Nice review:) Lot's of competition now in this price range, which is very good for the consumer. VTOMAN and Pecron give you the 1.5KW battery, which is 50% more than the venerable Delta 2 and about 30% higher than the AC180. Having an app is a nice extra that VTOMAN has yet to offer, but having the ability to jump start your car is really much better than an app!

I purchase this unit based off your recommendation. Two things I wish you would've mentioned, is that it trips a ground fault outlet and... if you leave it plugged in charging after it is fully charged, it is always drawing 80 W with all the orange buttons turned off, and no draw.

    • @omm7763
      @omm7763 ปีที่แล้ว

Wow, I'm going to need to test this. 80 W seems like way too much!

    • @omm7763

@@scottmurphy4946 I checked this, it does have a parasitic drain of about 72 w when fully charged with no draw and 65 W while charging and draining. The UPS I think is a top-of-the-line UPS. It is charging the battery, then all power is being drawn from the battery.
I also found when I turned off the breaker and back fed through a GFI it tripped.
Since you have 2 kill a watt testers, put one before the unit charging and put one on one of the outlets and put a 200 W load for one hour. This would be a worthy demonstration for a lot of guys using this for UPS computers and security systems. I would love to see the video.
You could try a kill-o-watt meter in your wall outlet feeding this unit, then put another kiil-o-watt meter feeding a fridge from the AC output of this unit. Maybe test it for a 24 hour period.

How long did you leave it after it started saying 80 watts? Sounds like the cells are only pulling ~0.05C (80/1500) - that 80 watts must be going somewhere.
I'd leave it for another 24 hours and say what it says then. This will let it top-balance the cells.
Does it tell you its battery voltage? (To be certain that it's not holding it at a silly high voltage.)

One of the primary things i look for with a large battery unit like this is the ability to turn itself and load circuits back on after a complete power outage, the ability to use solar and AC at the same time, and when the sun is out to prioritize the use of solar.

Solar Panel Question - The specs says input voltage of (Anderson Input) 30V-60V at 400W and (DC Input) at 12V-20V 200W. I am new to power stations and solar panels and I watched your solar panel review video. I'm still learning and confused so perhaps a simple questions
    1. What economical solar panel or panels do you recommend.
I have a much better understanding after watching your videos but sometimes is easier to just ask questions :-) Thanks

I'm using 2 100w panels wired in series to get 36v nominal output (in full sun usually kicks out around 50v). It's hard to find panels that will put out more than 30v so you will likely have to build your own (or buy the folding panel from VTOMan). One note: I have two of these units and NEITHER will charge reliably on solar - they will work fine for weeks and then just decide to stop charging. I have not been able to determine a cause of this.

Its funny that they are all adopting the Oukitel form factor, complete with handles and cable storage compartment. The layout of the plugs is a bit different, and the internals are clearly going to be different. But the form factor is clearly copied from Oukitel's P2001. The voltages look similar too,
As with other power stations, the charging and regulation circuitry is not really all that efficient. All of these vendors are still cheaping out on design quality. It would be nice to test the USB-C discharge efficiency to see if it is any better. Those tend to use dedicated support chips for voltage regulation which are usually around 90% efficient.
Note that the "watt" display is likely completely wrong when you are charging and discharging at the same time. All of these power stations copied the same broken design and the readings all go wonky when doing that, across many models and vendors. You need to put a kill-a-watt on both the input and output.
Final item... note that kill-a-watt's and similar devices generally can't handle continuous power anywhere near what they say they can handle on the label. It might seem odd since it just goes through a shunt, but the problem is that the contacts on the kill-a-watt socket tend to not be well-plated (or plated at all) and tend to corrode and oxidize over time. The result is excessive heat due to poor contact area and the plastic starts to melt around the socket. So watch for that.

  • @omm7763

Amazing review. But, I don't believe there is pass through Power via AC to AC. I do believe that the battery is continuously charged, and the pure AC sin wave is always being pulled from the battery. A good test for this would be plug-in the charging cord and run 1800 W to see if the voltage drops. My bet is that it does.
Next, it would be really nice if you took the VTOMAN 1800 and charged this new one through the AC pure sine wave. This would give me 600 W charging with a previously purchased item. This could be a game changer.

Pecrons extra battery price is hefty compared to vtomans jump extra battery though but offers its own solar input. • @ReeWrayOutdoors

I think where I was going with that was simply that if you needed more robust solar charging, VTOMAN didn't really have a viable solution since their entire Jump line was relegated to only 200W or less. But with the FlashSpeed series, that limitation has been 'resolved' in that they DO now have a solution with more robust solar input capacity (not that they've resolved the limitation in the Jump series).

It was pointed out by another tester that the added-battery causes interruption during the charging process, due to the method ZTOMAN uses with the extra-battery discharging first, then the unit shutting down in operation. A decent test of this discharge/recharge cycle and a smooth-operation would be appreciated, as it is an important aspect of the X-series... especially, when left unattended and in UPS-mode. Thank you.

After I watch your review, I spent almost $4000 on their product. I don't know if you got this for free or not. But I spent my own hard working money on this product after your review. I purchased two of the flash 1500s and two more extra batteries. Their product didn't work together perfectly and seamlessly like they advertised. • @ReeWrayOutdoors

I think it'd have to a pretty cool ambient temp for the fans to NOT run when this unit is charging. Personally, I don't mind it so much if they're running continually vs cycling on and off constantly, which I find much more annoying. But as I said, that's a personal preference and you might feel differently.

Hey, Thank you for all your videos! Excellent job. Can you tell me if you would reccomend the bluetti ac180 or the VTOMAN Jump 1500X. Using it for a small tear drop camping trailer. • @ReeWrayOutdoors

You'll pay more for the AC180, but if you've got the funds, I'd go with the AC180 over the Jump station. You should be able to charge either one from the Firman generator as long as it's outputting at least 110V.

Use one of those plug-in meters to see the maximum amps it pulls. This station can probably deliver ~12.5 amps (1500/120.) It might be able to stretch it a bit my lowering the voltage, but that's assuming that the load will pull less current when the voltage is lowered. I guess a fog machine is basically a heater and will be fine.

Thanks for the review. I am very much considering this unit. I recently received the Jump 1500x and Pecron E600. Both of those are excellent jobsite and camping power stations. However, neither are very convenient for power outage and backup duty. I'm a bit turned off by BLUETTI. The EB3A, that I thought would be like an EDC, has been relegated to my computer station UPS. The other station I find very intriguing is the MARXON G1500. There isn't a lot of user data, but it is an interesting unit. Blessings to all and have the day you deserve.

Hi. I have a question about vtoman jump 1500 and I have 220w solars that came in the deal with them, but when it's a bit bright the station will light up the numbers will flash, well 1 of them but watts stay at zero. I have it on the balcony,at the moment sun is not high enough yet in UK. But...I thought that it will show some watts. It has charged 3%,which I didn't see because I was at work but it was showing after few hours. Well that would be quite horrible if it would have to charge 30 days for nearly full charge. Have you used yours on a cloudy day and what did it do?
