"Voyage à Travers L'impossible" is a 1904 movie by French Filmmaker George Méliès. The storyline is loosely based on Jules Verne's novel "Journey Through The Impossible" while drawing elements from Méliès's earlier success "A Trip To The Moon" (1902).
Considered one of the greatest visionary in the history of cinema, Méliès displays many technical innovations in the making of this movie ; the film itself was shot in black and white and later hand painted frame by frame.
Originally released in the US as "The Impossible Voyage", we took the liberty to give it a more accurate translation of the french title.

La Pêche is a San Francisco-based band with a strong flair for traditional musics from Eastern Europe and beyond. Led by french-american composer Paul Bertin, the group started working on the Journey Through The Impossible project in February 2014 as a "ciné-concert" where the musicians would play along the projected video. The composition was such a success that a studio recording was made the following summer.

I remember watching this stoned when it first came out.
Well you must still be pretty stoned because ain't now way you or your parents were even a thought 1904 💀💀
To think that this was made 115 years ago is breath-taking.

It's magical

This was before WWI, Einstein's Quantum theory of light, the first people on both the North and South pole, the first T-Ford, before Titanic sunk, but still a while after Keith Richards was born.
No joke, I had to look up that last one to see if it was true.
Fascinating, what a wonderful amazing film
Thanks cinema... Since the beginning, denying the impossible.
(Great soundtrack too!)
When you project the movie into this moment, you can really begin to see more cinematic views just by envisioning it.
Star Films and Melies. The stuff dreams are made of.
This is a brilliant better soundtrack to the same movie, it's 1st or 2nd copy the recording is brilliant but the soundtrack is brilliantly superb but the instruments were of key needs tuning but this one playing now is more professional rated 100% on both accounts. Praise be to George Mellier forgotten how to spell his surname but got the right definition. 🎼🎬🎹👍
I love his work
The backdrop paintings & depth perception of scenery were very good, especially the group boarding the train scene.
Great soundtrack!
The soundtrack couldn't be any more fitting! It's energetic, changes to fit every moment. 10:47 the soundtrack accelerates with the train.
Heaven for everyone.
Wonderful soundtrack. From about 11:38 reminded me Philip Glass. Fits perfectly.
This could have been a early version of the Sci-Fi TV series, this is the 3rd episode of The Trip to the Moon, keep it coming. 🎬🎬👍
Classic.
11 mins in magical stuff ☺☺☺ I always loved it
Not the best video quality, but the mini movie is wonderful and the music, is absolutely astounding! I bow to La Pêche.

Interesting old time machinery in this old film, which I believe is from the end of the Victorian era and start of the Edwardian era
1904, so definitively the Edwardian era.
FUCKING great.
I'ts so Magic S2

A SUN EATS A SPACE CART! AAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
The major problem with this old time movie is that it is colorized. Not a good idea. Better in B &W
Méliès wanted from the beginning to do colorized films. So, this is the "original" version.
See above ''Considered one of the greatest visionary in the history of cinema, Méliès displays many technical innovations in the making of this movie ; the film itself was shot in black and white and later hand painted frame by frame. ''
Hand tinted each frame, I believe. 🎨
wow the sun looks like terrible
film and music don't correspond. i don't mind the music but why with this film
A women's decade mothers and fathers and mothers have a say . L'oreal if if you like 😥🚥💍✝🕎☸☯💲🤳🤔silence while she wins the dream. 😉
how tf is this in color 💀
The individual frames were colored in by hand afterwards. Can you imagine how much effort & skill was involved in this?
WTF with the music.
The soundtrack is terrible noise
Turn your sound off; it is a SILENT film !
