The Ferrari F8 is the mid-engined successor to the 488, originally unveiled at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. Power comes from a 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8 shared with the
488 Pista, producing 710hp and 568lb ft of torque, paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission.
Air is now fed through the intake plumbing from the 488 Challenge race car, and the cylinder heads and pistons have been strengthened to cope with increased loads. Carried over from
the 488 Pista are its titanium conrods, crankshaft and flywheel that help reduce inertia by 17%. There's also a modified exhaust layout with new Inconel manifolds to improve gas flow.
Compared to the 488 GTB, the F8 Tributo delivers an extra 50hp and a 10% improvement in aerodynamic efficiency, and it weighs 30kg less. The most powerful V8-powered Ferrari
produced to date, the manufacturer claims it can reach 62mph in 2.9 seconds and 124mph in 7.6 seconds, with a top speed of 211mph.
The car features quad tail lamps, a feature last seen in the V8 lineage on the F430. At the rear, it sports a louvred clear engine cover made from lightweight Lexan which pays homage
to the F40, and a lightweight wrap-around rear spoiler inspired by the 308 GTB.
The F8 Tributo is equipped with Ferrari's Side Slip Control (SSC) traction and stability program, as well as the Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer Plus (FDE+), an electronic program for
managing drifts, which can be used in the ‘Race’ and ‘CT-Off’ drive mode accessible via the Manettino dial on the steering wheel. Ferrari claims the combination of SSC and FDE+
allows it to exit corners 6% faster than the 488 GTB.
