I adore this Concerto. Fantastic. Expresses to much. It's serious but the last movement is rousing, exciting fun ! What a diamond is this PC !

He almost looked like he was smiling in the photo which is wild for the 19th century. The concerto is pleasant.

This is actually a fabulous concerto. The exquisite piano music integrated with such mind-altering symphonic music, helps to transcend to a different dimension and leave the planet for a while and discover moments of peace and tranquility. I write science fiction novels and classical music is a key component of my creativity. This piece gave me rocket fuel this morning. Thank you.

I've recently been listening to a lot of these compositions by composers I've never heard of. Many of them are impressive but forgettable. This composer is one of the best in my opinion. He is a delight to listen to and I've returned to his pieces several times. If I was still buying CDs I'd look for him, but it's great to have them here to play again and again. Very highly recommended.

Vraiment !!

I have already posted my review on this composer, see my review about his Symphony 1, That includes all his four symphonies, I have such a high regard and respect for Friedrich Gensheim, he is a true genius, The larghetto here is one of the beautiful piece ever written that goes deep to the soul. Commenting another piece of Gernsheim, piano trio, I wrote something I'd confirm here too. It's quite evident Brahms influence (possibly reciprocal, most probably both drinking at springs of same German great traditions).
However Gernsheim shows smoother open song fluidity vs Brahms, lesser black & white contrast vs Brahms, possibly due to his vicinity to French classicism and romanticism traditions
The outcome of such "shaking" is absolutely delightful and hearth opening and I'd say create a very personalized and recognizable unique style.
The third movement is the most Brahmsian (its start reminds me the finale of 1st concerto of Brahms) although with bit of Mendelssohn gaiety
Beautiful concerto and thank you for posting. Even Spotify ignored it....

Don't forget that Gernsheim wrote his first three symphonies in Rotterdam. Hardly the center of the European musical world, but a place with a connection to both Belgium and France.

very easy on the ears, beautifully lyrical, the music "sings" from the first note to the last

Schönes Konzert. Einwenig Stil zwischen Beethowen und Rheinberger.

The final movement reminds me of Schumann; ironically, it specifically reminds me of the first and third movement of Schumann's famous Piano Concerto in A Minor.
