(Boosted stealth had no load deck, no caliber trucks or no orangatang wheels. It was overall worse board than boosted v2)

I never thought I'd see this. I'm now afraid to ride my board due to the fact of it breaking. I think boosted was foolish for never releasing better priced products or lowering their prices on current products. The competition was constantly releasing lower priced products with better stats. Considering most people buying these are saving up for them, they are gonna go with a better spec'd board at 1/3 of the price. With a fast growing and always changing market, boosted needed to come out with more products, at a better price (or lower pricing). I love my boosted to death, but the specs just aren't there to justify the prices. The performance is lovely and it's smooth, honestly one of the best boards, but for the money..... Idk. For $500 you can get a board that's nearly as smooth, with double the range, and higher top speed. I guess the customer service doesn't matter at this point when they are out of business....

I live in Italy, I still remember when I saw the boosted board for the first time ... it was love at first sight. I still remember the email sent to me by the assistance, saying that I was the eleventh customer in Italy (I was very proud). Today I learned of the closure of the Boosted, I am experiencing a kind of personal mourning, I believed that they would have been a point of reference for years .... I hope that one day they will be able to return to the market stronger than before. Thanks Boosted folks you are the best!
When I worked in SF their office was right next door. One day a bunch of guys invited me out and we went on a ride on the Embarcadero. So many kind people worked there and they were so cool about showing me around and showing me a good time. Love you boosted
Their back in stock on the website! Also it looks like the last shipment of the REV is also coming in at the end of May. So if you all want to help boosted stay alive I’d probably go out and buy some. It may be the last chance you can get one new at retail price
I didn’t ride a boosted board (mainly for legal reasons in my country) but I believed in what they stood for and I’m fully aware that without them I probably would have never even considered, bought and used an eskate as my main transportation for commuting for the last two years. It’s a really sad day
Due to some health complications it took me a while to get my license (without going to deep) and I have it now at 19, but until then, my stealth was my literal daily driver in STL to and from work and pretty much anywhere I wanted to go without a ride, and it worked flawlessly. R.I.P. Boosted :(
Wow, I’m shocked. I just bought a boosted board about a week ago. Been wanting one for a very long time. So thankful to be able to ride this board. Will ride it until it breaks, I love this company.
When I bought my Mini-X last year, I'd go back and forth being happy about the purchase and then thinking that I couldn't really afford it and berate myself for being irresponsible. NOW!! I'm so frickin' glad I have it. I haven't been able to ride it as much as I wanted because of a health issue, but now I'm much better and my board is still like brand new. Thank God I bought this slice of heaven. It's LITERALLY a slice of heaven. Someone would be smart to pick up where this CEO let the ball drop. I also think it was the Scooter. Whenever I ride in NYC, I rarely see the Boosted Scooters but I see plenty of Boards. I hope they get back on their feet somehow, I'm more optimistic that they will.
I know it’s 5 months later, but is boosted still doing ok? I noticed the stealth and mini x are still available and right now I’m wondering if I should keep saving for a mini x or just look for another board. And if so I don’t know where to start, anyone have any suggestions?
i agree with everyone. it’s sad to see it go. i was saving up for one... if it were cheaper i would have already got one. i think the story is much the same with most people interested in boosted
wow. who knew a piece of tech would be such a big part of my life. Followed you and casey through your boosted journies and saved up enough money to get a v2 myself from becoming jealous of the fun you guys were having. I waited a good 9 months for that to come from the pre-order crap but when i got it, it was a dream. Eventually i got older and had to sell it for my car. it was fun while it lasted, hopefully i can work and buy a used one before they all go to waste.
I got an Inboard M1 after your video and the same thing happened to them. That thing has been my favorite purchase of all time. So sad to see these companies not flourishing.
I would say being to travel around New York in genral without having to give up 6 bucks to MTA is a breath of fresh air. I rode my bike from the Soundveiw section of the bronx to this park on the lower east side by The Williamsburg bridge last Summer.
