5pm is morning for those who work 3rd shift/overnight. Not unusual to want coffee or cappuccino at that time or later. I'm sure there must of been workers of these shifts in ancient Rome as well.
Well, I'm Italian and I never had a cappuccino in the morning, as I prefer having breakfast at home. So it was either in the afternoon or at lunchtime if for some reason I couldn't have a proper meal, and always with a croissant. I never had anyone tell me it was weird or they wouldn't recommend it. I'm doing some bereavement therapy with a counsellor from a hospice where my sister stayed for a few weeks until she came home to die. I was recommended and am currently making a 'memory box' for Clare. It is painted in turquoise, her favourite colour, and will have her picture on the lid. Also, bits of brocade trim around the box. I've got some things in it that illustrate parts of her life and interests like some of her hair, tied up in blue ribbon, some jewellery, a sea shell, her memoriam cards and a few other things. It helps the grieving process I've found, and you can personalise them. Perhaps you could make one for your Mam. Just a suggestion. Thanks for your videos. 😊
I love Metatron's history-focused topics but these topics also get far less views than his videos on the controversial and more emotions-inducing socio-political topics (probably because controversy attracts more views). We need to support Metatron's historical videos with more likes and engagements.
actually, this is something i remember from my History textbook at school, when i was a kid. the book said that the knights took an hour to don their armor, and it weighed more than 30 kilograms. i remember this distinctly, because it shocked me , even as early as 13 years of age, lol. so.... ummm...
I remember realizing in retrospect that most of the history textbooks at school are less about education and more about indoctrination or modern politics. Just as an example, they taught that socialism was a mix of capitalism and communism when it is pretty much just the latter with a few minor changes. My mother was a teacher in an inner-city school (read poor neighborhood) and had to fight a long time to get the school to use age appropriate books (ie ones which would challenge the students) instead of simpler books which were written by "famous" modern writers/activists.
I wonder where the 1 hour to put armor on come from. I remember seeing in a museum exhibit information about blacksmith FITTING new armor for a knight taking an hour or more. It the first fit, so first adjustment of the straps, maybe a little hammering to adjust properly and maybe an hinge or two not quite perfectly correct.
I wouldn't be surprised if it started from some guy in a position of authority to speak on the topic, ie a history professor or an archeologist, who took an hour to put on the first time without knowing what they were doing and trying it without help, and then never decided that they might have made a mistake. There was a video I remember a few years ago when Skallgrim was sent a bronze kopesh to test and the guy who made it said it was probably the best test of one ever done.....because the only people who "test" them are academics who have never learned how to use a weapon or improvised tool.
I played that game a lot, too. Tournaments in the game could be won easily just counting the number of buttons you had to press: it was something like "one button down and three left" and you always hit the center, lol. DEFENDER OF THE CROWN!!! What a nostalgia trip! I wore that game out back in the day. My favorite character was Wolfric the Wild, because you could just win all of the territories in tournaments. Thanks for bringing up those memories.
The idea of a knight being "bolted" to his horse is comical. Was his horse metal? I suppose the writer meant to imply "secured" in the saddle. How this was "cheating" is anyone's guess. In the case of the urine myth; I have read that cow's urine was used to bleach linen and woolen textiles. How this turned into teeth-bleaching in the minds of modern internet "scholars" remains a mystery.

Back in the 80s, when I lived in West Germany, no Italian cafe we ever stopped at refused to make a cappuccino for my mom. They never even seemed to hesitate. And yes, the staff were usually Italians who lived in and spoke German.
Ya know, I kinda wonder how many "look at this outlandish thing these people do/did" claims are just things that have been made up to make those people look bad and how many are something that did happen but only involved a very limited group of people or one or just a few individuals
Once I went to a ren fair and they didn't send anybody to the armory to help one of the guys suit up for the joust, so I helped him. With ZERO previous experience, just him telling me what to do, it took five minutes tops to get him suited up.
The first point about the armour cracked me up. Reminded of when RuPaul was asked how long it took to get into the full drag get up. He replied, "about three hours, but we could do it in 30 minutes." In essence, it takes as long as you want it to take.
