than fast with loads of errors - one of my teaching colleagues drummed (🙃) that into Music students from Y7 and up. Learn the muscle memory first, then add speed later. This app looks fun - my youngest daughter might find it useful: she's just got her first guitar. I've already lost my Fender to my son at uni, who insists on playing Zelda or Mario themes on it...
I think as a live backdrop at a concert some of those screens look good - maybe you could link it to a snowboard simulator (Where the user where's 3D virtual headset) and you could snow board on the edge of your notes

Never ever play rocksmith. Why... well I started playing guitar at 4 years old and sometimes I set my strings pourpesly off key, out of chord and never read music... don't want to know scales or any kind of tabs. I might pick with a quarter or hold it behind my head. Just like the old timers I taught myself and will challenge anyone, anytime. I can relate, first time i tried this game was before the TAB mode was in, and as someone that grew up on TABS i couldn't do the Guitar Hero note highway stuff. It made me feel like didn't know how to play lol. Now that it has all these features, might be a thing to look back into.

More importantly, the music you payed for on RS 2014 does not work on Rocksmith+. It's a worthless money grab.

Oh thank god you can switch to tabs now. I was dyslexic for weeks after flipping the high and low E strings.
