Holy cow…the quad lock on the remote?!? Genius. I always bunged it to the tank bag and it just never felt secure and it was too low to see. This is a game-changer!!! Thanks for the vid and keep up the good work.
One thing I learnt from experience. Change the settings from Return To Home to Hover in Place. I filmed myself from a static shot with the controller on the handlebars but went out of range finding a place to turn around. Maybe more of a problem here in the EU because of the remote control connection system. I know that the US system has far more range so maybe in other countries too.
How does this go in tree covered areas? Ie under a canopy? Considering getting one for enduro shots, bit worried about losing gps signal.. awesome vid mate, thorough as usual 👌🤟
I´m afraid the drone for bikers is the Skydio2. I had some dji´s and really works very bad in auto-drive (follow) mode. Skydio2 is other level with IA and follow modes, check videos. But we cannot buy in Europe.
I’ve seen them and I think their tracking is great! I was eyeing one off for a while and the only reason why I didn’t get one was because of its size and weight, but mainly it’s size. Top looking drone though!

You can carry a dji mini that it´s unusuable as autonomous, or a skydio2, more difficult to carry but usuable and with a very good autonomous fly. To me, no sense carry some small and portable, that doesn´t work, it´s simple. Even motorcycle, bicycle or you want, skydio2 is a cameraman to record to you in all places, all that people with these needs want (motorcycle, atv, bicycle, running...), a dji mini is a typical drone you drive to get footage it´s yet recorded, but autonomous fly following in all perspectives, is absolutely new. But it´s my opinion, I had from starting DJI a lot of them, and only would like to buy a Skydio2. DJI follow me are an absolutely joke, you lost more time prepareing and stopping that recording. I don´t understand as DJI isn´t able to goes to IA and follow me systems as Skydio2, even it´s 2-3 years old¡¡

@@PabloOfRivers I think that the Mavic 3 Classic is now the drone to get. It's what I am looking to get. It has omni-directional obstacle avoidance and is MUCH cheaper than the Skydio 2. If I had the money, I'd get the Skydio 2, but the cost is too much versus the Mavic 3 Classic.

I've had the Mini 2 for over a year now but this is a massive improvement. It's def a lot easier if someone else is filming you with it. I've yet to try out any kind of tracking with mine. The mini 2 doesn't have built-in tracking but if you set it to elipse, you can hack the features as it won't be able to get around you due to your speed so you can, (in theory) use it this way. I've yet to try this.

FYI, if you put an SD card in the remote, you can swipe down twice to the remote's android menu and hit "record" and get a perfect screen capture of the remote for situations like this

Great drone!The follow me function is ok & I'm still trying to improve the functionality of it but it seems to have the capacity to follow up to about 35kmh, which is fine, but I was hoping for a bit more speed. I've learnt a lot from it & will probably keep it but I'm considering the DJI Air 3 now, which seems to offer a lot more, but obviously is a slightly bigger drone. I was impressed with the Skydio but size/availability put me off - I do love the beacon tracking though, wish DJI would offer similar. Cheers.

As a working professional photographer/videographer I've had 6 different DJI drones over the years. Controversial opinion but it's my belief that the Mini 3 is their best yet. Unless you were shooting really pro stuff, the Mini 3's convenience combined with it's capabilities is the sweetest spot possible. Mini 2 was good but the quality just wasn't quite there. I can fit this in my kit that has my mirrorless cam, a flash and another lens all in a small-ish backpack so it's super portable but still get perfectly good looking footage and photos when I want to use my bike. Tips: a CPL filter (the Freewell CPL is

