I've seen these scammers talk about their profession and they do things like make up wild claims or intentionally misspell words to make it obvious that it's a scam. And they know a vast majority of people are not gonna fall for it. And yet, they still make money off of it.
The Earth 2 "devs" have money. Money they scammed off unsuspecting idiots. Money they're now funneling off to a team of lawyers instead of actually hiring programmers who actually know what they're doing and care about both the end product and the users of that product, and buying everything else they'd need to run a game, all because the state of their laughable "game" is trash and built with stolen assets anyone could buy off the Unity store. i don't even know how you get that wrong. there is no media in most mmos. i know wow has twitter integration (which i don't think anyone uses) but most mmos don't have such a thing. it's obvious that it stands for multiplayer.
And the ones that supported pretty much are non-gamers since interactivity index is questioned with what can you do with the owned tiles besides trade with real world currency. Even as far as 18 years ago, Jagex's RuneScape has clear-cut line on the sand that trading digital goods for real currency is not tolerated and have worked ways to counter it in the past. RuneScape's membership subscription is more for expanded server access.

Remember: The reason why some people are ardently defending Earth 2 is mostly likely because there might be a lot of money on the line for them. It is in their direct financial interest that more and more players join the game and buy land there, because otherwise they'll make a loss when they pull out. So there's definitely a conflict of interests playing into this. That is not to say that some of them don't genuinely believe in the vision behind the project, but they also have a bunch of money riding on it.

For anyone thinking about "investing" in Earth 2, here's something to consider: Since you have no protections, the Earth 2 team could harvest all of this personal information, then when the project inevitably goes under, decide to sell all of the harvested information to the highest bidder(hackers, ad companies, etc). The kicker is, they'd get away with it.

I remember when one of Ssethtzeentach's videos had a joke in it that he found funny enough to get demonitized, but instead youtube blocked it in 211 countries And then demonitized it. Now suddenly a lot of youtubers are getting hit for talking about 9/11 or showing footage of the towers. Adum from YMS had a video from 6 years ago sniped and they didn't tell him why, only that it "violated their violent criminal organisation policy". When he asked where this happened, they replied with, essentially: "idk it just does" Turns put him saying "2001 was a great year where nothing bad happened" and showing the footage is "engaging in, encouraging or supporting violent criminal organisations" ...which in turn reminds me of the time Twitter suspended me for "inciting self harm and suicide" when i told someone to slap themselves...
Personally my favorite 'defense' of Earth 2 is 'I've never been scammed so I can't be scammed." You are exactly the kind of person who are perfect targets to get scammed, because you are so convinced you can't be scammed that you might not even realize that they just ran off with all your money, and even if you do, you wouldn't admit it to anyone. The only time I was scammed was in Diablo 2 trade back in the v1.09 patch days where you could just replace your item after confirming trade with no button cooldown. Haven't trusted anyone online since and haven't been scammed. That's not an indication of anything.

What is one large part of a lawsuit .. is the discovery phase. That is where both sides have to give all records related ( mails / conversions / text messages - any other type of message ). Which means pretty much any and all communications among people. This can show in some cases that the motivation for a law suit was malicious or vindictive and not about damages. ( see lenard French Video's - copyright lawyer channel for examples. ) People filing crappy lawsuits dont often realize what information you have to give to the defense.
I think something none of the TH-camrs have really touched on is that trailer (which is do-able in three days as per that bigfry challenge one of the supporters gave him). You have a zoom in from the globe to a meadow, coniferous forest area. Yes, it looks nice, the lighting is nice, the detailing is nice. It does NOT look amazing in 2021. It's just a bunch of cloned tree assets and grass on top of a textured terrain heightmap. It does not in any way demonstrate what they're trying to do. The whole thing looks completely doctored up to me.
There are bigger fish to fry here but it's a valid point. They probably have what I call "graphics numbness", where you have seen so many "pretty pixels" that you don't actually care. Because, SHOW ME THE GAMEPLAY.

