Q: Why are cars towed from your lot?
A: Because they're parked illegally and take up space our customers need, 24 hours.
Q: But it's night-time. Businesses are closed at night. Do you really have to tow at night?
A: Yes. This business is NOT closed at night. It's very common for techs to visit in the overnight times in order to do maintenance on servers and systems. It's also possible that deliveries may need to be made during after-hours times.
Q: How do you know if it's a customer or not?
A: There is various technology at work to help with this. But the simplest answer is that if they're not in the building and they haven't checked in with the tech desk, their car doesn't belong in the lot.
Q: You suck.
A: That's not a question, but I get the point. And I've heard it all before. I understand you think you've got a witty, original insult for me. You probably don't. Save yourself the humiliation.
Q: Do you read the comments?
A: Sometimes against my better judgement, generally, yes.
Q: Why don't you just rent out spaces and make money?
A: Because that would eliminate parking spaces for the real customers of the business. It's not worth the few bucks.

A: Yes. No fewer than 6. Usually more if they're not damaged or destroyed.
Q: Your signs are misleading. Do they say 24 hours? Should they be mounted differently?
A: The signs specify 24 hours / 7 days a week. They're mounted in accordance with local laws.
Q: How many cameras do you have?
A: More than 60. Some you can see, some are hidden.
Q: What kind of cameras do you use?
A: A lot of different kinds, based on the application.
Q: Do you feel bad for these people who get towed?
A: Most of the time, not really.
Q: Why are you making fun of the people who get towed?
A: I'm not. I'm posting the videos because I think they're entertaining and educational.

A: Sometimes we do! It all depends on if we are able to catch what's happening live, but the company's techs have their jobs to do and are not always available to have their eyes glued to the parking lot cameras and be able to run outside.

This one location, where ever it is, is a very busy laneway. There appears to be dozens of TH-cam videos covering this one location ....showing almost any time of the day ....in this case the evening ....when it is very clearly a very well-travelled area. Who uses lanes at night time, in an industrial area .....with expensive vehicles and fur coats????

Why though, does the electric brake work on the front wheels? I've got a 13 year old car which has a electric parking brake but it's on the rear wheels the same as normal parking brakes.

@@mrpayne1981 In previous videos the tower has a dolly so they lift the front tires onto the dolly then lift the rear tires.
Mark Payne yes mark dollies are very popular in the towing world. It’s essential the same tires you would have on a trailer. Two bars go under the car on front of tire and back of tire (tires that are not in the air) and the Dollie tires become your rolling tires so nothing can get damaged. #screwelectronicbrakes
From what I heard, they say they're annoying to put on and take too much time, so tow truck drivers don't bother. Don't take my word for it, I just heard it through the grapevine.

Fun fact. The Maserati has the BEST front-end impact safety rating of any car ever. Apparently the tow truck absorbs most of the damage.

"Buy the extended warranty" as a mechanic who has worked on both of those kinds of cars, this made me smile. Worlds greatest engineers means it breaks exactly after the warranty expires and not a week sooner.
Was he joking or telling the truth? Because I bought an aftermarket extended warranty at time of purchase, and then canceled it later because I thought I got ripped off.
My Audi started breaking down the second the warranty expired and hasn't stopped since! Spent enough in repairs to just buy a new car, great engineering!

So, I would need to prove that the failure was not caused by neglect or wear. That might be a PITA considering it's a for-profit insurance company we're talking about here.

I honestly feel that if the vehicle's intentionally parked in a tow zone, owner (or identified driver) assumes the risk of damages for anti-"theft" features.
Too bad the courts don't see it that way.

Not true. The second tow truck would have dollies. The operator places the dollies in such a way so as to lift the locked wheels off the ground. Moves the vehicle into position to be properly towed. Remove the dollies. Hook and book

Your tow guy is not correct. BMW's have an electric parking brake but it only locks the rear wheels. That BMW must have been an x drive model which is all wheel drive and that is why the front wheels would not release. Please bring dollies next time.

low price AAA used to charge $25 extra. prolly $50 now--it's been a loooong time for me (back when $85/tow, now $165+ here, IP, police, impound, it gets crazy pricey). my last job working vdot crash crew, when commercial wrecker showed on VSPD call, customer looked at the price charges, and some would just sign over the title then and there.