I helped a knight get into his armor and it took about 20 minutes and I'd never helped anyone with armor and the suit was brand new so he didn't even know how it worked. 10 of the twenty minutes was trying to fix a spot it was pinching Also in some parts of the Western US we drink iced Americano. Very affordable and calorie conscious , as many shots of espresso as you like in a cup full of ice. We've been making ice since 1853 apparently so it's as American as apple pie
The widespread belief that vomiting to eat more is, at least in part, based on the incorrect belief that a vomitorium.was a special room just for literally vomiting. It actually refers to (I know I don't need to tell Metatron this) a passage in a stadium that allows crowds to exit quickly. The stadium is 'vomiting' out people, if you will.
This is what I’ve been saying in comments for a while on this channel. He’s wasting his time with silly internet beef. I’d much rather see videos about ancient text translations and stuff.
It is easy content that is in good fun for the most part; and compared with those translation/historical deep dives super cheap to produce. With how much that has been going in his life taking it a bit easy is more than understandable.
I see it less as "internet beef" and more as correcting misinformation in a humorous way. (It makes ME laugh, anyway.) I love the deep dives and serious topics but i appreciate the lighter side of metatron, too.
Only thing i can recall about putting on or taking off armor taking anywhere remotely that kind of time, is in writings about when an armorer is fitting someone from zero, ie having to find suitable pieces for each part. And getting armor off when it's become severely dented, which could take unpleasantly much time if you got unlucky. I don't think i've ever heard of anyone testing it ever breaking 10 minutes, and the only one that came close was with one of those excessively complex o-yoroi variants that has multiple layers, each with what feels like a million straps. (They're the variant that which, once put on, is amazingly comfortable to wear, exactly because it has so many straps that allows absolute customisation of how it fits the wearer.) And these are modern people who mostly are not very skilled or experienced at doing this.
I just took a Greek class with a girl who kept telling this same story about her time in Italy where they refused to make her a mocha after noon lol This made me feel so validated in feeling like she was exaggerating A LOT!!
I mean if you walk into an Italian place and try to order like its a Starbucks they will probably look at you horrified and ask you to leave. Just order coffee or espresso. Thats it. Cant go wrong with those.

“I love the Ice Age” that just cracked me up!!! 😂😂😂
You're right, I am near noble.
Prior to advances in metallurgy allowing bolts, they would rivet the knight onto the horse.
I actually laughed about 12 times... I surely needed it.
Bless you, Brother Raph {Raf?} and for the more personal issues- you are being prayed for...
I'm disappointed we didn't have a transition to an actual cafe. XD
I have to admit I love the "roasting" vids Metatron if only for the fact that you speak vicariously for many of us.😁
Hey Metatron, you should do a Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 trailer review!!
I'm in a hospital due to a minor surgery, and watching your video is one of the few things witch cheers me up, so ty from the bottom of my heart!
2:16 Sluggish time on that pit stop chief. That could've cost us the race.
That titanic drawing moment killed me 😂 I was not ready 😂
please everyone ignore the symbol on the soda cup at 4:34, they are NOT sponsoring pretend its an M for Medieval :D
We use to call it the restaurant "To The Golden Seagull".
@@DoloresLehmann as a profesional seagull drawer for over 20 years that is indeed a good description for those golden seagulls, remember fellas real seagulls are lines, those weird 3d creatures with organs are actually spy birds and not real seagulls
The vomiting bit is something we even learned about in history class as if it was a common thing.
The shits and giggles in this was epic. I needed a good laugh, thanks ;)
The next thing Metatron's going to tell us is that Italian queen Maria Antoinetta did not say, "Let them barf cake."
I mean this a little tongue-in-cheek (or cake-in-cheek, as it were).
We need more of this, the people demand it with their comments :^)
:^)
Dear Metatron, it is so fun to see your elevated rants!... I really laughed when I pictured you eating your Peruvian (terra incognita) tuberculum Gaul style broiled while waiting for the tilt! :)
Guys... i think he needs to stop...
i see tears in his eyes. why he reacts to those none important videos anyway...i think he needs some time apart from youtube and give him some time to grief for his passed away loved ones... i prefer a healthy Metatron with less content over a Metatron who just make content for the sake of content...(you see English is not my first language) To Metatron: Care for yourself and only for yourself. we understand...
No
Oh how could you tell?
I have been avoiding drama on TH-cam and stopped using fb and Instagram over the last years. Personal peace is amazing, and the majority of people are complete 1d1ots.
Yes he needs a break or change his way of working somehow. It breaks you at some point
Hmmm....so, I take it that it's not true that Legionaries sometimes took an hour to put on their Lorica Segmentata? **Ducking real fast** LOL
The Metatron is the most noble of all Noble Ones!!!! He claps historical and ignorant cheeks on the daily just for the benefit of all mankind!!!! This is your king!!!! This is your king!!!!!
