Original Video:
• Megadeth - Holy Wars.....
For the first time on the channel, we are checking out Megadeth with their song "Holy Wars." This tune was an absolute banger and their level of musicianship was top notch! The song had various tempo changes and I loved the syncopated runs they were doing throughout the tune! I can't wait to hear more from them in the near future! Hope you enjoy! #reaction #megadeth #megadethfans #holywars #davemustaine #metalmusic #musicreactions

What have I been missing?! What a phenomenal group with so much talent! What should we check out next from Megadeth?!
Welcome to the MEGADETH rabbit hole! Been in it since 86...can't find my way out. Don't want to either. MEGADAVE 4 life here. Nice reaction 💥☠️💥...☘️🇺🇲
Thanks so much! Yeah this tune was killer and I can’t wait to hear more! Such a talented band! 🤘🏻
First section of the song is about Middle Eastern Holy Wars & the second part is about Frank Castle (The Punisher) from the Marvel Comic Books.
You really need to check out tornado of souls... Megadeth
Appreciate the suggestion and thanks for watching!
"didnt know they were as technical as this"
Megadeth always made metallica sound like metal for kids
🤣😂🤣 metal for kids
That’s the first song on the legendary Rust in Peace. Might as well go to the next and then finish the album! Every song is perfection
It’s killer for sure!
Holy Wars is the greatest Megadeth song IMO!
Dave''s solo.. first take.. 🤘
Incredible!
A lot of people say Dave isn't a good vocalist. But a lot of people also don't know that Dave didn't want to do vocals. He wanted to just play guitar but he couldn't find a singer he liked so David said well why don't you just do it. And so Dave did. So even if you think Dave's not a great vocalist you also have to remember he's doing vocals WHILE playing those insane riffs. That deserves credit.
💯 That’s no easy task!
Megadeth was my greatest discovery back in 2022, wish i listened sooner
Better late than never though! I’m in the same boat but I’m locked in now! Loved this tune! 🎶
Next you need to check out Suicidal Tendencies "skat or die", " how can I laugh tomorrow when I can't even smile today" and many more
Holy Wars is obviously about war and religious conflict, Dave got the inspiration to this song when they played in Northern Ireland and there were people ripping off Megadeth t-shirts to raise money "for the cause"... then when the band was playing, Dave was drunk/high and dedicated a song to "the cause" and said "give Ireland back to the irish", next thing he knows: a riot broke out and Megadeth needed to travel in a bulletproof bus. The slower half-tempo section in the middle "...The Punishment Due" is about The Punisher from comic books, but the comic's story kind of matches the religious conflict theme.
Check out anything by Megadeth, really, but avoid listening to 2004 remasters and go for original versions, mainly if it's a track from the "Rust In Peace" album on 2004 remix/remaster version. Some music videos are shortened versions of the songs (without intros, outros, etc).
Gotcha! Appreciate the info! Such a killer tune and they are amazing musicians! Loved every second of it! Thanks for hanging out!
ABSOLUTE FIRE!!! 🤘🤘 I'm here for the 80s metal scene. I never really got into these guys back then, (don't know why), but the older I get the more I'm getting into them. Looking forward to the journey together!! (I'm trying to grow my hair back like I had in the 80s but for some strange reason, it's not going as well as I hoped. )
Yep, me too brother. I think it has something to do with getting old. 😂 Maybe we're getting a more refined taste.
Haha 🤣 That’s alright! You see how I handle the hair situation! 😂 Glad you enjoyed it!
She Wolf live is a banger
Appreciate the suggestion!
Ooh brother. You have no idea of how deep you have to dig to fully get a proper picture. Their catalogue is quite vast. I miss Nick Menza sitting behind those drums so much. Ahhh, the gold years of my youth.
Let’s gooooo! I guess I better start digging then! Thanks for hanging out! 🤘🏻
@@setonhillstudios You should have a look at their video of Symphony of Destruction, I think it was in Argentina. The fans just got completely nuts. It's worthy of a reaction because it's so good.
First 5 albums. All excellent, all unique.
The sick the dead and the dieing was a thrasher. They still got it.
@danielhead9627 last 2 albums they resurrected. Stuff in between was great, but not Megadeth of the 80s. Sadly, angst in vitriol were better muses for Dave. Even sadder, is the state of our world brought that back for him and many others
Oh mannnn! My favorite off this album! 🤘
Such a banger! 🔥
Kiss really brought it on that Unplugged performance. Peter Chris singing Hard Luck Woman may have been the coolest part of the show. Can’t deny that performance!
