The Secret:
Play a Civ that does not care about settling in specific places. Maya for example who do not care about fresh water at all.
Or a Civ that does well in Desert, because Ley Lines spawn mostly there as of the change in their spawn behaviour.
Germany double dips because for the Hansa, the Leyline is both the +2 adjacency AND a ressource for a further Adjacency.
Japan. Settle on a Leyline and your BASE ADJACENCY IS +3 FOR ANYTHING NEXT TO THE CITY! +4 Harbour with single fishing boat ressource. +5 Commercial District in a Triangle on a River.
Same for Holy Sites and Campus Districts with Mountains.

How do you get the river and mountain names on the map? I play vanilla and they’re not on there. I have all the DLC and I’m completely new to Civ, so do I need to activate certain game modes to get it?
It's an in-game option. Check the tool buttons by the mini-map. One of them has a list of tick boxes to select what is visible on the map.
