I had to turn down the bass on my speakers for this, or my shelf rattled. I was considering this game, it's pretty popular with non-board gamers, as a "family" type game, but yeah, I forgot how simple the base gameplay is.
Played this solo several times (with harder difficulties also) until I felt like I had solved the game to a satisfactory degree. Not that deep but had some room for smart decision making. Deciding who will escape and who will be sacrificed is one thing to think about.
It was good to see an honest review of this! We've just played this for the first time tonight and was a bit underwhelmed sadly. Not as fun as i thought! Does playing the reveal action mean you can only place a tile adjacent to your meeple or can it be placed anywhere? Thanks!
Hey! To answer your question, from what I understood, you can only reveal a tile adjacent to the tile you're on. Otherwise, it would be even more easy :p
Great review! I really appreciate your honest and objective opinion. I really dislike games marketed as a "core box" that really doesn't feel like a complete game. Seems more like a marketing gimmick that reveals itself to really be a money pit. This is particularly a problem for me with light weight games. Thx!
Another KS graduate with a thin core and a suite of expansions. Looks a bit cheap with standard meeples and Carcassone style tiles. Probably harmless- if someone plonked it on the table I would play but my mind would be on curry-anticipation or such.

Cheap nasty tat, the brutal honesty of BoardGameBollocks always gives me a good laugh, I also got a sore throat after watching the review of this game, I best stay clear of Sub Terra. Off topic question, will there be a review of the 6th edtion of Car Wars? I ask because I havent seen many reviews I could confidently say are honest, I'm very sceptical of the opinions I have seen of the game so far, particully those coming from supposed Classic Car Wars veterans, anyway, it would be nice to get a trusted opinon on the new version before shelling out my hard earned cash. It has potential, it's maybe not all that bad, but could that hinge on an expansion? Is there a content remedy? Is there an expansion that really adds a solid layer of needed game depth? The Investigation expansion sounds interesting (as could Incubation or Extraction, I guess)? IS IT WORTH OUR TIME AND BOTHER?!? You gotta come back and tell us whether or not Sub Terra is worth our time and bother today and in the future! It's your promise! 0:32 Or is it more of an "as is" game where adding an expansion would be like trying to add an expansion to Forbidden Island or Forbidden Desert? Is it pretty much a variation of Forbidden Island or Forbidden Desert? And not much will move it past what it is, which is fairly shallow?
There is a Sub Terra 2 being delivered to KS backers soonish. I backed the entire collection, and I think it’ll be a great piece of my collection. I know it’s not crazy good, but I think it’ll be a unique cooperative tile-laying game with multiple expansions and solo mode and easy rules.
Such a disappointing game. Theme and presentationare quite nice, but the gameplay is just poor. 1 of only 3 games I have rated as 2/10 on BGG with 302 games rated.

Easy game to get to the table and play with non-gamers. I've played it solo but it has fallen a bit flat the last couple times I've played it.
Never played it, but heard mostly not great things about this one.
Maybe try the sequel when it’s released…can’t get any worse…can it?
