Yes, those three girls were obviously very liberal. You can deduce from what they said that they wish one could speak about these issues more openly.
To be honest, I think those girls are not religious. The only reason they're wearing a hijab is probably because they have no other choice. I don't know why but they give me the impression that they're non believers. :D

+Equinox Just 'cuz they can speak english very well doesn't mean they're non muslims, there are plenty of Muslims in West who discuss religion openly.

When you become the most discriminated demographic in your society, you are indirectly being forced to become critical of your culture and religion. That’s why women seem more reasonable than men in this video.

This idea of conditional acceptance within Arab families or societies really bothers me. My parents are constantly pestering me about being religious, despite my hidden apostasy. They reject all information that contradicts the Quran and maintain some pretty backwards views. The fact that they are so adamant about it depresses me.

I believe there is a differene between having an islamic cultural upbringing and being religiously muslim....for example, i find that the reluctance to criticize Islam is a trait of a people who had an islamic cultural upbringing which forbids this type of thing. But converts will regularly engage in debate about Islam bc most (not all, but most) understand that in a country where freedom of speech is prevalent, that YOU NEED TO DEFEND YOUR IDEAS FROM CRITICISM.
I always feel sad to see another youngster leave Islam bc of the stranglehold their muslim family or friends or society has on their freedom to express themselves, it basically gives you little choice but to leave Islam...but i understand why you leave.

      Jaqua Shabazz
The problem isn't so much what the quran says, its how its enforced by those who follow it.
Nobody wants to be forced to believe or do anything. Like if you love a particular food you'd probably hate it after a while if someone forced you to eat it when you didnt want to....that's kind of what's happening w islam.

The issue with regards to criticizing religion in Islam is that most Muslims don't have a very in depth understanding of the religion, that's why people are scared that if they criticize anything in religion that it means that they're criticising the whole religion, when in reality they might not be, maybe they are infact just criticizing a radical concept or ideology within religious academics.
For example, when I was a teenager I thought as a Muslim I would become sinful if I were to criticize al Qaeda, Osama bin Laden, or extremist ideologies because I thought it meant that I was criticising the religion. When I went to Africa (best places are Mauritania with Sh. Abdullah bin Bayyah and Murabitul Hajj and in Darul Uloom Azaadville (South Africa) with Sh. Abdullah Dabhelia, Sh. Ahmed Chotia, and his twin brother Sh. Muhammad Chotia. When I studied by these scholars, sat in their seminars, and read their books) they taught me straight from the Quran and the Sunnah about how killing Jews and non Muslims are not allowed in Islam, and they openly condemned 9/11 and taught me that as a Muslim I'm allowed to criticize extremist and militant ideologies, and that by helping eradicate extremist ideologies I'm actually getting rewarded each time an innocent Jew, Christian, or non-practicing Muslim is safe from harm and evil, and that all these extremist and militant ideologies have nothing to do with Islam.
I implore that everyone listens to individuals like Hamza Yusuf, Habib Ali Jafri [great grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (ص)], Zaid Shakir, Murrabitul Hajj, Dr. Timothy Winter, and Sh. Abdullah bin Bayyah if they want to know how other Muslims can help fight against religious extremism.

Asma Atamna they dont get it. Brainwashing works too well. Its clear their is NO equality in religion, weither muslim jew or Christian. They are misogynistic mumbo jumbo that punishes women because of the short comings of men, I.e. hijab. IF it was really about the support of the family, then the man and woman would have gotten a smaller, equal share and the rest would have went specifically towards the maintainence of the children. If no children, equal shares. But when you have 4 wives to support, you need that extra share. Another example of punishing women because of the short comings of men........

The people are not well educated about islam . It's pretty clear from the video. Had there been good scholar like people, they would have responded to all of these answers fairly as they would have the wisdom of islam. For example, that equality thing he asked. She could have replied that it's a western ideology of a different kind of equality. We already have equality in Islam in its true sense. We are equal a humans and in respect . Only the roles are divided to make it simpler . A man is made the protector and provider because of their capability to earn but that doesn't mean that women can't earn . Just that there are more jobs for men based on certain capabilities and women aren't burdened with earning . It's her choice if she wants to work but can't be forced . Like this, she can focus on family needs coz someone needs to take care of that too . Women are good at multitasking and nurturing . They take care of home well. Now I am not saying that men can't do that . It's only the division of roles for the simplicity without genders fighting each other like what's happening now. I really wish they talked to educated people regarding this ( educated both in worldly affairs and religion)

Khalida Jarrar MP is a political prisoner of Israel.. again.
Israeli authorities re-arrested the prominent Palestinian lawmaker in an overnight military raid across the occupied West Bank, officials said on Sunday.