Parking brake is applied only on rear wheels. The problem with this particular BMW is XDrive system this cars has permanent 4WD which means putting gear box to P will block all 4 wheels. BMW with XDrive are not constructed to be towed with partial loading method.

I've seen nice, almost unremovable bumper stickers that state your illegal parking status than can be slapped across the windshield of the foolish offenders....I could barely get it off!
Have you seen any of the Russian "Stop A Douchebag" videos? They use a giant circular sticker and slap it on the windshield right where the driver needs to see. They're ridiculously hard to take off.

@@DiscoScottie Well through watching those russian videos it seems that if you can put them on without damaging the car and removing them can be done without removing paint or scratching the glass then it seems to be OK.
I don't know enough about the US legal system to really know but I'd imagine it would be something similar in the US too, although I'm not sure about that. As long as these arrogant individuals can't get their lawyers to argue that the glue reacted with any of the protective coatings on their car or, with the tow trucks being a business, that the stickers act as some kind of illegally posted advertising, both would probably be pretty weak in a court, but you know what enough money can achieve. :(

I've had Subies and I have unfortunately broken down in them a few times and have had to call a tow. I DELIBERATELY tell them to bring a FLATBED because my car is AWD. What do they bring? A regular wrecker! I said there's no friggin way you're picking up my car with that thing, go get a *FLAT-BED!* I told your dispatcher it's a Subaru with AWD, you can't drag an AWD car! So, they go away and another tow truck comes, it's another wrecker again! WT actual F?!?! The dude sees the Subaru and says "Oh shit, it's a Subaru, I need a flat bed." So he goes away and FINALLY a flat bed comes! Wow, talk about a real bad case of no one communicating with any one else at the tow company!
Most of the time they pay attention and bring the proper tow truck, but that one company, WOW!

Also, shocked to see this tow company so ill equipped... Many, if not most, tow companies in my area carry dollies specifically for AWD/4WD cars like the BMW. Would think that'd be an easy tow if they invested in proper equipment.
I got towed from in front of my house and my transfer case and parking brake were destroyed. I asked if they used a flat bed and they said yes and I looked at my cameras and shows them tow if away on the ground lol

Saw a maserati for the first time last week, a Ghibli I'm guessing 2016. I've never been so underwhelmed by a car in both looks and performance.

He seemed happy and asked if I wanted to look inside real quick. Honestly I felt like a peasant in that dark blonde roux colored interior. I just remember looking around thinking the inside is gorgeous, the outside is gorgeous, everything was gorgeous (in hindsight the guy was handsome too but I was more into the car to care).
Tow driver needs to carry dollys with him. That way he could of towed it.
Not even that the ebrake only locks the rear wheels.
Dollies take longer to fit. In that business, you need to be in and gone as fast as possible.
Or just a boot. Or better yet, just pay some local troublemaking teens to slash the tires and make sure the video feed is conveniently fuzzy while it happens.

@@KeithsReviews I am aware of at least one towing company that did not seem dissuaded by a similar vehicle, but the bill later presented to them by a judge, plus their attorney costs, probably has them doing things a little differently now, at least at the insistence of their insurer. There are some nice vehicle features like that one and certain AWD systems that can make towing a no-fun, non-profit exercise if the fee is a flat rate.

To the towwing company you should look at getting one of tow trucks like they have in Europe that picks the vehicles up and put them on a flatbed and drives away you'll see them if you look on the web.
And then they could charge a flatbed rate. :-D

They would need to either hook up to the computer or have the key - my bet is she has a spare key for the car in her glovebox and they just pressed keyless entry button on the door handle.
MrWitchTube That wouldn’t work, though. The cars I know will detect when the car is locked with a key outside, and won’t do the keyless unlock when the key is IN the car.
Did you watch the fucking video?? at 2:50 he gets out the tow truck and walks to the passenger side and unlocks it with a lockout tool. Then he unlocks the doors and the other tow driver gets in on driver side. He presses the push button start to unlock steering wheel, straightens the wheel, and then off to the races!

I must admit that I do find you're videos amusing and especially the added extra comments from yourselves are hilarious sometimes. I have no sympathy for these people parking there either, dear god you have enough warning notices up on the walls. I suppose it takes for their vehicles to be actually towed before they realise that they are not immune.