Megadeth is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I love seeing all my fellow rattleheads preaching Megadeth. Like many others have said, I have followed them from the beginning when I was 15 years old. Still my favorite thrash band, still listen to them almost every day. 🏄♂️
As a bass player you need to check out Dawn Patrol off this album or better yet just listen to the whole album! Not a bad track on it!!!
I was listening to Megadeth in high school and I graduated in 1995. How the F has anyone never heard this?!
Lot of music out there, better late than never though!
Megadeth - hangar 18. Like 13 solos yes that's right 13 solos!
And then she wolf rude awakening live for the greatest live performance ever
That’s wild! 😳 Definitely gotta check those out! Appreciate it! 🔥
I've known this song since it came out. I want to hear it again. It's that kind of song.
It’s a good one!
Nice work Bludger.
La mejor banda. 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘💯💯💯💯💯💯🎸🎸🎸🎸🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Exacto 🔥❤️🤘🏽
The first half of the song is exactly what it says, it's about holy wars. The second half of the song is about Frank Castle becoming the Punisher in Marvel Comics😂 no shit.
RIP Menza ! I believe Vinnie Calaiuta recorded a couple of albums with him.
I wow! I have to look into that! Vinnie is a beast! 🤘🏻
lol, the song is about the Punisher , the comic book guy
Oh really?! That’s EPIC!
2nd half
Dave is a BIG Frank Castle buff! 💀
everything after the classical bridge (eastern sounding part) is about the Punisher. Prior to that it's about religious war, for example muslim vs christian.
One of the best thrash albums
Rust in peace, a straight master piece
My favourite lineup….Dave Mustaine (of course) - guitars, vocals, Dave Ellefson - bass, Nick Menza - drums, Marty Friedman - guitars.
Unfortunately, Nick passed away in 2016, and had been out of Megadeth for several years, as has Marty Friedman. Dave seems to change band members as often as most people change socks 😆. I do really love the current drummer, though, Dirk Verbeuren.
An older song (with yet a different lineup) is the title track from Peace Sells, But Who’s Buying.
If memory serves Mustaine got the boot from Metallica for being aggressive and confrontational when drunk. Whether that’s the whole story, who knows. Probably not
Great reaction!
Holy Wars is referencing Northern Ireland. The Punishment Due is based on The Punisher comic books.
Thanks for all the info on the band and the song! Great tune and I can’t wait to hear more! Extremely talented band!
Correct, and the video is actually quite deceptive on that score.
You know when you hear a Dave Mustaine guitar solo, raw and fast
He was incredible!
great video as always!!!
Really appreciate it! Thanks for watching!
The tracks from Rust in Peace are fire. Try Tornado of Souls, Marty's solo is Epic
You need to watch this live @ Hammersmith ‘92. It’s just like the studio version, only the band is in its literal prime right after they dropped this album. You won’t be disappointed.
Tornado of Souls! Great reaction
Glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for the suggestion!
check Megadeth - Conquer or Die (Instrumental), Sweating Bullets Video, Foreclosure of a Dream, Angry Again, so many cool tracks yo should react to their whole albums starting with Killing is my Business.
Thanks for the suggestions!
Glad you reacted to the official video for this one. Lots of great Megadeth songs, but word of caution, please avoid reaction to any of the remastered/remixed versions of songs of their second, third, fourth, and fifth albums. Try to find the original recordings, which are far superior. The only exception is the remaster of their first studio album, which was actually a much needed improvement. The Rust In Peace album, which this song is from, is a bona fide Thrash Masterpiece. Every song is great. The must hear songs on this album, however are: Hangar 18, Take No Prisoners, and Tornado of Souls.
Other great Megadeth songs to check out are: Skull Beneath The Skin, Rattlehead, Wake Up Dead, Peace Sells… But, Who’s Buying?, Good Mourning/Black Friday, Set The World Afire, In My Darkest Hour, Liar, Skin O’ My Teeth, This Was My Life, High Speed Dirt, Angry Again, A Tout Le Monde (1994 version), Elysian Fields, Trust.
