I see that Mr Moralis is now promoted as a Uebel clarinet artist. I see that he has videos posted regarding his Uebel clarinet. 👍🏻

Best to you Ricardo...love the sound you produce. Wish you could come to Quito, Ecuador and show your talent. And, teach me some Spanish.

You Guys at Backun Musical are such excellent Clarinet makers! Have you ever wondered about making other woodwind stuff like bassoon bocals?

Sorry, do you use double staccato for the A Midsummer Night's Dream Scherzo? Thx.

I see how important it is to play the instrument before buying it (it took me many weeks to choose the right piano). However, I still don't play a single note of clarinet, I just wanted to start playing it - what then?
Anyway, the video is great, thanks for sharing it!

Hmm, for a 10k instrument, it is devoid of focused and warm tone. Probably great intonation, but the sound is towards on the edgy side, i have a moba and it sounds very bright on my r13, though it is used on my stuffy sounding e11 A clarinet

He uses the "alternate" fingering for F sharp (clarion register), is there any reason for this? (pitch?)

      That's what I'd guess.

Some ALTERNATIVE (not alternate) fingerings are easier to do in some songs, music, solos etc.

The alternate fingering F# has a slightly better sound than the standard fingering. Use it whenever you have to sustain long notes. I use it a lot.

Buffet Crampon is the best in my opinion, although I haven't tried a Backun Clarinet yet.

I've heard Buffet R13 and Yamaha YCL-CSVR are really good clarinets. It depends on how well of a clarinet you are. Armstrong is a good brand also.

Yamaha ycl 255 is the bomb and most durable

Moba coco barrel for e11 A. And fatboy coco barrel for my r13 Bb. Better intonation than buffet, chadash, but edgy and bright sound.

Si vas a hablar en Ingles, no te comas las palabras. OK, evenness of sound, 'actual' color and shape of the sound. Those are not measurable quantities, they are subjective to the player or listener. You can't measure color or evenness of sound. Evenness of sound relates to the experience of the player. What can be measured though is the tune, that is measurable with tune instruments. The resistance is also related to a player, the reed and the mouthpiece. What I look for a clarinet is the workmanship of the instrument itself, the finish on the interior chamber of the instrument, the way the keys work, how easy it is to change registers, even before I blow a single note. I know you are a symphony orchestra player, however, most of what you are stating in the vernacular is total bullshit. I can review 20 clarinets, check them out for finish, keywork, etc. and blow on them with same mouthpiece and reed, and know which ones I like and which one I will discard. That only comes with experience, which is what you have. You cannot measure subjectivity. Furthermore, you are a Backun representative so you are biased to the brand. Now if you had several name brands and you tested them all and gave a review, it would be a better way to determine: "What to look for a Clarinet." In meantime learn better English so I, a Spanish speaker can understand you. Stop swallowing the last letters of the words.