What does it do when it loses you during tracking? Does it just stop where it is in the air and stay put? I can see myself getting carried away with speed and riding off without it for awhile.
Just got an Action 3, having same audio issues with gain levels, very interested to see if you can solve it. It's not the mic I'm using (Purple Panda) as I've used that successfully with my Insta360 One RS and GoPro Hero 7. Thought it was the 3.5mm to USB C converter so was going to try a dedicated USB C lav mic but now I'm thinking it may be the camera itself...
Having used the Insta 360, I doubt I will ever spend money on a device that asks me to decide my video orientation (landscape/ portrait) before I make the shot. Those days are done for me.
I’m sold on the 3 pro for sure. Optical flow at 30fps looks pretty whack though, I wouldn’t be recommending that. You can see all the artefacts in the shots you’ve used it on. Great review Rob!
Thanks for the video and tips. I stumbled across this video because I have similar interest to what you mentioned (filming myself driving solo). I don't ride motorcycle but drive a convertible car. I like filming myself driving using my mini 1 and being able to POI or active_track myself is my dream. So in near future will definitely upgrade to mini_3_Pro. I recommend giving 360cam a go in place of GoPro. I recently acquired a X3 and filming driving with friends driving with me is so cool. I can reframe my video in different ways for different perspective. Really cool. Oh as for using my mini_1, while I can't track myself to film motion shot, I do love parking my car at a cool spot and film the aerial views. Sydney (AUS) is just beautiful I have (amateur) videos to share if you are interested. Haha I am no pro. Just love documenting my driving memories so I can reminisce in the future.
@@csabapapp8481 Another one to consider may even be the Autel Evo2 Pro V3! It may not track as well as the Skydio2+ but it’s probably good enough for moto logging and has a lot more to offer above that! Can you tell that I’m now leaning that way 😁
Thanks for your work! Based on youtube videos, the Skydio2 Plus does way better active tracking than any DJI drone. So I think that drone is for bikers. Do you have any experience with it? I still didn't made up my mind with what to replace my old Air with 2 dying batteries. The Skydio costs more and is a bit tricky to get it in Europe, but the way it flies is incredible. Maybe I'll just have a Mini 3 pro for the summer.
The skydio has a better follow but the shots are not cinematic at all… it moves too fast, it’s not centered… in terms of cinematography, the skydio is not good. And if you want to fly the drone manually, the mini 3 is way better in every aspects (modes, photo and video quality…)
@@tylersurfer I like the dynamic moves of the skydio. It can track closer, fly faster and some shots look like some human pilot controlled footage. For me the mini 3 tracking videos are boring and slow. But in a perfect world, I'd have both. :)

Great info mate. I have also found through my tests with Active Track that the drone finds it easier to track you with brighter clothing on plus have it follow you closer. This will help it a lot. Not that bright clothing looks good on a bike! I have an active track test on some MTB single trails and it’s performance was amazing. Check it out.
Good advice about saving yourself instead of the drone while driving. I almost hit a car while driving and trying to save mi drone looking at the screen.

Unfortunately you can’t get skydio in Australia unless you go fully commercial licence and then pay ongoing subscription

Just picked up my mini 3 pro yesterday - haven’t even flown before - this is timely.
Should’ve put it in Sport mode. Obstacle avoidance still works.
Just seen you issue with the gain on the OSMO - have you tried an attenuator cable?
Seen another rider, use a DJI mic receiver connected with his lav in his helmet. He was able to lower the gain to -12db. Sound quality was fire.

It's just their universal adaptor the has 3M tape on the back. Just stick it on the back of your controller 🤘

What are your thoughts on the Mini3 Pro vs the Skydio2+ for motovlogging? Have to replace my old drone soon, so any input is appreciated.

I still didn't made up my mind with what to replace my old Air with 2 dying batteries. The Skydio costs more and is a bit tricky to get it in Europe, but the way it flies is incredible. Maybe I'll just have a Mini 3 pro for the summer.
The skydio has a better follow but the shots are not cinematic at all… it moves too fast, it’s not centered… in terms of cinematography, the skydio is not good. And if you want to fly the drone manually, the mini 3 is way better in every aspects (modes, photo and video quality…)
@@tylersurfer I like the dynamic moves of the skydio. It can track closer, fly faster and some shots look like some human pilot controlled footage. For me the mini 3 tracking videos are boring and slow. But in a perfect world, I'd have both. :)

I beg you ! Please May I ask what quadlock part I need to glue to the back of my controller ? I’ve ploughed through their website … but can only see “phone cases” that attach to the various bar mounts!!

Great info mate. I have also found through my tests with Active Track that the drone finds it easier to track you with brighter clothing on plus have it follow you closer. This will help it a lot. Not that bright clothing looks good on a bike!

Unfortunately, in Europe it is not legally possible to fly a drone and ride a motorcycle at the same time.
vlos is one of the basics of every drone legislation practically everywhere, not just eu.

Good advice about saving yourself instead of the drone while driving. I almost hit a car while driving and trying to save mi drone looking at the screen.

Are those wiggly props that sturdy to throw it in the bag without a protective casing doing casual trips? (i always use the casing for my Mavic Air while travelling)