Any song off this album is killer. Like sci-fi and soloes, check out 'Hangar 18'. Like fast Thrash, listen to 'Take No Prisoners', which is an antiwar song, or 'Poison is the Cure' which is about methadone addiction. Like fantasy? ''5 Magics' is your song. If the supernatural is your deal, 'Lucretia.' You want to listen to one of the best solos in metal, try 'Tornado of Souls'. Like bass, 'Dawn Patrol' is 2 minutes of bass, drums and vocals. Finally, 'Rust in Peace, Polaris', the end of the world from a unique perspective. And this all just from this one album, "Rust in Peace". I could continue with the same for each album. I will suggest the "Peace Sells But Who's Buying" album for earlier Megadeth. Not a bad song off that album, even the cover is okay....
Thanks for the suggestions!
@@setonhillstudios Make sure to listen to the original albums versions of Megadeth songs. Many of the remastered versions are not as good as the originals. Also, many Megadeth music videos are shorter, edited for length, than the original songs on the album, 'Holy Wars...' being an exception.
Any Megadeth track . " 44 Minutes " is a great song to try.
Check out Hangar 18 freaking jam.
A couple of people have suggested that one! Can’t wait to check it out! 🤘🏻
Know. The hole run deep
Marty Friedman is hands down one of the most talented lead guitarists on the planet.
Tip of the iceberg…. I really enjoy Chris Broderick and Kiko Lourero’s versions. There is SO MUCH MATERIAL. One fist-pumper I’d recommend is KILL THE KING…
Appreciate the suggestion and thanks for swinging by! Absolutely loved this tune!
Gotta fade Hangar 18 after Holy Wars. Greatest start to a metal album ever at its time.
Thanks for the recommendation! 🔥
Be like others. But rabbit hole. Goes deep
The 🐐
Man Its funny for me as a Brazilian 35yr guy who grew up listening Megadeth, Metallica, Pantera to watch a cool ass North American Dude who have never went throgh it. Just enjoy the ride buddy! Greetings from Brasil! 🇧🇷
Glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for hanging with us!
If you watch the video , during the punishment due that's Dave and the Fellas Parachuting.....
Oh cool!
Nice reaction man, would love to see more megadeth reactions. Gonna recommend 5 magics, and also that you always, always go with the original versions over the remasters for megadeth. Not a big deal but some of the remasters are notably worse sounding, especially the rerecorded vocals.
Appreciate the tip and glad you enjoyed it! Definitely gonna have more from them on the channel and thanks for watching!
Great reaction thanks... Listen to "" TORNADO OF SOULS BY MEGADETH... ITS AMAZING SOLO GUITAR 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉... my suscription 🎉🎉🎉
Sweet! Thanks for the recommendation and hanging out! Can’t wait to hear more from them very soon! Insanely talented!
My suggestion goes for Tornado of Souls and Hangar 19. Amazing instrumentals.
Sweet, thanks for the suggestions!
You should check out Megadeth-Good Mourning/Black Friday
Thanks for the suggestion!
Yeah an intense rabbit hole this is. Dave Mustaine is awesome, playing incredible rhythm guitar, scary intense lead and awesome singing. All the musicians are very, very good in this band. Check out Take No Prisoners, Hanger 18 and Tornado of Souls from this same album, Rust In Peace. Peace!
You sound like gomer pyle .!!!
🤣😂🤣 I’m dead off that!
Great song, I think "Hangar 18" will grab you more.
Anyway, Could you please react to the band Death? Either the song "Pull the Plug" ,"Left to Die" or "Spiritual Healing".
Death is a band that helped birth and shape a new metal genre (death metal) after thrash metal (Metallica, Megadeth). The band leader was a great musician and composer, I think you might find them interesting.
Thanks for the suggestion!
This came out in 1990 so its definitely about stuff that was going on in the middle east
It's actually about the fight in Ireland and Northern Ireland.
@@brandonjones1349 wow those clips always had me fooled!
Thanks for the info everyone! Definitely a banger! Can’t wait to hear more from them!
@@brandonjones1349 Correct, the Holy Wars part is. The second half is about The Punisher. Holy Wars is about the religious conflict in Northern Ireland, which has its roots in the 17th century. The lyrics describe the violence and bloodshed between Catholics and Protestants, with the line “Brother will kill brother, spilling blood across the land” highlighting the senseless killing and destruction caused by the conflict.
