To me (as someone in their mid thirties) golden hour reminds me of that feeling of infatuation and reckless puppy love that you can only have for that first person you truly fall in love with. It reminds me of youth and teenage years driving around with that special girl. You are so young and naive, and caught up in that young love that you are just completely absorbed with this person. It feels like perfection. You are able to just completely open yourself up immediately without hesitation and completely expose who you are with each other because you haven't been burned before. Going on walks, driving around, watching sunset, holding each other in the dark, whispering to each other, talking all night on the phone, etc... We've all experienced love like that with someone. Me and my first love were both virgins who had never been in love before. We were together 5 years and had a son together in the end. Some of the times that we shared were so special and I will always treasure them. We are still great friends but were both married so we have more or less stopped talking completely outside of our son because it's just really hard to communicate when you have loved someone that deeply without feeling pain or old feelings coming up. Particularly since we are both happy with who we are with now. Really we hardly know each other anymore. It's the memories of that love and time spent that we each cherish. It was a difficult break up but we had things that we couldn't reach compromises on that were going to lead to big problems. So we split. We both more or less immediately got with other people to try and help the other and ourselves get over each other. It was tough as hell. But we did it. It feels really wrong to do that when you're that close with someone. Usually people split up when they've grown cold and hateful toward each other. We never got that way. Anyway... I'm rambling. When I hear this song I think of that special golden time that you can only experience as a kid. As you get older men and women are more mature and very hesitant to love so hard so fast (for good reason). The truth of the matter is you really don't start to truly love someone for a LOOONG time. I have been married 12 years and my definition and understanding of love has changed a lot over that time. Love isn't a feeling of attraction or happiness. Love is what you have for your child. It's something that is unconditional. No matter what my children do I am still going to love them. That is how I love my wife now. I would give my life for her or my children. I would come to her aid no matter how upset I was with her, I would never leave her side no matter WHAT. Cheating, lying, stealing, I would stay through any of it to try and make it work as long as she was willing to correct course and keep trying for me. Because that is how I love my wife and that is what I vowed to do when I married her. When you marry someone you are becoming one with them. Don't give up on them anymore than you would give up on yourself. Marriage isn't an agreement to be happy and in love all the time. Marriage is an agreement to stick together when you hate each other and everything is going wrong. When you want to rip each other's heads off, when you can't come to agreements and have to go to bed for a week straight unable to look at each other. You keep trying, you keep reaching out, you keep trying to find that middle ground even when they aren't willing to reciprocate in the moment. Never forget this simple truth about marriage. Just because you aren't happy right now, doesn't mean you won't be tomorrow or even a year from now. People change in life, they grow and they learn. Just because you are going through a time doesn't mean you have to throw it away. That's a decision that you make. Divorce is no one's fault but the person who initiates it. That's how it always has been. You used to be shamed for it and for good reason. If you want to be able to leave someone because you are unhappy with them then don't marry them because that is NOT what you are vowing to do when you marry someone. That's why some people can stay married, and why other people go through 4 marriages and still can't keep a partner. Life is not a lifetime movie, no one is going to be your happy ever after. We are ALL human and we are all flawed. The things you love about your partner today may be the exact things to drive you crazy about them five years from now. But if you really love them than you are going to accept it and keep working together with them. That's what marriage really is. If you aren't prepared to face those things than don't do it.

My piano is aligned in view of a window, and every day before sunset, the sun hits the keys and fills the room with the most beautiful mellow light and for some unbeknownst psychological reason, it makes me write songs better
