- How could Zinedine Zidane set up Manchester United if he replaced Jose Mourinho as manager? The France legend won the Champions League a record three times in a row as Real Madrid manager and could bring the glory days back to Old Trafford, not seen since Sir Alex Ferguson left the club. If Zidane were to take over at Old Trafford, what would he need to do to bring back to Manchester.

Zidane took over from Rafael Benitez as Real Madrid manager in January 2016. In his first season as manager, the French tactician guided Real Madrid to a historic 11th Champions League title. Zidane implemented a attractive, flexible 4-3-3 with Casemiro holding in midfield and Luka Modric & Toni Kroos dictating the play. The goals that season came from Cristiano Ronaldo who scored 16 goals in the Champions League with Bale and Benzema providing support in a devastating front 3. In his second season in charge, Zizou won the double piping Barcelona to the La Liga title and beating Italian giants Juventus 4-1 in the Champions League final. Zidane slightly tweaked his formation in the second season moving from a 4-3-3 to a 4-4-2 diamond to exploit the 4-4-2, the most popular system in the competition that year. The Frenchman became the first ever manager to retain the Champions League with Real Madrid. Zidane made it three in his final season reverting back to the 4-3-3 and beating Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in the final inspired by Marcelo and Gareth Bale.
The former Juventus playmaker would instantly gain respect of the Manchester United dressing room and would look to build his team around Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial, two of United’s key players. Zidane would implement a fluid 4-3-3 gear to create for a potential front 3 of Leon Bailey, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial. But could also switch to a 4-4-2 diamond with Angel Gomes as a ten. Manchester United have been linked with a number of players as the January transfer window gets in sight. Matthijs de Ligt, Frenkie De Jong, Wilfred Ndidi and Leon Bailey would be perfect signings for Zidane to impose his attractive attacking style of football at Old Trafford.

Hey Dave, every time you do one of these hypothetical videos I feel like you're eager to take the easy way out and slot in "bought" players, meanwhile I'd love to see what a manager would do with what we currently have in our first team(not just starting XI). I'm a long time Herrera fan in particular, and more often than not he seems shafted in your scenarios. Also what players would find themselves surplus to requirements under that manager, how he would adapt his strategy to injuries for key players, those sort of things.
I hope a Jardim video is in the works, I def feel more excited about getting Poche or him, or anyone willing to work with a long term plan and philosophy. Cheers!

Not at all, the biggest rumor is De Jong to PSG, apart from that there is nothing even close to certain yet.

He used various formations at Madrid and in his last season he used a 4-3-1-2 formation sacrificing wide players for two strikers. If he uses this formation it could be great. He could even play Sanchez as one of the strikers or CAM. He played Bale sometimes in CAM or strike. It would be interesting to see if he comes. Pogba will be great under a fellow Frenchman. We will see youth players getting into the squad. Someone like Fosu Mensah who should play DM then RB. Gomez as well.

Lukaku is still a top striker. At Everton he was a beast and when we signed him he looked unstoppable then that bad spell in December killed his confidence along with others. 2018 was the worst for our attacking players. Lukaku looked lost sometimes playing more deep or wide instead of being in the box. He's a poacher striker and Jose asked him too much to run up the pitch and he's not great at controlling the ball. At Everton Lukaku just stayed in the box looking for crosses and through balls. Leighton Baines made him look like god

Have you ever watched Ndombele play? He isn't a holding midfielder. Ndidi is good enough for Man Utd. He needs to work on his passing a bit, but that will naturally improve at Man United. Young, has played in the PL, probably won't cost insane amounts, makes sense.

Why frank De Jong when we have Andreas who is capable of dribbling past players, controlling the tempo, and whipping crosses in? He needs a chance to prove himself.
Why a young winger in Bailey when we have Mason Greenwood coming through the ranks.
If we are going to use a self-less false 9 in the Benzema role, Alexis can do that job until Mason is ready.
I'm not opposed to a new CDM, but Herrera or Fred's energy could be vital to replicating that Casemiro role despite their average passing ability.

if you know anything about Zidane and his time at Madrid, he isn't a manger who's going to put a team out in the same formation every match, he will do whatever he thinks needs to be done for that match, and make whatever lineup change he deems necessary.
People who don't follow Madrid questioned his tactical ability, odd considering he was one of the most technical players to ever play the game.... His tactics, formations and team selection were consistently spot on, sometimes even picking a team selection that would have people talking pre-match, but it would always work in the end. His substitutes always spot on

They’re both young and can be as good. Luke Shaw definitely can be a world class LB and early signs of Dalot he can be a world class RWB.