The Punishment Due is inspired by the Marvel comic book character, the Punisher, a vigilante who seeks revenge against those who have committed crimes. Dave Mustaine, the band’s lead vocalist and guitarist, was a fan of the character, but later lost interest as he felt the Punisher had become too commercialized.
Overall, the song is about the destructive nature of war, politics, and religion, and how they can lead to senseless violence and bloodshed. The song’s lyrics are a commentary on the human tendency to kill and harm each other in the name of ideology, nationality, or religion, and the devastating consequences that follow.
@@stevecain6377aye. Dave's a BIG Frank Castle buff. 💀
Can't wait for you to react to more Megadeth!
Definitely want to check out more!
Tornado of souls, hanger 18
Thanks for the suggestions!
@@setonhillstudios your welcome young man!
Megadeth rauals master musicians, especially guitar work. This is their best album. Mustaine is a guitar beast, and Marty Freidman is slso s guitar master!!!
Do a album reaction to Rust in Peace!!
check out tornado of souls btw nice reaction!
Glad you enjoyed!
Marty Friedman. That. Guy. But Jason becom forgotten
Do Sympathy for Destruction.
Say no more
Bro, if you gonna react to more Megadeth please do some of their new material... People only react to their old songs but they have some bangers on their last albums as well, songs like "Dogs of Chernobyl", "Célebutante", "The Emperor" would be great...
Sweet, thanks for the suggestions!
U got. Trapped
Great sincere reaction man. Subbed.
Check out anything from Rust in Peace or Peace Sells.
Glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for hanging with us!
Some know DragonForce. Ha ha.
Rabbit hole includes. King diamond. The origin of Metallica
Tony. Mc alpine??
Omg your so late on this iconic song
Better late than never 🤷🏻♂️ Thanks for swinging by!
You’re literally the only person who’s reacted to this that only mentions and acknowledges Nick Menza’s crossover 🤦🏻♂️
Really?! That was EPiC! 🔥
Racer x. ????
Its not about the middle east. Imagery is misleading. Its about the war in Ireland. Protestants and Catholics. Trust me...☘️🇺🇲
It's "about" both ...or more accurately, any, religious conflict. "don't look now to Israel , it might be your homeland" is clearly a warning to all, not just the Irish. Since a middle eastern country is the only place mentioned , the video with all the middle east footage was not fan fiction but actually release by the band and since Dave referenced Gaddafi and Khomeini when talking about the song ...yeah, we'll let the Irish claim it though , since it was inspired by the troubles.
@julesbrunton1728 I understand. War has been here since the beginning. You can use whatever terms to define the point of view of good and evil in any war from you vantage point. I'm just quoting the man who actually wrote, recorded and played the song. U translate it as u see fit. That's what art is. But thanks fer the history lesson lad. Btw..nobody "let us have anything". We took it. Faugh a ballaugh....slainte to you teach . ☘️
@@brandonjones1349 whatever, you took it, we let you have it, either way nobody but you wants your little holy war 🤣
@julesbrunton1728 lol....not bad man. Points.
not a prog band, but had prog elements. mostly thrash metal.
Gotcha!
Yeah, there's been a long running rivalry between Metallica and Megadeth. Basically, Mustain was being a Very big Di*k to the band members like using unkind behavior and some violent tendencies. So, they fired him.
Wow! That’s never a good thing. I did enjoy this tune nonetheless and hopefully they can put the past behind them if they haven’t already after all those years.
that's a very simplistic take on a complicated situation.
It's to bad in a way they didn't get the radio play & fame Metallica got cause (in my opinion) they're better musicians & I'm not a huge fan of either but prefer Megadeth
Yeah, it is wild how they haven’t gotten the notoriety that Metallica has! I guess at the end of the day though that doesn’t matter. They all get to play music for a living which is awesome! 🔥
You’ve just witnessed the best trash metal album in mankind👊🤘🎸🎸🎸🎸
Start from get go Pease sells but whos Buying for he can here the progression But I have 1 Question what do you play an listen to And What Fucking Plant have you Been Dropped off from and everyone will back me on this one if you start doing Metallica, Megadeath, slayer, Anthrax, your channel will explode 🤯 us metal Heads are the most loyal fans there is and if you don't no just FAFO my man so let's go on A ride PeePs
I play drums and I’ve just never been super into metal music, so missed out on a lot of bands unfortunately!
Get the album rust in peace and you'll throw your Metallica albums in the garbage
🤣😂🤣
