Hello and welcome to Sri Lanka for a remade VOICEOVER review from this spectacular South Asian country!
Today we will be riding one of the most scenic routes in Sri Lanka, and seeing one of the country's most popular tourist attractions, for train enthusiasts, Instagrammers and TikTokers alike, the Nine Arch Bridge form both off and onboard the train, so sit back and so I hope you enjoy the video!

There are some gems in Indian Railway routes which are never covered much by international vloggers. The Kashmir Railway, Konkan Route, Shimla toy train, kerela routes, east coast railway route etc are some the most beautiful routes you might experience

Also try the two railway viaducts in Sebnitz. Go to Dresden, take the Twindexx/Traxx train to Bad Schandau, then take the Desiro to Sebnitz (7 tunnels and 2 big viaducts), take another Desiro to Pirna, then the Twindexx/Traxx train to Heidenau, and finally take the Desiro to Altenberg (5 tunnels). Eat a Döner there, then go back to Dresden via Heidenau. You can do this in one day easily.

I never knew Sri Lanka had such great train trips. I think you ask for train travel ideas and I've been through your Hungary list, and you don't seem to have travelled on Budapest's Children's Railway. We did so in 2014 I think, tram to the cog train into the Buda hills, then on the railway run by children with the exception of the engine driver. It was marvellous. The train terminates at a tram terminus, so it is easy to get back to Pest.

4:41 people get off at ella cuz the best part is between kandy and ella. Nine arch bridge should be experienced from being on the bridge rather than being on the train😅

Have you done the Semmeringbahn in Austria? I think you may have done. When we did it, we then caught a direct train across the Alps (of course, it was raining!) from Graz to Jenbach (I think it terminated in Innsbruck). It was a very weird train - seemed to have been made up of all sorts of leftover coaches from other consists. Comfortable enough in first class, though! Do you have a video on that line? If not....

@@NonstopEurotrip Yes, I thought you'd done Semmering - but have you done the direct route from Graz towards Innsbruck, e.g. on IC 518? It takes >5 hours, and the ICs seem to be made up of random leftover coaches - but incredibly comfortable and worth it!

Well in sri lanka you can reach upto 120 kmph in northern line and 100kmph in coastal line. But in this upcountry line the maximum speed allowed is 32 kmph due to tight curves and altitude. So yeah it is very slow as the train will be travelling at around 30 kmph most of the time😅
How does that observation carriage turn round for the return? I don't imagine it reverses all the way back to Ella.
That's a great question 😂
Well they have this locomotive train table at Badulla which is the last station of this route. So before coming back they load the carriage to turn table and turn it over so when the train is coming back passengers will still get the same view. And when going back from colombo to badulla again they turn the carriage. That is how it is done.😂
@@NonstopEurotrip On the way back the observation car is hooked up right behind the locomotive, not much fun and full of diesel fumes. The trip is much better in 2nd or even 3rd class carriages

@@NonstopEurotrip Thanks. I found two rail options from Mark Smith (Man in Seat 61) which includes changing trains in Lyon.
I did Columbo to Kandy , there was no first class or observation car though. The stations trains and landscape were similar but that 7 arched bridge was spectacular. Yes, the stations are wonderful there, the semafore signals too.
There was something constantly worrying about being in Sri Lanka as If war could break out at any time.
Have you been over the Goteik trestle bridge in north east Burma/Myanmar ? I think you'd like that.
The intonation of your voice is still very slightly unusual at times but that makes the videos unique and a bit different is my conclusion

@@spacedh5275 yes, it was a long time, maybe 18 years since I was there. The damage from the Boxing Day Tsunami was still there on the beaches. Where I stayed (Negombo) , there were terrorist bombs that killed many churchgoers only a few years ago
