    I just went from a Zoe 40 kwh to a MG ZS EV last week, but the newest Zoe does look very good. It's just a bit too cramped for carrying four adults, and I've come to realize that I do that quite a lot. I love your channel, keep up the great work!

      Jan-Bart Spang It’s the leg room and the comfort of the seats (we all had major back pains after longer trips in the Zoe) that’s the issue. The curves and mold of the seats just aren’t made for taller people IMO - it interfaces with our bodies in the wrong places. I have the same issue on public transport; some seats just don’t work for taller bodies.

    Great review guys, thanks. Agree on all counts I think. We got our ZE50 at the end of May, our third Zoe having had an R240 and then R90 before. This is so much better in so many ways, it’s not just the range, but it feels so much more refined. We also think it is quieter than the ZE40 and seems more efficient. Not sure how, but we’re consistently seeing near to 5mpkWh over the past 500 miles and the weather has been very mixed over that period. Having CCS just makes it so much more useable, I think 160 miles before needing to look for a charge on the motorway would be comfortable, but it’ll take on a decent range in 40-50 minutes now.

    If we decide to go from hybrid to EV the Zoe ZE50 would be our choice. It is an almost identical in size to our present car so would still fit our drive way and accommodate our range requirements.
    Would need a good deal on price though. Your reviews are always very informative and a pleasure to watch.

    Just bought a Zoe, GT Line, so far very pleased. Got mine on the road for under £28k new. Still too pricey really but in EV terms no other small car offers the range, and big discounts are available, so haggle. I have ordered the armrest and will fit myself, £111. I think that ought to be fitted on the GT Line. Always thought the Zoe was cute looking, the new version looks a bit sharper but has not lost its personality. Looks great in Flame Red. Equipment is very good and the boot is large

      My ZE50 GT Line in metallic red was also picked up from DSG in Morecambe courtesy of ‘Will’. As above it’s now back with DSG to sort out the creaking tail gate and non working preconditioning which are issues being reported by Zoe owners on numerous EV forums but nobody seems comfortable mentioning any of these faults on TH-cam videos? Suggest ask DSG to confirm no issues with your Zoe before pickup to avoid any disappointment or trips back to the dealership. Still love my Zoe but slightly disappointed with these issues which will no doubt get sorted but not exactly a recommendation for buying a Renault!
      I am sure you love your new car, enjoy, it is a very good car.

      @@StevesTechTime sadly, for now, the pre-conditioning via the App seems to be a software issue with the App itself. I'll live with the inconvenience until Renault gets it sorted, though it is very disappointing.

      Enjoy yours ☺️

    Should be taking delivery of mine next week, same colour as your model. Thanks for the video - I'm really looking forward to getting mine now! Managed to negotiate £28,500 for the GT Line (without Bose) - I used Carwow and the dealers do want to compete as you said on your video. In France the Zoe 50 top of the range costs 36600 E or 28500 E if you rent the battery. Then less 7000 E gov. grant = 29600 E or 21500 E. We do low mileage so the battery rental is a good idea plus it gives you complete breakdown cover for every eventuality.

    Another brilliant review. I saw this car in Paris last year October and I instantly loved the update. However... I am now driving a 2019 BMW I3. And I LOVE IT. For me, part of the appeal with EVs has to be the aesthetic STYLING with functional purpose. As you know I had a mark 1 Nissan LEAF which I thoroughly enjoyed driving. Unfortunately, the PCP deal was horrendous for the 4 years including the 1 year waiting time they promised I would not have while they were tactically releasing the mark 2 to the market. By the time it came round I refused to pay £5k deposit for a new LEAF (Which on the level something or someone has to talk to the car manufacturers about their outdated financial system that ensures they are getting paid without sharing the risk with careful drivers) . Especially as nothing was changed on the inside of the LEAF. I was not going to endure another 4 years of the same boring interface. Fast forward two years later to 2020, I waited and waited, tested the Hyundai, Kia etc while stubbornly using public transport. In the end because of COVID19, BMW won me over. It has the screens and regular buttons and 1 pedal driving. Because of the RD, EVs are expensive. However, with increased range, WHAT A DIFFERENCE 🤭

    Got mine (GT-Line with CCS & self-parking, no Bose or heated seats) a couple of weeks ago, and love it. The insurance hike from a VW Up (group 2) to the Zoe (group 22) was only £50 for the year.

