It's not an AI rejecting 90% of claims. It's a program that was written by someone to reject 90% of claims. It's done on purpose and by slapping AI to it just means you can deflect blame.

Hell, ai tells you what medications or operations you should get. Yeah this is just greed. Of course were probably at the point where insurance cant afford to pay out everyone, but that is the fault of the game between the business of insurance and healthcare of raising costs to max out profits over losses. Our system is broken. There are things we can be capitalistic on, luxury or leisure items. Fundamental rights to life items like healthcare, homes and food, should not be subject to capitalization. America needs to wake up, and we need to change this stat. People are dying or suffering permanent damage every minute we delay.

The Robin Hood Effect-when the system becomes so corrupt and the gap between the powerful and the powerless grows so wide, people start to justify the idea of taking from the rich and giving to the poor. It’s a result of feeling as though those in power have stolen from them for so long, and in the minds of some, the only way to rectify the imbalance is to strike back, no matter the cost.

Meanwhile in Sweden we pay about 28%-30% taxes depending on where you live and how much you earn and in this includes health care, you pay about 20$ for a nurse visit and 40$ doctor visit, once you paid 110$ in one year you get a free card from the first day of your visit until the year after same day and month of your first visit (Remaining 12 months). So if you have regular visits daily or every week you get full free care for that year. Same thing with medicine once you paid about 280$ in one year you also get a free card there for the remaining 12 months from the first time you paid. Once the time period is over you start paying again but the process repeats and you can get a free card again.
Taxes don't just go to health care it goes to so many other good things like the school system in Sweden is also entirely free, even college. You even get money for going to school for free and you get 330$ every month and if you want you can take a loan and increase that amount to about 1000-12000$ every month with a super low interest so it's easy to pay off. Only thing you pay for when it comes to school are books/material for your courses, starting from college that is, before college the school provides all material for free.
On top of this which is also because of taxes we have service cars for the elderly and handicapped to help them get to stores, places, friends and family and in this is provided service from the driver to help you get in/out of the car and if you need it help with bagage and to lend you a hand to the doors of the place you're going to, these travels costs you about 5-10$ depending on how far you are going, it can go up to 50$ if you are traveling very long distances but meanwhile a Taxi would cost you double or triple the amount. The type of cars provided are normal ones, big ones that can take wheelchairs, or big ones that provide you a stretcher if you need to lay down, if needed another driver can be hired to also help lift you up the stairs in a strecther and lastly a car that can help with stair climbing with a wheelchair. As well as service cars to the hospital exist for those who are the age 85 and above it is included for you or if you are under the age of 85 and need help the doctor/nurse can send a referral for service car if they evaluate that you can't travel any other way where you pay 15$ no matter the distance and here there is also a free card that is at 180$ so once you paid that in a year all your car rides to the hospitals are free for remaining 12 months as well.
As for insurance, it does exist but it's not per say health insurance it's more insurance for your home, if things get stolen or gets broken etc and this costs you about 30-40$ every month.
Fellow Swedes if i missed something or gave wrong information on something feel free to correct me.
Now this is just my country Sweden, there are other countries in europe who does it even better than us.

@@ReptillianStrike This. In germany it's not even taxes that do this, we technically separate income tax and social deductibles like health insurance and retirement insurance. For all intents and purposes it all gets taken from your gross wages so it's really all the same to me, but here we don't pay for a doctor's visit at all, period. Show insurance card, see doc, go home. Medication depends on whether you get it prescribed, if you do then you pay a small sum like 5€ no matter what the stuff costs (I'm on ozempic for diabetes, and I get a full 3 month ration on one prescription. That shit costs like 1500 bucks, I get it for 15).
Thing is, I'd much rather give up a portion of my gross wages as a sort-of tax every month (it's money I don't budget in anyway) and never have to worry about healthcare rather than have a bit more money in hand every month but have to live in a dystopia where healthcare companies are trying to profit off my suffering and there's always a latent risk an unexpected illness or injury can financially cripple me for life. It's a complete no-brainer.

