    Is there an e-gate at the Cancun airport before coming back to the USA?

  • @donm4452

    I used the E Gates when we arrived in Cancun - they were VERY easy to use. When you prepare to exit the E gate after you have been confirmed and allowed to enter, you receive a "ticket" printed from the machine. You need that paper when you are leaving! When we went to get on our return flight, they asked us for them and we did not have them. We were able to board the plane only because they found that we had arrived via the same airline we were leaving on so they could "vouch" for us arriving! Make sure you save it to avoid a potential hassle when leaving!

      Hi @SDOPHOTO I have heard of some rare instances where individuals have been handed a QR code upon entry that takes them to the site from the video below where they can acquire their digital FMM (which also will have a QR code on it, once generated) I hope that helps! th-cam.com/video/eKv0SihCcGo/w-d-xo.html

    I just got home from Cancun, amazing trip. I used the e-gate and got the small printed "ticket". But when I left to go home I was never asked for the "ticket". So ho do they know I left? Could this cause me a problem if I go back to Mexico in the future?

    • @MixedinMexico
      @MixedinMexico  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi @lawrencebirch1790 I'm glad you enjoyed your trip! If they didn't request your ticket before departing on your flight, no need to worry. They won't always ask every passenger for it; but rest-assured when they scanned your passport information page with your boarding pass, Mexico has been informed of your exit and you should have no issues upon re-entry. I hope that helps! Come back soon! 😊

    What about the process leaving mexico with the e gates..

    • @MixedinMexico
      @MixedinMexico  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi @freedomseezerz440 when you go to board your flight home, the attendant at the gate will request your ticket (the paper your e-gate generated for you upon entry) before you can depart. If you no longer have it or have misplaced it for any reason, you may have to take a quick trip to the INM location in the airport for a new one. I hope that helps! Enjoy your travels!

      Hi Quinton. For now the e-gates are only for citizens of the US, Canada, and a select few other countries. It is up to you, but if your home country is one of the other "select few" then you have the option to try it. Keep in mind that all new initiatives in Mexico might have (what I will call) a "learning curve." I hope that helps!

    • @MixedinMexico
      @MixedinMexico  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Munir. Cancun airport no longer uses/hands out the physical FMM form upon entry into Mexico. Since you are from Canada, if you have an electronic Canadian passport, you will have no problem utilizing the e-gates upon entry and will not need to present anything but your passport upon exiting the country via Cancun, as well. I hope this helps!

    • @MixedinMexico
      @MixedinMexico  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @TackingandTurning Once you exit the e-gates, you will continue to baggage claim; and right after baggage claim (before you exit) is where they could randomly select someone for a bag inspection. I hope that helps! I'll film a video walkthrough of the airport which might be more helpful. 😊👍🏽

    • @MixedinMexico

    • @MixedinMexico
      @MixedinMexico  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi @travelerawakenings8477 You are correct. E-gates are only for tourists at the moment. They are not for residents or citizens because they will mark you down as a tourist in their database, also giving you only a certain amount of days in the country.

    • @travelerawakenings8477
      @travelerawakenings8477 ปีที่แล้ว

      @MixedinMexico I just left Mexico to go to US. I am so confused about this residency thing. I left Mexico on December 1st. I was late to the airport. I didn't have time to think, so because I checked in before I got to the airport, I just went straight to security and through boarding. It was only after I was sitting on the plane that I started thinking: Did I need to show my passport to somewhere to get it stamped, or I only needed to do that when I will return to Mexico? I am really not sure. Please, may you give me some clarity if you know. Thank you

    • @MixedinMexico
      @MixedinMexico  ปีที่แล้ว

      @travelerawakenings8477 are you a temporary or permanent resident of Mexico?

    • @travelerawakenings8477
      @travelerawakenings8477 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MixedinMexico I am a temporary resident

    • @MixedinMexico
      @MixedinMexico  ปีที่แล้ว

      @travelerawakenings8477 As a resident of Mexico, you are required to “check out” with INM upon exiting the country and “check in” with INM upon re-entry into the country. Because you didn’t stop at the INM kiosk at the airport before exiting the country, you may have a little delay in re-entering. I would suggest you to keep your boarding pass/flight number & date of travel handy because they may need that information when you arrive back to Mexico. Make sure you show your resident card to the customs official upon entry and let them know you forgot to stop at INM before exiting (as they will be looking for the stamp that they would’ve given you before departing as a resident). The most important step here is making sure you show them your resident card; otherwise they will mark you in as a tourist…and that is no bueno. I hope this helps! Let me know how it goes for you upon reentry.
