Mistah K she did better than Ryan gosling did during his sketch with Kate.
I bet the second the cameras stopped rolling, she put her head down on the table and shrieked with laughter.
I think it may just be unfair to ask anyone to have to get thru an entire sketch with Kate McKinnon cleanly. And keep in mind, this was far from the first time Robbie saw this, there's the multiple loose rehearsals during the week, then they would've done this exactly the same as it is now for the full dress rehearsal with audience just a handful of hours before air time. There's an old saying "comedy's a lot less funny the second time around". THATS how good McKinnon is, she's still making them break.

I have been saying this for the last 2 years. Each sketch that Kate McKinnon is in she is killing it. I personally find her original characters the funniest. Her impersonations are ok. But for some reason, people always go on and on about Kirsten Wiig- when in truth Wiig was just irritating as hell.
Abhishek Prasad Kate is at the top of the game and has been for years. A golden performer who will certainly win another Emmy! But Kristen Wiig is hysterical too. She stole it at the Globes this year in three minutes with Steve Carell
I love when Margot laughs at around 1:45 and Kate genuinely smiles in return. Too cute.

I think Wiig was a ham. She didnt know when to let other people shine. Kate however knows her role, when to push forward or when to pull back.

Wiig is a showboat, this is true, but I think that's because she doesn't have the comedic range of McKinnon. McKinnon knows exactly how to do more with less so she's far more confident about when to contribute. Wiig may feel that she has to push more to keep momentum.
You're not totally wrong, but I don't think Wiig is a glory hog or a grandstander. She's proven herself a talented person so maybe she does what she does out of a desire to help, not steal.

Yeah. She is really professional. Her and Kate r my favorite cast members
She speaks French too, so that helped with this character. (she spoke French on the first episode after the Paris attacks)

@@joekerr8584 They kept Judy on drugs and diet pills, forced her into marriages, she was constantly sexually assaulted, forced her to have an abortion. It wasnt just Judy tho, many of the actresses from the early days of film were abused..
Laura rodriguez Yep, the teenage actors like Mickey Rooney and Judy were given drugs to keep them awake for long filming days. No one was there to say no for them, they were just kids. It’s so sad.

With the Harvey Weinstein sexual assults being exposed now, it's crazy how accurate Debbette's portrayal of Hollywood was & is. Even tho it's a SNL sketch.
People knew about the Hollywood casting couch for about 100 years
This character is heavily based on Judy Garland in her MGM days. They worked her like a dog, injected her with God knows what to keep her going around that clock, forced her to abort her kid, the list goes on and on.
In every Marilyn doc or anything Ive ever seen of her.. She is always reported as having said essentially what Kate is saying.. Wienstien is just carrying on what is essentially a tradition.. The real luoita would not have been shocked.. She openly stated she had to figure out an escape from wienstiens house as did charlieze theron...

Was that a line from a movie she did or was she having a PTSD flashback of Clark Gable hitting her with a shovel? Considering that Debette is supposed to be a spoof of how messed-up Hollywood was back in the so-called "Golden Age" (from 1935 to the mid-1960s or thereabouts), it could be either-or.

What needs to be proved? It's a subjective opinion, but one can go online and find a good number of people - both critics and the general movie going audience - who thought McKinnon was an acting highpoint of the film. She fine tuned her general shtick involving "kooky" characters and made it work just as well on the big screen. She was funny, charming and likeable and had a great chemistry with her costars that, reception of the film aside, one hopes translates into a long and fruitful career both on screen and on TV.

Many of the things with amphetamines that Debette describes in the beginning sound like things that were actually done to Judy Garland during the earliest part of her career.
I think this whole thing is largely based on Judy Garland. Her life was crazy and crazy wrong.

Kate has done so much with her career and life, built from scratch to top, this is called talent and true hard work. I remember her, not so long ago when she was so new to SNL and look at her now, even Emmy forced itself to make SNL a "skecth comedy" into "comedy series" just to nominate KATE and made her a winner. That was the power of her talent.