A lot of what pays for social services/welfare is what's called "arbetsgivaravgift" though, which is an employment tax on your income that the employer pays. So all in all, about 50% of your income goes to taxes.
Taxes is one of the reasons why incomes for the same jobs tend to be lower in Sweden, compared to e.g. the US. But as long as the tax money is well spent, I definitely support the concept.

Asmon doesn't think the murder was justified at all, but he thinks the CEO should have been put in jail. The whole reason why anyone supports Luigi is because this CEO was NEVER going to be put in jail for how his company sought profits. All of the things UHC was doing are just par for the course when we're talking about a multi-billion dollar business whose sole purpose is to gamble with peoples' lives. They have teams of lawyers whose job it is to ensure that everything the company does is legally defensible. Part of the job of any person in a position similar to that of Brian Thompson is to effectively choose to trade the lives or wellbeing of thousands of people in order to maximize their company's profit and that is arguably much more reprehensible than a single murder. That's why there are so many people openly supporting Luigi in spite of the fact that they believe he is a murderer.
The public and media has been openly supporting and even celebrating the killing of supposedly evil people since the advent of public discourse; the difference here is that the person killed was a part of our own nation's system. To act as if this was just a purely senseless murder with no justification requires you to ignore multiple massive elephants in the room.

    • @GorehowlBeardhead
      @GorehowlBeardhead 2 วันที่ผ่านมา +12

And to get on your high horse about someone who's entire income is dependent on public opinion not openly celebrating cold blooded murder is also ignoring multiple elephants in the room.
Lets be real, we all know exactly what he actually thinks. We also know exactly why he cant say it on stream. Don't expect people to tank their careers to validate your opinion. They do that shit in private because they know what they're doing. Me and you can celebrate it as much as we want. Anyone public-facing can't.

@@GorehowlBeardhead Plenty of large content creators have openly praised Luigi's actions. It's pretty silly to defend someone while simultaneously accusing them of grifting. Asmon's got plenty of money and has said plenty of more controversial things on his stream.
I don't agree that Asmon secretly supports Luigi's actions but refuses to admit it on stream for fear of losing his job; I think he's simply exhibiting flawed reasoning in establishing and communicating his position on the matter.

    • @bunklypeppz

One example of aforementioned "elephants in the room" is that money is effectively a cheat code in this part of the world, as it contributes to a positive feedback loop that allows the pursuit of major capitol to grow increasingly unchecked. Having enough money can make certain corporations effectively above the law, which allows them to make even more money, which allows them to influence legislature a politics even more strongly.

Me and my family got to see the viciousness of insurance. My mom recently passed on Christmas Eve. She had "good insurance" and the hospital said it doesn't serve their hospital. The Finance department told her to cancel it and apply for medicaid. Then when she got treatment they denied her medicaid. Neither would cover her implant replacement. They were calling to collect up to the moment and after. She passed with a hole in her chest that wasn't treated.

No smoke, no drink, healthy foods, no microwaving food, always keeping her phone away. A health nut. And this is how they ended up treating her.
My parents were married for 30 years and my dad is still torn up about how he had to fish it out of the bathtub and was calling around in a frenzy and nobody would give them help.
I've had 2 spinal surgeries and what Asmon says about his dad is true. On my second surgery they gave me nothing for pain so now I've got a permanent tightness/pain in my hip from not being able to walk to recover after due to the pain. They all cover for each other.

    • @zettour.
      @zettour. 3 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

Actually, reward money for tips/information is usually respected, especially by larger LE agencies/departments. The only times I've seen them not be respected is when law enforcement doesn't have anything left in their reward fund or it wasn't substantial enough to warrant a reward (aka, they either didn't lead to an arrest and conviction or the criminal was convicted, but not as a result of that tip).
It is notable however that reward money is almost always a per case payout rather than per tip. So you essentially compete with your fellow informants as to who gives police the most valuable information and hence who ultimately receives the posted reward money. Even if you meet the criteria, if someone else's information was more valuable, they would get the money over you.