My word. You went for the ‘cheek-clapping’ route. 💀
"they wear marmelade on Wodensday, silly buggers!"
Burger King was a historical ruler during the 100 years war
Pit Crew. That's what the people in the Pit Stop are called.
Once I went to a ren fair and they didn't send anybody to the armory to help one of the guys suit up for the joust, so I helped him. With ZERO previous experience, just him telling me what to do, it took five minutes tops to get him suited up.
Here you go, a like and a comment
"It's a myth that is based" - Metatron 2024
The first point about the armour cracked me up. Reminded of when RuPaul was asked how long it took to get into the full drag get up. He replied, "about three hours, but we could do it in 30 minutes." In essence, it takes as long as you want it to take.
👌
I appreciated the idea of gaming in the middle of it. Sometimes it's nice to not rush 😊
This is me hanging up my shirts haha.
So a Knight's Squires were actually his pit crew? Ok 😊 .I learn so much here.
You shouldn't eat McDonalds Metatron.
Lol why
Don't eat McDonald's.
Challenge them to a duel instead
I helped a knight get into his armor and it took about 20 minutes and I'd never helped anyone with armor and the suit was brand new so he didn't even know how it worked. 10 of the twenty minutes was trying to fix a spot it was pinching
Also in some parts of the Western US we drink iced Americano. Very affordable and calorie conscious , as many shots of espresso as you like in a cup full of ice. We've been making ice since 1853 apparently so it's as American as apple pie
Metatron is our therapy…
The widespread belief that vomiting to eat more is, at least in part, based on the incorrect belief that a vomitorium.was a special room just for literally vomiting. It actually refers to (I know I don't need to tell Metatron this) a passage in a stadium that allows crowds to exit quickly. The stadium is 'vomiting' out people, if you will.
Defender of the Crown. Classic.
One of the first ever Amiga 500 games I played. The other early ones being Dungeon Master and SuperStar Ice Hockey.
I’m sorry for your pain but this series is my favorite. Thank god for bad info, Italians, tempers, and talking with your hands.
This is what I’ve been saying in comments for a while on this channel. He’s wasting his time with silly internet beef. I’d much rather see videos about ancient text translations and stuff.
Hopefully he'll get back to that soon.
It is easy content that is in good fun for the most part; and compared with those translation/historical deep dives super cheap to produce. With how much that has been going in his life taking it a bit easy is more than understandable.
Why no both?
I see it less as "internet beef" and more as correcting misinformation in a humorous way. (It makes ME laugh, anyway.) I love the deep dives and serious topics but i appreciate the lighter side of metatron, too.
I’m glad to see you making a video in the way my head reacts when people tell me history facts similar if not the same to what’s in these articles
Please Metatron, I beg you reconsider using this sponsor. Just look up their numerous scandals. It's not worth your integrity.
He said in a previous video that he only promotes sponsors who he's researched and trusts. This is absolutely ridiculous.
(They're the variant that which, once put on, is amazingly comfortable to wear, exactly because it has so many straps that allows absolute customisation of how it fits the wearer.)
And these are modern people who mostly are not very skilled or experienced at doing this.
@@TheSuperappelflap I mean she definitely seemed like the type to do that. And not understand why lol I think she said something about not knowing much Italian when she went, which I know is a problem if you go to France and speak bad French, I assume it would be similar in Italy. She said as long as you try in Greece their happy. I've only been to France so I don't know how everywhere else is other than anecdotes :(
@@penguinabroad oh my french is pretty decent but they will still hate you just for not being French
Defender of the crown??!!! Boy that brings back memories...
Haha jokes on you, I’m in therapy
Jokes on you I self medicate lol
Absolutely hilarious.....thanks for the laugh!
FOR KING AND COUNTRY 😂
I only stopped watching your channel for three weeks and for some reason everything fell apart and weird things happened.
What happened
Still I love your videos and can you make a video about your ibm computer or retro video game collection.😊😊😊😊
You want him to do a new series? The Angry Italian Gamer (AIG)? Italian throwback to classic AVGN?
@@Seriously_Unserious hahaha So not as angry like the angry video game Nerd, but yeah.
His mother passed away... Maybe that's the difference?
@@diesegeties8918 No, not angry like a Nerd, but like an Italian, and not any Italian, but a Sicilian. Maybe his brand would be Angry Video Game Mafia.
