    Soap & Clay is a family owned business operating in Washington State, but started out online thanks to Mrs. Soap & Clay's kickass brother and his amazing web design skills. The business was started as a tribute to Mrs. Soap & Clay's grandmother, the OG maker in the family that cultivated everyone's love for the DIY life. The studio/retail shop opened in 2017 on 6th Ave in Tacoma, and immediately began teaching soap, bath bomb, lotion, and scrub classes to the makers and maker enthusiasts of the PNW. In 2019, the pottery studio opened as well, making the soap shop a busy place full of artistic energy every minute of the day.
    Mrs. Soap & Clay has been featured on Business Spotlight, New Day Northwest, and was awarded a coveted place on the South Sound's 40 under 40 list in 2019, an award given to the most influential business people under the age of 40 each year. She cried when she walked up to the podium to accept the award. A lot.
    Drawing from her chemistry background and her maker spirit, Mrs. Soap & Clay infuses her favorite things into her soapy designs and creates products that are fun to see, use, and learn to make. Stick around for this ride - she'll take you on a great one.

Scout, your hair looks absolutely gorgeous!! Super cute cut and so shiny! I'll be trying this recipe soon. Shampoo bars are my favorite CPS to make.

    Hi! I made this recipe. I tested the Ph, and it sits around 8-9. (test strips and soap freshly made) I ordered a digital Ph tester and will test again once it arrives. People say shampoo bars should have a Ph around 5 or it can damage your hair. Is this true? What should the Ph be for both the shampoo bars and for regular soap bars? Is there a difference between the two? I use soap Calc (always using 5 % super fat) and do follow the recipes exact so what am I doing wrong? I am pretty new and just want to make sure I am doing things correctly and end up with a nice product. Thank you so much! Love your videos!!

    I'm new to your channel and have been making cold process soap for about a year. I haven't ventured into using aloe in lye (I do goat milk lye solutions in ny soap). For this bar are you just buying aloe water you buy at the store or are you somehow making your own? Thanks a million!

  • @saygoodnight5103
    @saygoodnight5103 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I'm curious what type of Aloe vera you used. A gel, a soft gel, does it matter?

    OMG scout is the female munchkin version of your husband with way less hair of course! 😂 Too cute!!
    I love cp shampoo bars and make them all the time. As for this shampoo, I am curious about why you add 40% coconut oil? Wouldn't that be rather cleansing for the scalp?

    Essentials oils that would be good for this type of shampoo bar?

  • @18Janeen
    @18Janeen ปีที่แล้ว

    Lye concentration? Would 27 or 33% ratio work? What do you use? FYI, your kiddo is the cutest!

    • @MrsSoapAndClay
      @MrsSoapAndClay  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! Lye concentration in all soap recipes impacts thickness during the pour and the amount of time it will take to lose all the water weight, but not the recipe itself. So use what you’re comfortable with!

    How come u use a cold process soap recipe and everyone else doesn’t even actually use soap? They use those noodles n SLSA and all these not soap thing’s. I wanted to do a shampoo bar n someone said that that would be a shampoo bar. But then again these ppl like to tell ppl that ur soap is only shave soap if it’s hot process and that’s bull shit cause u can used my bar soap for shaving I formulated it like that because even I even in the shower luv thick creamy lather. But I was just wondering ur thoughts on the shampoo bars being told that “regular” soap can’t be used as a shampoo bar.

    • @MrsSoapAndClay
      @MrsSoapAndClay  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, not everyone else. There’s a pretty equal split. I personally think the slsa noodles are popular because Lush is a thing, but having tried both I see benefits to both. Just depends on your hair type and needs.

    • @Marie-4Him
      @Marie-4Him 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      And! Those noodles are very expensive, IMHO. @@MrsSoapAndClay

    Amount of water and sodium hydroxide for lye.please

    • @MrsSoapAndClay
      @MrsSoapAndClay  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s based on the superfat you’d like and the water content you’re comfortable soaping with. Plug it into a soap calculator.

      @meghlanasrin691 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @MrsSoapAndClay
      @MrsSoapAndClay  ปีที่แล้ว

      I tend to soap at 2.4x water and 5% superfat for this recipe.

      Nobody is misleading anyone, it’s in the video. You just have to watch to get it. But I love when people self report their inability to do so.