    Haaretz Editorial, Dec 2015:
"What does jailing a Palestinian politician say about Israeli democracy?"
Khalida Jarrar is a political prisoner. The Ofer Military Court, which on Monday sentenced the Palestinian parliamentarian to 15 months in prison for membership in an illegal organization and incitement, is a political court that punished her for her political activity, and for that alone. Thus Israel, which pretends to be a democracy, has political prisoners, political arrests and political prison sentences, at least in the occupied territories.
Jarrar’s trial once again proved the intolerable contradiction between the rule of law and the principles of justice, on one hand, and the military justice system on the other. The latter has no relationship to the former.
Jarrar was arrested at her home in Al-Bireh in April. The defense establishment claimed at the time that the reason for the arrest was her violation of a military order that allowed her to live only in the Jericho area, far from her home. No other crime was mentioned. Later, she was indicted on 12 different counts, some of them ridiculous and even outrageous, like attending a book fair and paying condolence visits. In the end, she was convicted on two counts in a plea bargain.
One military court judge ordered her freed long ago; another ordered her kept in prison until the end of her trial; and the military prosecutor threatened her - and essentially the court as well - by saying that if she were released, she’d be thrown in jail without trial, in other words placed in administrative detention. This is not how the legal system of a properly run state conducts itself.
Even the fact that Jarrar is a legislator, a member of parliament, an elected representative of her people - a post that ought to grant her immunity from political charges - didn’t give her a moment’s protection. Israel treated her brutally, just as it treats every Palestinian it deems suspect.
First it tried to keep her away from her hometown with a draconian military order. Then it tried to put her in administration detention, which is no less arbitrary. Finally, and only after public and international pressure for her release had intensified, members of the military justice system were forced to fabricate an indictment against her - most of which, as noted, collapsed. Essentially, this was a Band-Aid, based at least in part on dubious evidence, including vague hearsay evidence and testimony obtained under pressure.
The fact that Jarrar was thrown into prison because of her political activity on behalf of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine is first and foremost an indictment of the State of Israel, which puts politicians on trial because of their legitimate opposition to the occupation and even sentences them to jail. Jarrar and her attorneys decided to accept the plea bargain in order to shorten her trial, and thereby the length of her detention until the end of proceedings. But the black flag that flies over the shameful imprisonment of a Palestinian member of parliament will continue to fly over the State of Israel, tarnishing her jailers and, above all, those who are responsible for them.

Yasser Arafat was the worst thing to happen to the Palestinian people, but instead of acknowledging that they desperately need good leadership that does not promote terrorism, and will accept Israel and the fact that Jews live in the Middle East, they just blame Israel for all of their problems. If Israel never declared Statehood, what would have happened? Jews would have been blocked from the Western Wall, more of the Jewish Quarter in the Old City would have been destroyed, it would have been more of the same. just because Palestinian leadership wants to continue the violence and suffering doesn't mean Israel shouldn't be allowed to prosper, and all these anti-Zionists put emphasis on Palestinian lives but literally de-value all Israeli lives

They're literally pleading Israel's case. I get it, some Muslims and Jews may have gotten along, although it's usually along the lines of ,"Jews were "tolerated" at best, and were lucky to at least not have been killed." It's like a slave-owner saying how he owns slaves but doesn't whip or beat them so they should be grateful. I've seen the contemptuous way Muslims look at Jews just for praying or wearing a tallit. They don't understand modern societal behavior, like, if a Jewish person were to pray within ear-shot of them, they would literally take that as an "act of insult and aggression" that must be met with violence. we talk about people in the U.S. provoking police-officers and getting shot. Jews couldn't accidentally brush shoulders with a Muslims on the street without being hit or taken to court

Those 3 Palestinians girls were right to say that the Arab society was judgemental, yet the example brought forward was critical. Especially they as Muslim girls, because LGBT rights aren't accepted in Islam, they go against what Allah has decreed, I would say that western culture and Islam are two separate constructs Islam is seen as an old, traditional religion that is no longer needed, yet the principles that are laid within Islam, are the very principles required for a sane and respectable society. Thus culture is criticized because as said, the Honor Killings are out of pride, which is an idea that Allah dislikes very much, showing religion - Islam specifically, can never be judged.