I know you believe the price point was good, but I only didn't buy one because the price was out of my range and I doubt I am alone. Also, as a former small business owner (my doors closed 6 weeks ago), I know how important it is to support small business they really need the help. Thanks for posting this RIB BB
As a lot of other people also mentioned the Boosted was, while being advanced, still too pricey. The DIY and KIT boards you can get for a fration of the cost can definitley compete or outperform Boosteds, are easy to repair and simple to customise. Still a lot of them will survive and probably get VESC swapped and upgraded in any imaginable way there ist - at least I hope so.
This fucking KILLS me. I've been with Boosted since the V1 as well (and have accumulated many scars over the years to show for it, hah), and it's completely changed the dynamic of getting around in daily life. On my board, nothing is a drag, I can't live without it. I've got a bunch of friends that ride Chinese boards, and I've found none of them are competition to Boosted, so I'll probably be sourcing the internet for parts if anything ever breaks on mine. 5k+ miles club, lets keep it going 🙋♂️
I own a Boosted Plus & the Rev Scooter. This news saddens me because I loved their products & what they did to bring back the thrill of riding outdoors. I'm 53 & LOVE my longboard & scooter. I reside in San Francisco & my Boosted EV's are my mode of transport. I'm hoping they find a buyer that keeps the brand & product line from fading into history.
Evolve now seems like the only high end quality option with belt driven street wheels plus they adapted quickly to legislation for example here in France and their support is very responsive. If their price could look a little more like what they are in Australia and NZ they would overtake a good part of the market I think.
There’s a very good chance you’re right, but companies restructure all the time. GoPro’s a good example of that. Calling it done and over before the company has declared bankruptcy or had a chance to restructure certainly doesn’t help them.
Really sad to hear. Pretty insane that you can't even buy them anymore. But worst part is that unless they get bought, I can't get my board repaired if anything goes wrong and it turns into a dead weight. I was considering moving on to buying a Onewheel Pint, unless future motion is going to suffer the same fate...
GoSpringboksGo From a range and customer service standpoint, yeah, Evolve. Other than that there’s Lacroix, Kaly NYC, Exway, Backfire, Wowgo, Meepo, Ownboard, Slick Revolution, Trampa, OneWheel, to name just a few, and lots of sellers of DIY parts so you can make your own.
My battery just stopped working and I emailed them. They replied saying they would send me a package label so they can fix it. I was wondering why they won’t reply. This sucks considering I spend $1,500 on my boosted board. Very upsetting
Inboard also went out of business. I paid $1200 for an M1 with extra batteries. Now I can’t replace the batteries. What a waste. Maybe this will at least boost (no pun intended) other competitors so we still have quality options. Thinking about Evolve etc.
The letter says “The Boosted brand will continue to pursue strategic options under new ownership.” So, maybe they are undergoing some big business changes or attempting to reset out of country? Nevertheless, big changes and no sales available for now. I wonder how many other businesses the tariffs are having this affect on?
Wow that's so sad to see Boosted going out of business. My first and only boosted board was the Boosted Mini S. Broke my wrist on it and had to sell it...but damn I still wanted to get another one day down the track.
One of the largest problem with boosted is how they were unable to adapt to the competition. A company like meepo can sell a board for for 1/4 the price that is extremely similar. They didn't have a monopoly anymore, and didn't drop the prices
Dang. This is shocking. Not having looked into Boosted in a couple years, I would have expected them to downsize first before closing. The boards still seem very popular.

Today I learned of the closure of the Boosted, I am experiencing a kind of personal mourning, I believed that they would have been a point of reference for years .... I hope that one day they will be able to return to the market stronger than before. Thanks Boosted folks you are the best!