These scam groups tend to have their community fight more for them than actually doing anything. All they have to do is keep stringing them along with false hope and they end up with a pretty solid defense. People also like being in that group because they feel like they belong, then they clamp down on it because they fear of not belonging any more. Its crazy to see so many sunk into to this and put a lot of money into it yet they will ignore the warning signs all around them just to be a part of something.
A mixture of hype and sunk cost fallacy is the cause. They are promising Ready Player One like gameplay, something way too many people want to believe will be a thing in their lifetime.

Considering these are defamation claims not dmca. While I’m not sure i don’t think they even have the full safe harbour protection here. Unless theres a law requiring they do what they do for defamation claims without a court order I don’t see what would protect them from a lawsuit. though that the lawsuit will regardless of winning or losing will never win a cent thats not legal fees is without question.
To add to the comments regarding Tanner joining the Australian Defence Force. Both my nephews joined in the last 12 months one of them joined the Navy, the other Army. The one who joined the Army did have his recruitment delayed. He had to finish high school first. Other than that they had no issues, the most the Covid did to them was confine them to their respective training bases for a few months.

Since they operate, at least in part, out of Australia you can report them to the ACCC (Australian Competition and Consumer Commission)

Remember: The reason why some people are ardently defending Earth 2 is mostly likely because there might be a lot of money on the line for them. It is in their direct financial interest that more and more players join the game and buy land there, because otherwise they'll make a loss when they pull out.
So there's definitely a conflict of interests playing into this.
That is not to say that some of them don't genuinely believe in the vision behind the project, but they also have a bunch of money riding on it.

As a former Ultima Online player, I am a bit disgusted by some guy acting like he knows about games while misidentifying what an MMO is.
For anyone thinking about "investing" in Earth 2, here's something to consider:
Since you have no protections, the Earth 2 team could harvest all of this personal information, then when the project inevitably goes under, decide to sell all of the harvested information to the highest bidder(hackers, ad companies, etc). The kicker is, they'd get away with it.
No, they won't, ToS mean shit on a big class action suit. I'm not saying I agree with those idiots that got sucked into the scheme, if you don't smell this from a mile away you kinda deserve to lose your college fund, I'm saying that even if ToS seems to cover all their collective asses, it won't in a face of a federal judge. Personally my favorite 'defense' of Earth 2 is 'I've never been scammed so I can't be scammed." You are exactly the kind of person who are perfect targets to get scammed, because you are so convinced you can't be scammed that you might not even realize that they just ran off with all your money, and even if you do, you wouldn't admit it to anyone. The only time I was scammed was in Diablo 2 trade back in the v1.09 patch days where you could just replace your item after confirming trade with no button cooldown. Haven't trusted anyone online since and haven't been scammed. That's not an indication of anything.

What is one large part of a lawsuit .. is the discovery phase. That is where both sides have to give all records related ( mails / conversions / text messages - any other type of message ). Which means pretty much any and all communications among people. This can show in some cases that the motivation for a law suit was malicious or vindictive and not about damages. ( see lenard French Video's - copyright lawyer channel for examples. ) People filing crappy lawsuits dont often realize what information you have to give to the defense.
I think something none of the TH-camrs have really touched on is that trailer (which is do-able in three days as per that bigfry challenge one of the supporters gave him). You have a zoom in from the globe to a meadow, coniferous forest area. Yes, it looks nice, the lighting is nice, the detailing is nice. It does NOT look amazing in 2021. It's just a bunch of cloned tree assets and grass on top of a textured terrain heightmap. It does not in any way demonstrate what they're trying to do. The whole thing looks completely doctored up to me.
There are bigger fish to fry here but it's a valid point.

These scam groups tend to have their community fight more for them than actually doing anything. All they have to do is keep stringing them along with false hope and they end up with a pretty solid defense. People also like being in that group because they feel like they belong, then they clamp down on it because they fear of not belonging any more. Its crazy to see so many sunk into to this and put a lot of money into it yet they will ignore the warning signs all around them just to be a part of something.

The one who joined the Army did have his recruitment delayed. He had to finish high school first.
