I connected my OP-1 and the SmplTrek to my MacBook via USB, then used Ableton Live lite to route midi signals between the two. It was interesting using the OP-1 sequencers with the SmplTrek samples, but haven’t done more than the basics
Thanks for the video. I've been trying to figure out the midi setup. I'm trying to connect my Roland T8 and J6 to it but haven't been able to sync them yet. Hopefully this will help me demystify the process.
@@FreeBeat trying to trigger and sync the T8 and J6 to the SmplTrek. So if I were to use the T8 for drums or J6 for chords they'd work seamlessly together. I was able to bring the audio into the SmplTrek but not able to trigger either the T8 or J6 to start when the starting a sequence on the SmplTrek.
Thank you for your clear video.. I have also a question. Can you put in Smpltr different samples/instruments in different clips on the same track (in different scenes)? Or only one sound/instrument on one track? Keep up the good work
Thanks for the super informative video! Two questions tho if I may ask- 1) In the keyboard mode you show around 4:11 does this mode support pitch bend? 2) Can you trigger the sounds from multiple tracks simultaneously? Like say you have the guitar set to chromatic keyboard mode on track 1 and track 2 is various drum samples would I be able to play one key to trigger both sounds? Like an acoustic guitar sample with an accompanying drum hit?
Hey mann how do you connect Keyboard to usb? Any usb port can works on Keyboards as a "standalone" or you connect to usb pc port? (I've 2 option, DC and usb HUB) tnxxx
Hello Freebeat ! Thanks for your multiple videos, I have an issue with my smpltrek midi setting because when I play with my keyboard all the tracks are playing, for exemple, drums are playing same time as the piano…annoying I’m sure I miss a setting, all tracks have a different channel btw. Thanks for your help
I see Uri Wong uses a korg nano key studio on his sample track… I do not know how he does it but the knobs on the controller are mapped to the fx’s on the unit…
I've been playing with synths for months and loved every second of it. But I just started recording my music and almost immediately have lost some passion for playing. Did this happen to you? Did recording your music change the way you approach it in anyway? ...might be a cool video topic: playing vs. producing; which is more enjoyable?
I've actually been recording music professionally (not as an engineer, but as a drummer) since I was in high school, so it's just kind of always been there for me. When I started doing it myself, I already had a solid understanding of what it was going to entail. That is an interesting topic though!
Thanks for this! Looking forward to more SmplTrek content, can you please add a bigger copy of the screen somewhere like top left or something in future videos? The screen here is impossible to see haha, thanks.
Yeah, I tried to in my editing software and the way I shot the video didn't lend itself to being zoomed in haha. I'll hopefully come up with a better solution though, thanks!

That sounds fun!
You make the clearests tutorials🙏❤️🙏Thank you!!
Thanks for watching!

This tutorial might be a bit basic for that, what all are you trying to accomplish?

The SmplTrek looks a great piece of kit.
Very nice tutorial! I was rocking with the looper function today. It's very fun.
Thanks! I started playing with it too, pretty neat :)
Thanks. Sounded fine!
Perfect video, thanks. I’m waiting on my order….. and I have the same controller. Lol you play good enough, I’ll take it 👏🏾.
Thanks so much for watching!

Nice! Think Smpltrek with beatstep pro would be a good combo?
I'm not sure, I've never used the beatstep or beatstep pro, but I'd imagine you could get some cool stuff going!

Should just be some CC mapping, I'll have to do a follow-up video!
I'm having trouble with Midi sync on occasion. If you uncover any sync secrets, let us know!
Will do! I'm guessing there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out, but they seem to be working hard to do so :)
That’s got a nice parlor Oregon sound! Actually organ but I thought I’d give you a pun to ponder! Lol
I see what you did there!

Kewl. Will you expand on the tutorial so one could add the transport controls in?
Possibly in the future!

Good idea on the screen. Chris Lody did that in his SmplTrek videos. I guess it depends on the editing software used if that's possible.

@@FreeBeat Thanks for trying!
Doesn't say anywhere in the manual how to set the midi out for a midi track!?! The manual is useless tbh
