  • a video in which i explore all time low’s early history, from their inception up until the release of so wrong its right :) hope u enjoy!
also! i just wanna note that early on in the video i mentioned that i actually really like last young renegade, and that i would get into that more later. well, the video ended up getting pretty long and i had to cut some stuff out, including the part where i talked about why i like last young renegade. i still stand by that though, and i will probably make a separate video in the future in which i defend that album lol

I started following All Time Low in 2005 as well as a lot of these others bands mentioned in the video. I love seeing these videos because they’re nostalgic for me but also still relevant because I still listen to these bands 15 years later.
I actually saw Amber Pacific at Warped Tour 2005 on the tiniest stage that was literally 6 inches off the ground in a parking lot. My friend and I stood less than a foot away from them and were blown away.

It's unbelievable how dedicated these guys were at such a young age. We just put out our debut single at 17 but by this point, ATL had put out 2 EPs, an album and had signed to a major label. This band will forever be a cornerstone to us! p.s. fuckin' rad video btw :)

I stumbled upon your channel last week after watching some of your other histories videos and subscribed. By some incredibly strange coincidence, I saw Jack Barakat post this video to his Instagram story today. Super weird timing, but pretty cool. As a diehard All Time Low fan (I think we’re around the same age - I started listening with Put Up Or Shut Up when I was around 12?Weird), I am practically an All Time Low scholar. I used to live for this band. My TH-cam profile is still a shot of an ATL concert from like 2011 lmao. I thought there’s no way you’d have anything to share I wouldn’t know or remember but it’d be a fun watch. Man, I was grinning through this whole video. You unlocked some deep memories here. A bunch of stuff I forgot about and even a few tidbits I didn’t know (gang vocals on CIWWAF? Dope!!!) Loved this video. Love your taste. Also, highly impressed by some of what you were able to unearth. Pretty sick how you found some of those old MySpace posts and 03 videos. Anyway, just popping in to say I love what ya do man! :)

And I always ask myself the same question, What happened to Alex's voice from The Party scene to Put up or shut up?!?! My theory: in TPS he has a higher voice, so he had to work harder to have a lower voice. By the time that they recording PUOSU, he already went through puberty, so he didn't need to work so hard to have a lower voice...

when they re-released nothing personal recently, I straight up cried while screaming the lyrics with my friends in the car. it was such a surreal experience to have an album grow up with me like that. all time low is a really consistent band and has only ever put out bangers since their early days.

  • @AlexBbyCakes
    @AlexBbyCakes 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

(This comment is so much longer than I expected. Ha.)
I started listening to them in 2006 and miss those early shows so much 😭 Back when they used to work the line "I don't think you're ready for this jelly, my body's too bootylicious for ya babe," into Running With Lions.
This video prompted me to go on my channel and watch my old potato phone videos of an acoustic they did outside a venue back in early 2008 during the Man Whores tour because the show was sold out and tickets could only be bought at the door.
Before SWIR came out, they had a pre-release party on AIM (ha) and each member had their own "room" you could join and talk to them on. I saved all the conversations somewhere, wish I could find them. All their away messages also had their emails and cell numbers. It was a trusting, innocent time. And the All Time Low board room. What a time. I recently went through the Wayback Machine to look through some of the threads and I saw a bunch of my comments from like 2007-2010 and the cringe level was high.
And fun fact, Six Feet Under The Stars is like the follow up to Coffee Shop Soundtrack, both are about the same girl, maybe even Alex's wife. "Meet me on Thames Street" from 6ft is referring to the Daily Grind cafe on Thames.
But I'm sad you didn't mention the 5th "secret member" of the band was Matt Flyzik 😉 He's actually the one screaming in Memories That Fade Like Photographs.

I’ve been into ATL since 2014 ish (i was late to music) and finally got to see them live on the last young renegades tour. I brought along my little sister and it was her first concert. The crowd was so kind and the band did INCREDIBLE. They played old songs and new songs and my heart was content. Somebody in line even gave my sister and I early entry tickets for free because they somehow ended up getting too many. It was an awesome lineup as well, the wrecks, waterparks, and swmrs all putting on incredible shows (especially the wrecks, that was my second time seeing them live)

I've only got to see All Time Low on the Future Hearts tour but it was amazing!! Especially having Issues opening for them defintley cleared up a spot in front from all the usual All Time Low fan girls ;) learned a lot from this video! I'll always love All Time Low the music is very diverse, my cheer coach used it during practices and it was a perfect song to drive to warped to.

I'm a bit embarrassed about the fact that I have seen pretty much every single video that you put in here 😂 They've been my favorite band for more than 10 years now and still going strong haha. The throwback made me super nostalgic to when I was actually eating up every piece of info I could get my hands on lol.
Also, I'd love to see that LYR defense video, it's propably in my Top 3 ATL albums (WUS, SWIR & LYR with DP and TPS being strong contenders) and I never understood the hate it got other than "iTs NoT tHe SaMe SoUnD aS sWiR". :/ I love that each album they make has a unique sound while still always feeling like them. You can usually guess what album a song was from by the sound of it but they're still all undoubtedly ATL.

Hi! I know I’m late, but I’m actually a trained vocalist who can provide some insight on the difference in vocals at 18:25 It seems to me that what’s different is actually the placement or the shape of the words in his mouth. The earlier recordings feature a darker tone with the placement farther back in the mouth while the newer releases are placed more forward! Think the difference between a musical and an opera. Musicals tend to have a more forward and bright sound while opera is typically darker and the placement is farther back.
I know I’m commenting on an old video, but from what it sounds like to me that’s what’s going on. So no weird reverse puberty XD

Bingeing all your videos because I'm stuck in quarantine again, and I'm actually learning things I never knew here since I wasn't really in the Neon Scene™ when it was a thing, so none of this is common knowledge to me. But it's oddly comforting to know All Time Low endured from that era and kept such a stable lineup - I always did think they were a lot stronger than other bands of that time and I'm surprised at how well even their really early songs hold up. I just might give 'So Wrong Its Right' a re-listen later...
Also, I'd totally forgotten that A7X were on Hopeless for a while, and were just one drop in the sea of early 00s emo-ish metalcore/Rise-core sounding bands. Crazy to think about that now.

I remember Brighten being on the tour with Cute and This Providence. I believe that show was my intro to ATL and I picked up both the put up or shut up ep and king vs. queen, which is also a stellar album. Brighten is still releasing music in 2022 but their style changed a ton from that point and I always wondered what happened there. They had that holiday ho ho hopefully song with the Maine and then just drifted away from the scene.

This was awesome! Ive been listening to them for years, and I'm glad you brought up the vocal change of Alex (bound to happen with time) during 2007-2009. Some of Alex's best acoustic finds are those in mid to late 2007. Although Mayday hasn't shifted their vocal sound too much, it would be cool to hear them or another similar band done as well. Thanks for this!
