That iron county 11 pointer had no idea how lucky he was looking into the eyes of the “serial killer” himself like that and get a free pass! I love it that you guys made it up to the UP! Good luck!
Get that dog a damn kid to play with... holy wah.... My wife even wanted to know what the hell I was trying to listen to. I said hell if I know 🤷 but I never skipped over it. Ya know I didn't want to miss out on any important info about a location... Not gonna lie, you guys make me so damn nervous when you start showing maps and talking about county lines and cedar swamps it gives me 🥶 thinking about it, and I find myself scouring the videos looking for distinct trees or terrain features of the area your in just to keep my mind at ease about the places I hunt and have figured out just hoping that I don't see anything familiar.
My best friend had a cabin on 240 ac.in North west Marquette county and would hunt it all of firearm season. His party (4) all knew the migration trails and would set up accordingly. He in 1995 saw 93 deer pass by his shack in 1 day 12 were bucks and he killed a old wide 10 pt. Can't remember the year but they got 40" of snow over a 24 hr period and could not drive any where even though they had installed chains on their truck tires. His brother snowshoed to a Snowmobile trail and put up a "HELP" sign.A snowmobile came to the cabin and transported him to the nearest phone where he summonsed help and they were happy to see a Giant front loader pull up in front of the cabin even though it cost them a $1,000.00. Cabin was 19 miles off a main highway.Split 4 ways it was worth it.The deer migrated north to a deer yard near Skanee, they didn't leave until there was near 18"of snow so timing was every thing...
As a hunter from Michigan and have hunted the UP for close to 25 years it's a different kinda hunting up there and you can see why we have the deer loss we have every year up there from starvation. If you can find those pockets of deer yards you will see a lot of deer every sit. Snow shoes are almost a must have when going up there otherwise you will work your butt off just scouting around. I love to see you guys make this a annual trip along with the others that participated in your annual challenges anyhow. What's always amazed me hunting up there and the gentleman at the bar hit it on the head is that the deer have it bred into them on where the migration routes are from year to year but just the opposite meaning in the spring time and summer they will return back to their original home and I have years of trailcam pictures to show this. Best of luck up there fellas cause you will earn it. Be safe out there and looking forward to the next video.
Dan if you want to hunt the migration trails, you have to hunt the U.P. counties were it really snows. Iron county is not one of them, Gogebic, Ontonagon, Houghton & Keweenaw county get way more snowfall, and have/had way better migrations.
Man i wanted to throw that dogs toy out in the middle of an interstate highway. lol interesting episode. You dont see much "upper p" hunting on the TH-cam.
Awesome video! Nice to see you guys in the upper peninsula of my state lol by far my favorite part of the state . At least it's only a couple hour drive for me to get up there lol
So awesome you guys were so close to my area. That guy is a Debbie downer, saying there's no Big Bucks up here. Or he just doesn't find them. I'm right on the northern Ashland and iron county border. That would be a dream to just be the guy who can show you some spots around here. I've found a lot of giant sheds that tells me there's big bucks around that my cams did not catch. I was on a 3 year Chase for a 160s class, all woods no Ag fields but I think he got shot right off the road back in mid August. Well anyway hope you at least see a giant big woods buck and thanks for the videos.
Great content bros!! Did I hear your here for a week? I’ll keep feeding them beets and carrots in my yard so y’all give me more great content lol 😂! Good luck and watch the wolfs 🐩
I hunted the migration route in the UP at our cabin for years. It is very weather triggered and regulated. Factor in the wolf population which intensified migration as the wolves follow them and drive them, at least in the North Eastern UP. You hit it right and boom you can score, Miss it your in for a lonely time in the woods.
Dan you won’t believe this ,,I am 66 and have never ate a peanut butter n jelly sandwich,, i have tasted a few and did not like them ,,and I am not a funny eater , I eat turnip greens three or four times a week and absolutely love them.
Years ago I was in a bar up there and I mentioned to my buddies how the deer would migrate and they laughed at me. I got made fun of pretty good lol. All the locals did clear the air and took my side. Love that u.p and there are some hogs up there. Good luck guys I hope you have success!

Great video but I hope you guys realize now that the so called migration trails you guys were looking at are just trails of the deer going to private property where ppl feed the deer year round. You gotta go further north to find the migration.
The trails we were looking at were in the deer yards and in peoples yards. We missed the migration but there are several distict migration areas and we were hunting near the smaller one around Iron mountain. We ended up hunting where the deer were yarded up because we were late for the migration.