From what I've seen, we won't know until post-conviction (since reward money requires a conviction to result from the tip) but all signs point to the McDonalds employee getting their reward should there not be any other more eligible people. There's no reason to assume they won't be paid at the moment. The NYPD's Crime Stoppers program also confirmed that the McDonalds employee is eligible.
Now, what could happen is Luigi is escapes conviction via jury nullification. In that case, the McDonalds employee would only be eligible up to $3,500 from the Crime Stoppers program (the FBI requires a conviction for any reward money at all). Also a possibility they have to split it with the other 29 people who called in with useful information.

Furthermore, our IRS generally allows you a medical expenses deduction if you have unreimbursed expenses that are more than 7.5% of your Adjusted Gross Income, which on a moderate six figure income for many of these clowns can be a decent chunk. Taxpayer funded benefits also means that six figure income doesn't need to go to a lot of necessities meaning most of them have premium private healthcare to cover what little they might have to pay for. They don't care about it because A. it doesn't effect them B. they profit and have interests in these pseudo monopoly insurance companies C. it is their regulations that 'mostly' lead to high expenses for people in the first place by design for the sake of point B.
Things will not get better because people vote the same way with no education, intelligence, or wisdom any longer and thus the definition of insanity must dictate their lives. People are also ignorant to government funded healthcare programs which we spend more time subsidizing than it would probably cost to just make a national program. We could also forgo our welfare state provider and defense spending provider to Europe(which is why they have the social programs they do; pompous leeches) and fix this issue overnight but we are stuck in alliances that make no sense from 80 years ago against an enemy that no longer exists so.... *shrug*

Not really. That BC poll showed 41% of young people found the murder acceptable, meaning 59% of those young voters didn't. Considering that's the demographic that likely supports the murder the most (more mature people don't support murder), there seems to be an overwhelming overall majority that doesn't find murder acceptable. They're probably not going to atruggle finding people for the jury. Remember, the echo chamber of the internet doesn't represent general public opinion. The government is fucking dirty. 🤬 I see everyday as a nurse - insurance denying life altering and life saving medications, and it makes me sick. I do all I can to advocate for my patients, but insurance companies constantly shut us down from doing proper treatments. Luigi's family ran nursing homes - the environment I've primarily worked in for more than half my nursing career. You guys are so right and I appreciate that you see where I'm coming from. A lot of my diabetic patients are being denied from one type of insulin to another, being denied Ozempic (which, I'm not a fan of the drug due to the long-term issues I've seen and what I foresee for people taking it that don't actually need to for diabetes management). But it does help some patients too with badly managed diabetes and there's no reason it should cost so much when it's widely available now, no reason for it to be denied if a doctor signed off on it. No reason we should pay hundreds to thousands a month under employer healthcare benefits to only be denied the first time we go to a provider for help, for instance. I'm tired of wasting my money to never use my insurance except for ER visits when something acute happens, because I cannot afford to go to the doctor. I almost went septic over a badly infected back tooth while awaiting dental insurance benefits to kick in last year. Delta dental covered the appointment cost and 1 x-ray. I had to pay full out of pocket costs of over $200 for an in-office tooth extraction. I was lucky to be able to afford it - or I could be dead. I had a very good old-school dentist that insisted on removing the tooth asap - whereas 2 previous dentists told me it had to be SURGICALLY removed. That would've costed me thousands of dollars! My old school dentist (who retired this year sadly) saved me thousands despite having to pay out of pocket, and he SAVED my life. Insurance companies are crooked AF, continue to steal our money, and continue to kill people every day, yet they get away with it! 😭 Back in the day, 10-12 years ago, Delta dental was great, they paid for half of a front upper crown (6 teeth in total) free cleaning yearly, etc. But they're just as sketchy as United Healthcare these days. 😑

In practice what it does is cuts them off from their family doctors locally and forces them to use United Healthcare Doctors who then proceed to prescribe patients United Healthcare approved medications, many of which don't work or aren't as effective as the medications their REAL doctors prescribe. I'm currently trying to negotiate to get Optum out of my place of work because they are literally killing diabetics by putting them on sub par medications and insulins that are cheaper for them to use but have horrible outcomes for patients A1C and blood glucose levels which causes them problems both down the line and now.
Thats just ONE example. There's a sea of other examples where United essentially strongarms patients into accepting negative outcomes and tend not to pay whenever possible which is over 1/3rd of the time. They also have a tendency of calling life saving surgeries 'cosmetic' and not wanting to pay for them in the hopes of you just either eating the cost yourself by being desperate enough or dying before your appeal goes through.

