I feel like the novel is called "My Horrible Father" and talks about Innocence because of his own flaws. He even takes to smiling when remembering dancing with Morty. He recognizes his own flaws just as much as he recognizes Morty's, he just isn't that keen on him. How could he be? But he understands Morty and his convictions the same way he's able to understand his own without the blindside of his Genetic Code. Morty did great as a father and Morty Jr is a very well developed and well made character despite his 1 episode screentime.

The whole reason why people suffer toxic relationships is from a combination of circumstances that put you in a position youre unable to leave, where youre dependent to some extent, and peppered throughout pleasantries that cause you to second guess the trauma. Especially trauma with family, its commonly a turmoil of affection and mistrust in parental figures, where they still provided, but at any chance given they shame and neglect their child.

He did but he could've handled it better. He tried to steer him away from violent tendencies which was a good attempt that actually worked. Bad side is that he told him not to go outside bc the air was poisonous to him.

It's quite rare that anything I watch makes me introspect. This episode really hit me. It made me realize I probably wouldn't be a good father.

Morty was with Rick most of the time and helped a small bit with some of their missions which is worth a lot more than writing a book