  • @jeremy1548
    @jeremy1548 4 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    I think the new Zoe is super but £29k is ridiculous and just shows how completely the car companies still think they can fleece early adopters... No the early adopters have been and gone! My advice would be wait until you can get one for 20k new then fair enough which should be quite soon.
    The top of the range Clio costs £17k so you would need to use this Zoe very heavily for about 8 years to see a pay back. That's a stretch for most people.

    • @duncanmartin2626
      @duncanmartin2626 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The top of the range Clio (I think it's the hybrid one) is 23k according to Parkers. There were some fantastic lease offers around for the ZE50, so that's probably worth checking out. I don't think you'll get a CCS equipped Zoe for 20k for a while.

    • @mrmdbarton
      @mrmdbarton 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Depends on how you look at it. Total monthly cost of motoring (including fuel) for my current diesel on PCP is more than the Zoe on PCP (including the cost to charge).

    • @garrypalmer5574
      @garrypalmer5574 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think a lot of these companies have been keeping the prices higher than they should be for the last year or so and probably will continue to do so until VW release their non first edition ID. 3. This is to make some money to cover their initial investment and have money for future investment. This is definitely the case for Renault.

    • @mrmdbarton
      @mrmdbarton 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@garrypalmer5574 the manufacturing costs for EVs are higher - it costs more to put the tooling and supply chain in place to build these vehicles, so the price will come down over time with volume and competition. Personally I'll beleive VWs ID 3 pricing when it hit's the market. For what it is in comparison to the other vehicles on the market right now, the Zoe is still a good proposition - and when I ordered mine nothing else was available in the time frame. Still, I went for a 2 year PCP so I can take advantage of the market as it matures further....

    • @jeremy1548
      @jeremy1548 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mrmdbarton all of which would make some sense for a company other than Renault which has been making Zoes for years and has supply chains and manufacturing lines already spun up. Look I'm not criticising Renault for trying to get £29k for this model initially but I think fairly soon through discounted PCP, deposit rebates and other tricks you'll see the price for this drop through competition if nothing else as you say.

    Great video as usual thanks looked at few evs and went with Zoe ze50 in gt line as it fitted the bill nice looking good to drive good range at a good price and over 1600 miles later in 4 weeks We’re happy with our choice only thing missing is acc I miss that from last car, but not big thing, love auto handbrake and the way the car drives is great. Got armrest fixes that problem but u lose 1 cup holder so had to have one on air vent. Don’t think seats are as comfy as last car ioniq but not bad , did you get numb bum Kate ? Well impressed with Efficiency of Zoe ze50 had upto 5.8 miles per kWh on 50 mph a road to the coast and mostly between mid 4s to mid 5s at speed limits is good and done 190 miles motorway trip at 60-65 mph in wind and rain and Still had 26 left at 4.5-5 miles per kWh at sensible motorway speed was good I think . Had range between 210 and 260 estimate range after trips so the Zoe can do good range well done Renault also cheap to run at about 1p a mile on octopus agile so that better than around 8 p of hybrid think we saved about £150 on fuel in last 4 weeks on hybrid or about 200-250£ on normal petrol car that is good!

    I test drove the new Zoe and the Peugeot 208. I much prefer the 208, just felt a lot sportier to me and I know many won't agree but other than acceleration I didn't really feel it was massively different to my ZE40. It is obviously posher but it would cost me over twice the value of my car to swap. List prices haven't gone up but the combination of lower government grant and not much in the way of discounts mean it is over £9 k more than I paid for my ZE40 yikes. I paid £18k for my ZE40 and £27.5 is best I can get an GT line with rapid charging for. I hate to say it but I had a convertible before my Zoe and miss it so much I am looking at swapping my Zoe for a 2014 Mercedes SLK. I feel so dirty and it is going back to the dark ages but probably my last sinful purchase.

