    Barrels really depend on what type clarinet you are putting them on. And of course the player, and the type of sound you are wanting to achieve. Same way with mouth pieces. You will get as many different opinions on barrels and mouth pieces as there are people that play....lol.....I've been playing for 56 years and love to play jazz. When I changed to a R-13 66mm barrel and a Vandoren 5JB mouth piece, it really opened up my sound volume and gave me that BIG FAT sound that so many jazz players are looking for. BUT, someone else could be searching for the same sound change and accomplish it with different barrel and mouth piece. If you have been playing less than 5 years, I would not even worry too much about barrels and mouth pieces. You will know when to make a change, and that change should ONLY be based on the sound you are looking for. NOT what someone else recommends. Bottom line, YOU have to try out the barrels and mouthpieces to know.

    I prefer the moba grenadilla and fatboy grenadilla barrels....the sound is more dark....:)but perhaps for the weber concertino of the cocobolo is better because the sound is more brilliant ....

    Ricardo, ese picado tan rápido como se consigue, se nace con ello? Porque yo por mucho que practiqué, jamás llegué a esa velocidad.

    I fell in love with your clarinet at first hearing. Is she married? - Seriously, for classical music, I like the fatboy best.

    I have a Buffet R13, with a standard barrel, and an M13 mouthpiece. What are your opinions on how these barrels work with Buffet instruments?

      Personally when I tried it I think it worked quite well, though I prefer an R13 with a BD5 13 Series and any Cocobolo barrel, with the MOBA being by preference

    I have a Hanson Rosewood T5 and find I need a shorter barrel (65mm currently) and am considering a Backun. I just starting playing the last year after a 38 year (ugh) hiatus. Sounds like the Fatboy might be my choice. Any suggestions on length or other considerations?

    • @juliyanmartinez3785
      @juliyanmartinez3785 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rob21ization I had the same exact issue I just had to stop using it I guess it’s just how the clarinet reacts to your mouthpiece/instrument

    • @CL-be7bn
      @CL-be7bn 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rob21ization hella late but it could be the type of clarinet you have, or the mouthpiece you have, like you can’t use a French mouthpiece on a European clarinet, it will destroy he tuning in terms of flat it sharp (it’ll be all of the place) id look into your clarinet or mouthpiece and it may also be an embouchure or ligature problem the more you upgrade your equipment the more you have to upgrade your skill and technique

    • @CL-be7bn

    • @samshirley1962
      @samshirley1962 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      DannyMC depends on what you want. I find that the shorter barrel is more punchy while the longer barrel is more dark and mysterious if that makes any since

    • @Andonirubik
      @Andonirubik 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends of your country temperatures and Hz affination of your band or orchestra. I have a Bb Buffet RC 1113 AG with 65 mm barrel and I'd need usually open it 3 mm in summer to achieve A=442 Hz tone with my band. I think 67 mm would fit better. 3.5 V12 Vandoren Reeds and B40 mouthpiece...

    Esta gente no tiene en cuenta el mercado latinoamericano, este clarinetista es latino y no hace nada para los latinos. Les aseguro que los mejores músicos de esta generación serán latinos. Señor Ricardo morales tenga en cuenta a su raza, enseñele a los jóvenes y niños de América latina. Ellos no hablan inglés HABLAN ESPAÑOL.

    Barrels dont make any difference. IMHO
    Just practice, 4 or 5 hours every day and you Will see what you can achieve.

    • @lambertj.2892
      @lambertj.2892 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree with this. Practice is what makes the difference in your playing, not the barrel.

    • @Andonirubik
      @Andonirubik 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Reed, mouthpiece, reed ligature and internal mouth cavity shape have the biggest influence in your sound. Barrels and the rest of the clarinet body are not very important... The nearer of the point when sound is produced , the most important influence has... Sorry for my english. 😉
