    up to how many LEDs can we add in this circuit. Can i use more LEds for more levels. If i cant what are the changes i shuld make in the circuit so that it works with more levels

    hello! very nice your circuit it works fine, but...My son has an old VW truck with a water level sensor, and the dash board doesn't correspond at this model, normally there is a light wich comes on when there is no water, so the oposite job of your set up. Do you have any idea how I can have the light coming on when the level goes down? Also, I'm planning to collect the rain water and when there is not enough in the tank I could switch a pump to maintain a minimun level with normal water. Did I explain? When the level goes down the led should light up. Thanks for your videos.

    Hi, I have done this in a big water tank (3500l) at home. Intead of BC548, I used ULN2803 transistor driver, which is probably not as sensitive as BC548. It worked great for a month, but than lights did not work any more. Only one worked. I checked the PCB board and there it all works fine. So the problem must be in water. Is it possible that the copper contacts in water oxidated or something like that, and the resistance increased too much?

    What I mean is , if I were to increase the number of levels indicated and therefore also the number of led in the circuit, would the resistor used be the same or different? And if different, how would u find out the resistor used for the new circuit?

  • @mayankmishra4637
    @mayankmishra4637 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi your video shows awesome work and I am trying to make it
    because tank is on the 4th floor and everytime one has to go up to see
    if it is filled.
    I have made the circuit as described. Previously I used lower resistor
    so the led got burnt but putting wires in the water it was lighting (aft
    sm time led burnt). Then I used 1k ohm, it was still lighting but very
    low. Later I learnt the colour coding. Now that I have learnt the colour
    coding of the resistor I have a 220 ohm which I am using with 547
    transistor. Its not working. I have tried with 100 ohm. tried series
    with 220+220 ohm. No luck. Now am again using 1ohm & 1k ohm (which
    were working previously) but even they are not working now. circuit is
    as previous. every wire connected to breadboard and respective place.
    Can u tell me what is the problem? Is there any way to check at which
    stage current is coming or something.

    Does the water contain salt? How come the LED lights up when water touches wires in the bowl?

    • @miniman2864
      @miniman2864 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      stompdirtyyard distilled water has no metal ions in it so it can't conduct electricity (which is what i think you're thinking of) however, tap water has been through a lot of metal piping so it's picked up metal ions allowing it to conduct electricity

    • @stompdirtyyard
      @stompdirtyyard 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Harry O'Brien I was able to conduct this experiment and it worked but i used different schematic and an Arduino. To make the water conduct electricity a wire from the battery or the +5V of the microprocessor was directly placed into the water which would make sense why connecting the "level" wires to the gates of the bjt would make the LED's turn on when water touches the wires.
