  • Even though the current Mazda3 has been around for a few years now, there is still plenty to like about this stylish and fun to drive compact car. Here are some of the top 5 things we like and dislike.

    What an absolutely beautiful car. I bought my 2004 Mazda 3s brand spankin' new in April '04 and it continues to be my daily driver. I just turned 200,000 miles two weeks ago and it still makes me smile every single time I look at it, get in it and drive it. It's been paid off since 2008 and, other than the fact that it still runs perfectly, that's the only reason I haven't dove into their newest offering. Absolutely love me some Mazda and can't wait to see what they have in store over the next few years. There are few truly exciting car makers these days and Mazda is one of them.

      3 years ago, I drove 7 hours (one way) to buy a 2010 Mazda3s (fully loaded) - in mint condition - from a dealership in Ohio. Every drive is an absolute treat. It gets a lot of looks with the ultra rare celestial blue color. My other car - 2008 Mazda6 is not as fancy but it has been a very good car to me over the past 8 years. I'm looking to replace it in the next year or two, and can't decide if I want to replace it with a 3 or 6. :)

    Mazda found a great niche in this saturated market: everyday driving enthusiasts. There are few of us (compared to "appliance-on-wheels" shoppers), and we love Mazda! #drivingMatters
    And as always, great review!

      Really Buddy, yes Ive driven the top end Mazda 3 it's a very good car but I think your kidding your self to come out and say it's this near perfect car. I work with a lady that currently owns a new Mazda 3 and all she does is complain about how many issues hers has had already and to go along with that Mazda's shitty service. To get a Mazda 3 thats really nice and enjoyable you have to get the top end trim or the car is shit, e.g. the engine if you do not get the top end Mazda 3 the engine you get is the 2.0 and its a gutless unrefined piece of garbage. It's get the 2.5 or it's a waist of time.

    I just got this car and I think your dislikes are insignificant. Thing I dislike, They put the push button start in a place that's hard to see. You can't see out the back very well. The infotainment knob is easy to hit by accident, The cup holders in the console get in the way when you drive manual. No cover on the dead pedal. But it drives an handles well and looks gorgeous!

    Here is one thing that drives me crazy: The area where you are supposed to rest your left foot (if driving an automatic) is CARPETED !!! How stupid is that? I've owned a 2006 for over a decade and you can't keep it clean and the carpet wore down there first. What idiots!

  • @Ron-fu5jp
    @Ron-fu5jp 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    I own the 2016 iTouring. First off I'd like to say it's a phenomenal car. It does everything extremely well. A few things I'd like to point out tho that weren't mentioned in this video are: 1. The visibility, especially out the back on the sedan, it's downright awful. Huge pillars on the sides and the way the belt line swoops up and the high rear end, make seeing out of this car a bitch and a half. I've had many close calls in this car when seeing out of my old 2013 Honda Accord EX-L V6 was much better. 2. The center console lid is a piece of junk. Once it's open, the lid is very loose and flimsy, you can twist it with very little effort, and if you let go of the lid, it slams right down sloppily. It should at least have a spring to assist with staying open. Not sure about the higher trims but at least on the iTouring, it's not padded whatsoever. 3. Coming to a smooth stop in this vehicle, in the automatic transmission isn't the smoothest experience, especially when someone not familiar with this car. The brakes aren't the most linear. They have a sweet spot where they bite aggressively, also you can feel the transmission downshifting coming to a slow stop from 60 and it feels a little more "lurch-y" then most other cars I've driven. With all that being said, there's really not a ton of other things I can slam this car for. The seats are excellent, Bose sound system is stellar. Even if you end up going for the lower models with the standard 6 speaker audio system, still very good quality and good bass! The interior is extremely well appointed and everything feels well put together. The glovebox is damped nicely and doesn't slam down like the current Civic. Also at 6 feet tall, there's plenty of room up front, and in the rear for someone of my size. Can easily drive with 4 adults and have plenty of room. Handling is great altho the cheap ass Bridgestone Ecopia tires limit your grip and those bad boys howl like a mother fucker when your corner hard at high speed. Otherwise this car is great lol definitely worth a look. Couldn't agree more Sofyan about how the sedan needs visible exhaust tips! Would really finish off what is otherwise a damn good looking compact sedan.

      Why did you get rid of your V6 Accord? Genuinely curious

    • @Ron-fu5jp
      @Ron-fu5jp 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For a few reasons. Mainly because gas mileage is a priority for me right now. I drive 20k miles a year so the Mazda saves me a ton of money in that department. Also I bought my Accord used so there wasn't any warranty left , I wanted a black interior & I had issues with the infotainment system freezing on my car so I wanted to trade it for something new. Couldn't pass up the great deal my local Mazda dealership offered me either! I do miss the Accord at times tho. I adored Honda's powerful J35 V6 engine. That car was a total sleeper!

    We Germans have the very same problem with the adaptive LED lights which are only available if you order the leather seating (which are great seats by the way - and the white leather looks simply awesome).
    But at least you 'muricans can choose the 2.5l engine. We europeans can't ...

