Hello everyone I am a Colombian and I talk a little English because I like this fights. Yet I do not know the meaning of “Catchweight”. I put it on the translator and I did not get a real meaning for that. Can someone explain me what means “catchweight” please?
An agreed upon weight by the two parties, not a specified weight. So for example: You may see something like a welterweight (170lbs) fighting a light heavyweight (205lbs) at a catch weight of 185lbs
To be clear, the catchweight is still a weight limit above which neither fighter can go; it's used in cases where the normal weight classes that one fighter can reasonably cut or gain weight to achieve are too different from those of the other fighter.
