  • I make the high voltage Aluminium battery (2 volts in basic) with Household Materials and "accidentally" get 2.3 volts :)
    The TEST of this battery: • TEST of High Voltage A...
    VOLTAGE: 2.3 volts
    CURRENT: 100 mA
    Aluminium-air batteries (Al-air batteries) produce electricity from the reaction of oxygen in the air with aluminium and the voltage of the cell is 1.2 volts.
    Aluminium-air batteries are primary cells, i.e., non-rechargeable. Once the aluminium anode is consumed by its reaction with atmospheric oxygen at a cathode immersed in a water-based electrolyte to form hydrated aluminium oxide, the battery will no longer produce electricity.
    MAKE IT:
    Positive electrode:
    - Graphite plate current collector
    - Activated carbon + manganese dioxide (air catalyst) active material
    - Vinegar cathodic electrolyte
    Polymer seperator
    Negative electrode:
    Aluminium
    Potassium hydroxide or Sodium hydroxide anodic electrolyte
    You can also use baking soda!

    Question. What if you replaced the aluminum with aluminum powder. Make it so you can add the powder as it’s consumed. Use a stainless or carbon to complete the circuit

    • @blahblahblahblah2837
      @blahblahblahblah2837 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It would be hard to turn the aluminium to powder without it oxidising before you add it to the mix. It might work, but it will probably reduce the capacity of the battery severely

      Rajamohan Reddy you need to make a casing that can you open and replace the aluminium. I think that casing that is used in lead acid battery will be good.

    Good day sir. I'm delighted with your battery experiments. I'm trying to make an aluminum / copper / acid battery for an electric bike for my kids, so I would pack it in a plastic tube of 50 mm, 600 mm long. Do you think this is possible? I ask for your advice. Greetings from Serbia.

    • @robweaver8872
      @robweaver8872 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not to be mean here, but I'm sure you figured out by now that this sort of project is not viable since you commented this a year ago. Aluminum copper is a pretty poor battery chemistry, and is not rechargeable. Setting out to build an ebike battery from scratch without prior experience is most likely going to end in frustration. However, there are battery chemistries that are more doable with homemade materials that can yield decent results. Lead based batteries are one of the easier ones to make from scratch, however you will likely never create something strong and energy dense enough to drive an ebike. A slightly more realistic goal(But still unrealistic), is making a big battery for solar energy storage, or back up power. Commercial lead acid batteries are barely energy dense enough for ebike. but a homemade one most certainly won't be turning wheels very fast. ;P Another viable option for homemade storage is super caps/carbon batteries. They are just carbon on both sides! Safe, and they can pack a good punch if you know what you're doing! I do believe that it is possible to make a short range homemade ebike capacitor/battery from scratch at home! TONS of work though!