  • @robt5017

    They revised the rear, too. They painted more of the black plastic trim on the bumper so that it isn't as prominent anymore, thereby giving the illusion of the car being lower to the ground. It's a subtle difference, but if you do a side-by-side comparison to the 2016 model, it's definitely noticeable.

      Fab1an82 I have a 2015 Mazda 6 sport with the manual transmission. It's a great car. It rides and handles really well, is super efficient, very reliable so far, comfortable, and I always look forward to driving it. The manual transmission is super precise and the clutch is light and easy to use. For being a base model car it's really nice too. It's not nasty like a base Altima or Camry is. My only complaint with the car and it's a pretty minor one is that the engine is a tad anemic. You'll get some nice updates with 2017 that my 2015 doesn't have too.

    I like Mazda's enough that I am on my fourth in a row. I currently have a 2015 Mazda3 sedan. My only dislike with all the Mazda's I've had, are the really thick A-pillars that cause bad blind spots. I am moving on to Subaru for my next car as they have excellent outward visibility. I'll miss the zoom zoom dynamics from Mazda, but I hate the compromised visibility.

    Biggest problem with Mazda 3 is probably the fact that it will never have a Mazdaspeed, Honda getting Type-R, Nissan is having Nismo, Ford RS, Toyota TGR is coming in near future, while Mazda can't join the hothatch game anytime soon. Mazda CEO insisted they don't have any room for bringing Mazdaspeed back to life, it's still defunct and probably will be for a long time

      Ben The Toyota Corolla is by far a more reliable car, better resale value a lot more bang for your buck, I know you hear in this guys reviews that the Mazda 3 is a sportier better handling car but that just is not the case. Also Toyota offers a bunch of performance upgrades for the Corolla as well and they don't effect the warranty they fully back it up and no hassle. Not to mention the Corolla out sells the Mazda 3 big time sales are not even close.

    We are looking for a compact , for city driving primarily. So I test drove the mazda CX, the 3 GS, the CX5, then went to subaru ( 1 km away) and drove their impreza 2.0 CVT , and went back to drive the GS AGAIN ( get
    to that later) then the Mazda 3 GT all in that order all in the same day!!
    Conditions , city driving , snow pack on the city streets, to highway with clean pavement.
    Impressions, the CX was too small even though it seemed the same
    external size then the mazda 3 ( it had the nicest seats !!) . The CX5 would be the choice here .
    The cx3 was also slower ( heavier I guess, no surprise)
    The Mazda 3 2.0 seemed to have ample power, ample but not overwhelming.
    Went to Subaru , ( as we live in Canada and get lots of snow) But while i loved the interior, the thing was SLOW SLOW SLOW....CVT ...sucks!!!! slowest of them ll by far .
    And that is why we redrove the 2.0 mazda 3 , we couldnt believe how bad the CVT was for acceleration. Then took the GT out and we were like WOW... the GT has lots of power. It was our choice. But Winter tires will be a must!

    Why is it that all the reviews are about the model that nobody would probably buy ( there are 3 other models ) specially the ones with the 2.0 powerplant . You did not mention the cheap move from Mazda when they decided not to provide the aluminum accent on the lower spoke on the steering wheel on the base trim . You also forgot to talk about the horrible colors of all the line up , besides the red and the blue , there is not a good colors in the whole line up . Mazda used to paint their cars in beautiful colors ( remember the Protégé 5 ) at least they should paint the 3 in the same blue as they paint the CX-3 . I just saw the other day a Mazda 3 ( red ) parked next to a Wolkswagen Jetta ( also red ) and the Mazda looked horrible . I took the time to write all this because Mazdas are my cars and I care . Thanks and keep it up , your reviews are very good reviews .

    • @buchajo

      The new CX-9 is surprisingly fast. I have a 2010 Mazda3s (2.5L) - much smaller and lighter vehicle than CX-9 of course - I think I'm running around 7.5 seconds 0-60.... and the new CX-9 I was driving by was right there... I think it does 0-60 in 7.2 seconds.

      Why do you need AWD? Do you drive on steep unpaved roads and live in a snowy climate? If not, just get a set of winter tires. Save money by not buying a CUV or paying for AWD or the fuel economy hit associated with both of those. The winter tires will pay for themselves once you drive 60-70k miles as your OEM tires will last twice as long.

    I drove my dads 2011 Mazda 3 when it was new, quick and fun to drive for the class of car but.the seats were the worst, in a 2 hour drive they gave me a numb butt and back pain. How are the seats in the 2017 ? I'm still driving a 03 S60 and love the car for the seats, starting to look for a new car but the seats are a big thing for me in a car. Are the new Mazda seats as good as the European car seats ?

    • @davetravels9273
      @davetravels9273 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      volvo does make the best seats and a Mazda 3 will be no where near as nice. In this price category, the VW Golf is your best bet, the civic depends on your figure.
