Yes agree looking after parents is something that one needs to do because we are family. But to expect my child to look after me because I looked after her is outright selfish. It’s like she owes me! And as a parent I think I fail if I expect that. A parent child relationship is beyond the usual give and take relationship!

I would like to mention few points, Jayaram asking his colleague, 'husband nu vere brothers aarum ille', athu could have been 'husband nu vere siblings aarum ille or avarkku vere makkal aarum ille'. Because it's not the duty of son's itself to take care of the parents, both daughters and sons are equally responsible to take care their parents.. Also, daughter in law has her parents too, she's not only responsible for taking care of her parents in laws, she has prior importance to her family and parents too.. Also son-in-law should be available for his wife's parents too..
Please try to include gender neutrality/political correctness to your wonderful theme team.. Cuz, you always end up in son, his parents and daughter in law..

I was searching for such a comment. Very well said. Your parents, whether you are a daughter or son, is your responsibility. Your spouse should be for help and should be a last resort on whom you put your parents responsibility. I am 30 female. My parents responsibility is mine and my sister's not my husband's. If me and my sister are really and genuinely not available then only we ask for help from our husband. And it's the same for my husband's parents too. It's his and his siblings'responsibility. If only my husband and his other siblings aren't available for some genuine reason, I step in.

This is indeed very good effort.. Your could also have portrayed the other side of coin where parents are not staying with the son/daughter.. Still love between exists right.. So in such cases … how well can u take care of parents!! By appointing a house help or other medical needs etc.. That also shows love and affection.. Such children are not abandoning their parents..
Some people prefer staying independent, some have to stay away for their job, some stay away as there is compatibility issues, some people have small houses etc etc..
Such cases should also be shown to spread awareness..
Keralites need to improve in that sense.. I have seen many many families where all stay under one roof but dislike each other and talk bad abt each other behind the back.. why to be like that??
Staying away but providing care is also a way to love ur parents.. Visiting them weekly or biweekly or monthly as per convenience must be done.. And now we all can video call every day multiple times… Thats my opinion..