RIP the goat
When I worked in SF their office was right next door. One day a bunch of guys invited me out and we went on a ride on the Embarcadero. So many kind people worked there and they were so cool about showing me around and showing me a good time. Love you boosted
Their back in stock on the website! Also it looks like the last shipment of the REV is also coming in at the end of May. So if you all want to help boosted stay alive I’d probably go out and buy some. It may be the last chance you can get one new at retail price
Hate them or love them, this company was the darling of the electric skateboard industry.... who do we go to now?
china
I didn’t ride a boosted board (mainly for legal reasons in my country) but I believed in what they stood for and I’m fully aware that without them I probably would have never even considered, bought and used an eskate as my main transportation for commuting for the last two years. It’s a really sad day
😔
Due to some health complications it took me a while to get my license (without going to deep) and I have it now at 19, but until then, my stealth was my literal daily driver in STL to and from work and pretty much anywhere I wanted to go without a ride, and it worked flawlessly. R.I.P. Boosted :(
Tesla (Elon) purchasing Boosted for fun
Are they back?
Their website shows a bunch of stuff in stock
They’re not the same company. Their FAQ even says so and they basically say products bought before aren’t covered under warranty.
Wait..what 🥺. I luv my stealth even more now.
Wow, I’m shocked. I just bought a boosted board about a week ago. Been wanting one for a very long time. So thankful to be able to ride this board. Will ride it until it breaks, I love this company.
Sam with the breaking news!!! RIP!!!
I totally hear you on not needing a subway card after buying a boosted board. I would ride it everywhere!
They are still in buisness. Trust me. Downsizing is natural.
This isn't downsizing
Thanks for the update Sam ☹️
I know it’s 5 months later, but is boosted still doing ok? I noticed the stealth and mini x are still available and right now I’m wondering if I should keep saving for a mini x or just look for another board. And if so I don’t know where to start, anyone have any suggestions?
Sam Sheffer might be young Rene Ritchie
hehe
Should I buy one right now.. I’m actually learning to ride a skateboard just to buy a boosted....
That’s kinda sad😥
Boosted was my first electric skateboard, all that raw power at the palm of my hand. I never regretted choosing boosted to be my first.
Let's get Elon Musk to buy Boosted!!
i agree with everyone. it’s sad to see it go. i was saving up for one... if it were cheaper i would have already got one. i think the story is much the same with most people interested in boosted
Tariffs so that consumers will choose american products over Chinese,
Result: American companies going out of business.
where are those jobs at now trump?
wow. who knew a piece of tech would be such a big part of my life.
I wish they could bring the manufacturing line back to the US.
Great coverage Sam. It's sad to see such a giant fall. Please keep us updated on how you fare as a regular user with maintenance, support, etc.
Sam, you were the reason I got mine. I still remember the well done videos you did for the Verge at CES or the hoverboard one. So thank you!
Well dealer margin before freight is 25-30 percent depending on volume.
well this is really sad. i never even got to ride one.
Overpriced, overhyped and got consistant free advertising from casey and still went out of buisness smh
I don't have 1500 bucks to spare. I would totally buy one but I'm saving up for a truck
So, what alternatives are left now? Evolve Skateboards?
GoSpringboksGo Exway
GoSpringboksGo From a range and customer service standpoint, yeah, Evolve. Other than that there’s Lacroix, Kaly NYC, Exway, Backfire, Wowgo, Meepo, Ownboard, Slick Revolution, Trampa, OneWheel, to name just a few, and lots of sellers of DIY parts so you can make your own.
My battery just stopped working and I emailed them. They replied saying they would send me a package label so they can fix it. I was wondering why they won’t reply. This sucks considering I spend $1,500 on my boosted board. Very upsetting
I have a Boosted Rev on order. Should I wait and see if it arrives, or just cancel my order and get my money back?
I own a boosted mini x. Like what’s the best option for motor replacements. I’ve seen wheel replacements for sale but no motors
Thanks for sharing. Super sucks. I’ve rode close to 1000 on my Rev and just opened a support ticket.
