Question: If I am tuning EFI in open loop and the fuel parameters are flashed to the ECU, are you stating there will be no adjustments made in an open loop system like that of a closed loop system? Therefore, a solid tune at 5,000 feet elevation will require fueling adjustments for sea level to compensate for greater air density (more oxygen)? I've noticed at least 14% greater air density at sea level over current elevation + density altitude that is reaching 7,500 feet. Please clarify.
Hi i have lexus is200 year 2000 with a 1gfe engine and i cant get it to start. I had it on the diagnostic and its stuck it open loop do you know what i should check/replace to try fix it? Any help would be much appreciated thanks.
1994 Dodge B-250 , 5.2 , this is a van I have completely gone through engine rebuild blue printed all new sensors OEM parts . All the sensors are working new ECM. Here is the issue. With the engine completely cold, turn the key to the on position the IAC opens way up (Setting itself up for a fast cold idle ) soon as you start the van the AIC closes to a slow idle position, and stays that way when the vehicle is fully warm, then runs great I just don’t have a cold fast idle. I believe something is happening during the cranking cycle what would cause this ? ( Engine was hooked up to a scan tool all sensors working New positive and negative battery cables all ground points cleaned off new 880 cold cranking amp Northstar battery , this is my personal vehicle it is my back up handicap van I’ve had it since brand new so it’s worth making everything work perfect , no wires have ever been cut ,11.35 cranking volts at the battery. I do have a plug in the EGR valve as I don’t like exhaust in my intake. DTCs are : 12 , 37 , 32 , 32 ( The blinking check engine light gave me a code 32 twice ) ( Engine almost acts like from key on position to actually starting engine going straight to “ Close loop mode “ ).
Ok how about this grey area when your apparently "open loop" but you use the parameter you are targeting as one of the axis on the table you set up to control it ?...so in idle control you use rpm as one axis and say Map or temprature for the other ..or you use Map as one axis for your boost control modern ecus witch allow you to select differnt things as an axis make me very unenthusiastic for the closed loop PID can of worms game . So if the feedback just feeds the table not the PID control is it still closed loop ?
Dry sump is the term you want to be searching with. Hope that helps - Taz. www.hpacademy.com/blog/dry-sumps-wet-sumps-and-accusumps-explained-mountune-tech-talk/
This is literally the least explanatory video I have ever seen. Not that I didnt understand the "jargon" being spoken, but there was nothing said that actually MEANT ANYTHING!?!?
What specifically are you struggling with Christopher? Open Loop is covered up until 0:45, and from there Closed Loop is explained for the same scenario. Essentially Open Loop is fixed, Closed Loop is adaptive as explained in the video here - Taz.

Does an aftermarket slip-on needs a dyno run inspite of having a close loop system
Doesn't need it if the rest of the exhaust is stock but it wouldn't hurt.

Not what I was looking for. I want a closed loop oil system Oil pump for when your climbing gnarly hills
