@@eloisou8485 (Canadian)-French speaker here. His accent is actually pretty good, but of course since he doesn't live in France nor has he lived in France for that long, he makes a lot of grammatical mistakes and he confuses the noun gender (which all non-native French speakers make, even those who are extremely fluent, like Jodie Foster). But if he has the opportunity to live in France in the future to brush up his French, I bet it can get pretty good. Acquring that accent is not an easy feat, and he has managed to do that pretty well compared to the majority of the American French speakers who speak with such a heavy American accent as if they don't even want to try.
So good to see Bradley back on the show this Friday, last time he was on was with Lady Gaga for A Star is Born (2018), Kevin Bridges is also returning to the show since 2015, but there’s a connection that i just thought of, the last time Kevin was on the show he sat next to Ron Howard, this Friday he’ll be on the sofa with Ron’s daughter Bryce Dallas Howard. How cool right.
Thank you for the translation. Question for you: If the movie is just called “A Vif” in France, doesn’t that translate to something other than “Burnt”?
@@tinjadog Indeed it would be. "À" is simply a coordinating conjunction between words. "Vif" is one of the adjectives meaning "alive". "À vif" would mean "Alive", but it's quite uncommon to use this adjective form without the action it describes. A more correct title would be "Vivant", also meaning alive.
That’s what I thought! (Flashbacks to my high school French class.) So basically the title of the movie in France is “Alive”, which is not at all like the title in English. How odd!
@@tinjadog France making title for USA movies is always a coin flip. Either they translate the title correctly (keeping the right meaning) or give another title keeping the story's context (which I find acceptable), either they invent another title which has little to nothing to do with the original one. Same example with our dear Brad : "The Hangover" became "Very Bad Trip" in France. Excuse for the title ? It's a "very bad trip" from that night to the morning. Thankfully, France sometimes keeps the original title, meaning no damage done. If you are looking for good French translations in movie titles, I strongly suggest the Quebec titles.
@@tinjadog @tonybaihao4178 French here. Yes, "vif" can mean "alive" (like in "mort ou vif" - "dead or alive"), but the general sense is more "lively", "vivid", "sharp", "fast" or "intense". And the expression "à vif" is used here for its double meaning. It's a gastronomy term used to designate the cooking - very quickly, no more than a few seconds - of red meat on the pan. It's also an expression we use to describe someone who's tense, nervous, very emotional or someone whose feelings are put to the test ("il est à vif" means "he's on edge" or "he's very sensitive"). Best regards (and sorry for my grammar...)
Love Bradley. Happy to see him. Then the ad ruins my life. Ads of suffering kids killing me. Not enough rich people in the world to help such little souls?!?
You draw conclusions from a few seconds on a chat show? Hilarious. BTW - you can actually find clips of him on French television doing interviews in French. Unless you define fluent as making no grammatical errors, you'll find he is, indeed, fluent.
Bradley Cooper's portrayal of Bernstein is based on a false narrative. I posted a new video on my TH-cam channel titled THE BERNSTEIN EFFECT. I studied with one of his friends, Ivan Davis, who also performed with him. He's not who you think he is. Arts education was based on his teachings which are designed to make the conductors, pianists and composers stupid. This ruined classical music as an art form and a business. Most of classical recordings are vanity records, because of him. Many of the orchestras have a financial foundation based on criminal activity. They commit wire fraud by soliciting donations with false information. There's a massive amount of jealousy based mental illness, because of Bernstein's assault on arts education. I provide many examples of irrefutable evidence on this subject.
"You have sad eyes, I will keep you..." - - LOL
Well, I mean, who WOULDN'T want to keep Bradley Cooper? He's SO HOT! 🥵🔥
🥺
Good at being kept
SUCH a good phrase. I’m going to try to think of ways to work this into conversations
@@DjinnRummy Agreed!
His accent and his French are great! At least, he makes the effort to speak it❤❤
He is excellent in French. He says he is not, but he really is…….
He’s such an amazing talent. Not to mention easy on the eyes too ❤
I love them both, Sienna and Bradley. He is a good actor with fun and good personality.
I was going to say Bradley Cooper is fluent in French it's not really surprising he can do a French accent
Well fluent is an overstatement ,i heard many interviews of him in French and he kinda struggles

Omg he was a waiter at Cafe Milano? I went there a lot when I was a Georgetown student
Well, do you remember that guy that always f**ked up your order and left a bottle of ketchup at your table?
No, he was a waiter in France, and his boss is now the manager for Cafe Milano

Another I was just a working like everyone else, Cooper's father was a stock broker for Merill Lynch.
omg hahahaha i also have sad eyes and i remember my manager before telling me that they're the reason why i got rehired 🤣🤣🤣🤣
edit: spelling
It’s old if it’s the movie Burnt
Now, that's a horse. But I reckon that's what Napoleon would've said.
1:10 "Pourquoi pas" means "Why not"
1:21 "Brûlé à vif" means "Burnt alive"

No he really is
Cradley Booper?
Pfft Oscar Bait Cooper.

And talking of mental illness Richard.
The story was just an excuse to practice his lame French accent.
This guy is just desperate for an Oscar lol.
It's kind of pathetic.
This interview dates back ftom 8/9 years ago.
You do realize he was promoting the movie “Burnt” which was about 8-9 years ago. Yeah, you probably didn’t even know.
Did this snarky comment - which exposed your ignorance of the passage of time - make you feel better about yourself?