    Hi, a great video and pretty much reflects my experience as a new Zoe GT Line owner. However, I am having no luck with the preconditioning function either via the Renault app or in the car via the console. Just curious, have you guys managed to figure out the pre-conditioning which probably isn't too much of a problem during the summer but as the winter approaches this will be invaluable and was one of the reasons I decided to get an EV (this is my first EV)? Btw my Zoe is currently back with the dealer to sort out a creaking tailgate and see if they can figure out why the preconditioning isn't working. Despite these 'teething' problems I am really enjoying the Zoe and honestly can't ever see me going back into an ICE car - it's just too much fun!

    I wouldn't buy top of the range so interested in actual on the road cost of lower variants. Other things - is it quiet on the motorway (wind and road noise), is the driving position comfortable (e.g. fully adjustable steering wheel) and does it have active battery thermal management? The latter two would underline it's competitiveness compared with the Leaf.

We have a model 3 now but had Lemon Tea Leaf's 22 kw zoe for a few weeks after we sold him my leaf. In those few short weeks in a 2015 zoe I came to realise that the "slow" chargers all over the place were actually pretty rapid when you charge at 22kw. It's a real advantage.

    Does it have height adjustable front seats and reach/rake steering wheel adjustment? The brochure isn’t clear. Price seems odd. Has reasonable range but 50kw charging is too slow for long trips. So for me it’s a commuting/shopping car. And >£25k is too much for that. Our fully loaded Seat Ibiza was £17k. I believe that also has more interior and boot space than the Zoe.

    • @dapprman
      @dapprman 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is reach and rake on the steering wheel but none of the seats are height adjustable (or base angle) as they are on top of the batteries - the down side to a design where they keep the weight in between the axles and do not sacrifice the boot.

    I think new Zoe,s are over priced at the moment compared with the completion but there is lot low mileage Zoe,s on the market I bought a 2 year old s/h GT Line Zoe for £10,000 less than the new price with very low mileage from a main dealer the warranty still 3 years and 5 years on the battery warranty. For all the world feels like new really please. Compared to my Nissan leaf the Zoe feels like it's in a different league
    I was looking to buy a new Kia Soul or a Hyundai E Kona although the Zoe is as not as good but the money I've saved is going to pay for solar on the roof along with a Telsa power wall.
    So buying a low mileage Zoe makes perfect sense.

      When I bought my current 2019 Zoe I specced up an equivalent Clio to contrast. The Zoe comes with many, many specs that are optional extras on the Clio. Half a dozen options needed to be added to bring it to parity. And the Clio was only £30 cheaper a month, even taking into account the battery lease. Now take off road tax. Now factor in fuel savings: the Zoe SAVES me £60 a month, every month.
      I'm picking up a ZE50 next week. It is £10 cheaper than my current one a month and the Motor is more powerful than all but the highest spec Clio.
      And I've not even started with BIK tax being nil and no congestion charge.
      Work it out. It's cheaper.

      @captain pugwash oh, it's you: the anti-EV troll. We've had this conversation. You made no sense and no good arguements then and I'm not expecting any better this time.
      I'm not imagining my numbers they came straight from Renault. The current Clio is embarrassingly slow compared to the 135 motor and no way as nice to drive. And at 230+ miles of range, I could go 4 hours of driving without stopping in my upcoming car.
      So no: you're wrong. You have your preconceived bias and nothing will shake your embedded notions. One wonders why you bother posting on EV videos. Haven't you anything constructive to do?

    • @timaustin2000
      @timaustin2000 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @captain pugwash will you knock it off? The worst I've ever managed in my CURRENT Zoe was 120 miles in 0 degrees at 70mp in the rain. That was North Yorkshire Moors to Manchester AND BACK.
      The trip we've already discussed (North Yorkshire Moors to Norfolk) was DECEMBER and raining which, as I've already, patiently, explained we did with a single stop for the same time as we always stopped, long before I had the Zoe.
      If the new one can't make that journey with a 15 minute 50kw stop for coffee I would be astonished. With a light foot it could be done in a single charge.
      I'm simply done talking to you. You don't listen, you're set to hate all EVs because you have an 8 YEAR OLD LEAF and you're bitter.
      Kindly take your ridiculous notions elsewhere. The Grand Tour's and Daily Mail's comments section will give you all the echo chamber back slapping you want.
      Meanwhile, in the real world the adults are talking.