The real problem isn't wether Luigi Mangione goes to jail for "terrorism" it's why the US government continues to allow health insurance companies to deny covered claims with a large percentage denying necessary and fatal insurance claims causing permanent disability and/or death.
It's completely legal in the United States.
The CEO who was executed by Luigi(allegedly) was over the most corrupt healthcare insurance actor UnitedHealth which had a 34% denial rate and even more with delaying claims causing postponed treatment and sometimes the inability to be helped in time.
There needs to be ethical laws that force these companies to save the lives of Americans.

The insane thing is: Health insurance in US is about 9k / year / person. And for a person who earns 100 k a year, the tax rate is 22%. So 9k for health insurance is 9 % of income. That is after taxes, this changes the calculation a bit, but to just simplify lets say that you pay 31 % of your income to tax + health care. And im not converting currencies to keep it even simpler.
Now lets take a free healthcare example country, Finland:
If you earn 100k per year, your tax rate is 31%. On top of this, in finland, you pay about 7,5 % of your income to retirement fund, which is mandatory. But ofcourse in the US, you pay the same, its just voluntary and % might be different. And you also get low cost daycare for kids, free education, etc in finland with your taxes.
This is naturally a simplification, but essentially with the system US has you pay the same amount if you want healthcare as you would if healthcare was included in taxes, this would just mean that EVERYONE gets healthcare. And you actually get less now since its 31% just for healthcare + taxes, when in finland you get a whole lot more on top of that than just healthcare.

Because your sentence is longer if there is clear evidence you committed a crime and you plead not guilty, since you swore to tell the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
The defense attorneys in cases will typically tell their client to plead guilty and make a deal with the prosecutor to lighten their sentence when there's so many signs that their client committed a crime, so he must be thinking something justifies him doing it if he went with a not guilty plea.

And people also keep talking around the massive Medicare/Medicaid elephant in the room, as if that massive single-payer elephant is some countervailing pressure on prices. I don't see the argument for profit incentives being the issue given the way rationing works for systems without pecuniary incentives. It sure seems more to me like there's an issue with how services are provisioned and who the negotiating entities are, where the person who actually needs the service is cut out of the decision.

In the UK citizens pay on average 3268 Pounds Sterling for healthcare per capita each year. That's roughly 4110 USD year.
The benefit is they only have to pay a small deductible when they go in for basic checkups etc. However more serious surgeries or dental appointments can run the risk of long wait times due to high spikes in demand. Such spikes have occurred more often as the UK has continued to allow mass immigration into the country. This has also led to a higher number of citizens dying while on a waiting list. Private options do exist in the UK, but to my knowledge they are typically even more expensive than US options and only used by the extremely wealthy.
In the US going by the statistic in the video US citizens on average pay 550 dollars a month for health insurance. That comes up to about 6600 USD a year.
The benefit is that unlike the UK or other countries with fully socialized healthcare systems if you have the money you can get service upfront, no problem and typically without a delay, and unlike the UK wherein every citizen pays a set percentage of their income each year US citizens have the freedom to choose cheaper options, this means that if you're a fairly health individual you don't necessarily need extensive (higher priced) medical coverage.
A specific issue with the US system is that with the introduction of Obamacare health insurance was made mandatory, this added cost also led to the introduction of laxer insurance policies which allows a large swath of extremely unhealthy people the same health insurance as the rest of the country. While from an empathetic standpoint this makes sense it makes little sense in terms of cost. Insurance only works as a system when the number of people who actually 'need' it is a fairly small percentage (and this also applies to socialized healthcare systems as less cases = less strain on the system). Now the main issue is that because over a third of the US healthcare costs are attributed to obesity and the comorbidities therein outside of the upper echelon of Insurance companies they run on narrow margins. Thus their methodology is to deny claims and essentially BS their way around cost overruns.
Beyond that there is an issue in the US where our own medical costs (even before taking insurance into account) are excessively high, and this can be more so attributed to Hospitals and Pharmaceutical companies which are for profit, and make the gains made by health insurance companies look miniscule by comparison.
One of the simplest ways to lower medical costs in the US to match our prices to those worldwide, there's no reason why medication which is only 5$ in Mexico is 500$ in the US.

