    I'm so glad (but not 😂) that I'm not the only person who has thought the crispy cataphyll was dead and snapped it off only to realise I'd just snapped off a happy little growth point! But you're right, they will grow back lol.

    I have just stumbled in the world of aroids and I am sooo tempted by many of them will this start to be a new addiction to me? Maybe onece I will be able to live in my own place yes 😁hopefully soon. O boy that velvet on these leaves there is something that alluring like a velvety leaf!? I am sure the big one you have broken the tip by mistake will recover soon plus you know that plants get better roots if you prune them? So nothing has come to hurt the plant will grow stronger. Thanks for taking about your job. I appreciate it. I thought you may be a professional dancer. ❤️

    Just a quick question re: propagation in sphagnum moss. How moist do you keep the moss? Do you just mist it daily so that it doesn't dry out? Also, do you fertilize or add any plant food in order to give the plant nutrients? If you could provide the steps/basics of what you do I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you so much.
    I enjoy your videos and really appreciate your content. Take care and stay healthy. (Oh ... so sorry about the broken growth point!)

    • @olleeriksson4988
      @olleeriksson4988 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @michaelbass2185
      @michaelbass2185 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JamesArmstrongPlants Thank you for responding. I really appreciate it. Also, an added thought re: adding nutrients to plants in moss or mounted on a plank/board. (I think you have a monstera dubia climbing a board.) When an epiphyte is NOT in soil (i.e. mounted on moss, not in a pot), how do you provide nutrients? Add plant food to water that you mist the plant with? Just drench the board (or submerge it) with water that has liquid fertilizer added?
      Also think that your arms are a "national treasure" ... lol. Take care and be well.

    I want to correct what you said about chopping plants. You actually will get bigger leaves OR more leaves if you cut your plants. Especially with Philodendron the fastest way to get big leaves is to chop the top leaves and propagate them.

    In what conditions do you keep your melanochrysum? Mine is such a slow grower, don't know if I should change it up :)

    • @JamesArmstrongPlants
      @JamesArmstrongPlants  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      High warmth and high humidity - around 50-60%. I find it really thrives when it’s nice and humid - even does well in an enclosed space for a while so long as you aerate every day. I had one of mine in a terrarium for a while!

    • @hollypuckett3931
      @hollypuckett3931 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't consider it a leggy plant but of course you will find longer petioles whwn its looking for more light, though it does already have fairly long petioles especially as a mature plant
