The main problem with filming vlogs for youtube with your Leica camera is that the reason most people watch videos about Leica cameras will not be in frame. 😉

Interesting video and idea! Jon Olsson vlogged with a Leica Q on a gimbal (as well as a couple different M bodies) for a while with beautiful results. I just got a Q (been my dream camera since it first came out). I have a Sony ZV-1 & Canon EOS R, which are both FAR better for vlogging; but am still curious how the footage would out with the gorgeous Leica glass!

Mind to share where you bought it?

I bought this Q2 Reporter at a Leica store in Korea

That dog collar is torture. Try it on yourself and see how it feels.

I’m a little puzzled. May I ask why you’re attempting to vlog with a photo centric camera? Spend your money however you want, but would a Sony A7C suffice for what you’re looking for?

For Sony E mount, finding a 28mm f1.7 lens the size and quality of a Q2 is pretty challenging. The handling and overall feel of the Q2 is nothing like the A7C, either. But the Q2 is not an optimal vlogging camera at all.

Mostly out of curiosity. I know it's not the best option for vlogging, but I've already got the camera so I figured why not try it out since video capabilities are already built into the Q2 Reporter.
I picked up this camera because I wanted it to be the only camera I bring with me on leisure trips as I have a tendency to overpack camera gear which weighs me down and makes traveling a little more cumbersome.
If I need to reliably create videos, I would 100% use the FX3 or a7iii I have access to at work given the flexibility of swapping out lenses and the ability to hook up microphones directly to the camera, but I just love the images and video out of the Q2 Reporter the most out of any digital camera I've used so far.

100% the Q2 is not an optimal vlogging camera, but it's just so easy to travel with and I've just fallen in love with the images and video.

It may not be possible to own a dedicated vlogging rig when you've spent *cough* on that Leica. No harm in trying out with what you already have. Knowing limits is half the battle.

@@gregstevenson7401 The guy also has a Sony FX3, so he has the vlogging angle well covered. For some people, buying a Leica is within their disposable cash budget.

Video is so shaky. They claim it has IBIS/OIS. You’d never know looking at this footage.

I definitely think this camera is best to stay still and record. I was pacing back and forth, trying to remember to keep my arm extended as far as I can to make sure I was in frame and not cut off.