For a comparison, how much "free" healthcare costs in Europe: I work in Germany and I effectively pay much more than the average American, or so it seems. Around 900 Euro in my case, half of this is directly paid by the employer, half by the employee (me). Although I never actually see the ~450 Euros I pay, because these are also directly deducted from my income, so it doesn't affect your take-home-pay. Just for transparency, the amount I gave here (~900 Euro) is the maximum amount a single person needs to pay for healthcare in Germany, as this amount is based on income, up to an upper limit, which is called the "Beitragsbemessungsgrenze", the "contribution assessment ceiling", which limits how much a person pays for social security (with contains contributions to unemployment insurance, healthcare etc.). I "unfortunately" (\s) earn above this limit, which means I have to pay the maximum amount, and it would probably be cheaper to switch to a private healthcare insurance, not the mandatory state provided one.

I questioned what the dude said but I googled it. So yeah it's 358 euro if you make 85000 euro a year. The average cost here is $477 which is comparable to yours, but we pay deductibles, and are frequently denied. So yeah we're paying way more overall with shit coverage. Idk why my fellow Americans think we have the better system

    • @luks3n
      @luks3n 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

@@mike60061 where do you get 358 Euros from? You can easily verify what I said, because these percentages are fixed. As a toy example, a single person with 72000 Euros of income a year (brutto, so before any deductions) pays 462.77 × 2 Euros, this value only varies by the percentage of "healthcare provider additional contribution" amount, which each healthcare provider can set themselves, which ranges from 1%-2.5%. This is the maximum amount. Your 85000 Euro a year example would pay the same.

No one is paying those 19000, the system is specifically designed so that it does NOT get paid. The hospital takes the loss (that's why the invoice is so high), meaning they won't pay any taxes. Hospitals in the US cannot legally execute the debt in any way, they can't repo your stuff or affect your credit score. If you pay those 19000 you're outright stupid.

50:49 The legal definition of terrorism is actually somewhat complex, and distinct from how it is defined for the purpose of common parlance. LegalEagle had a vid where he spoke to a former NY prosecutor about it, who said that the Alvin Bragg DA office might be setting themselves up for failure on that count. Doesn't mean Luigi isn't going to prison forever, does mean they might struggle to convict him of first degree murder (which can carry the death penalty). Might be worth a watch.

As disgusting as what the health companies do, and they should have been legally held accountable a long time ago (which would have prevented all this to start with, the gov allows this to happen to the public by these companies), still don’t think an execution style murder with a weapon is necessarily the same thing as denying someone health coverage. Which is kind of the issue in a nutshell. Because it’s done from so far away and people are just statistics to these companies, it takes the humanity out of it.

I do not condone murder but this incident has finally drawn attention to a systematic issue that literally kills people whose only crime was not being born wealthy.
Why UHC needed to pull so many plugs to unalive seniors to make $22,000,000,000 in 365 days is much more disturbing than a guy pulling the trigger.
You saw all the coverage, they don't even give half that treatment to school shooters, but this guy was shown everywhere by the government and pretty much they made an entire photo session with him, scolded by 30 policemen, and they expect people to not be pissed off? How many people get shot every single day, but hey, they are not CEOs, so let's send the local sheriff to arrest them, and free him in a few years with a bail and community service.
