There was a visit back in 2013 when I went with a friend and it had been raining all evening, but at 9:00 they tried to go on with the show anyway. The rain kept getting harder, and it became evident they were going to have to stop, but rather than end it directly after the "bubbles" sequence, they continued on to the part where the Evil Queen was sending the villains after Mickey and they were screeching about how they were going to "take his spirit", and then they stopped. So hundreds of parents were dragging out their screaming kids who were bawling because they thought Mickey was dead.
Mickey Mouse is dead. That's whey they replaced his head face mold a few years ago. He no longer looks the same as he did in the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s. He's even skinnier now.
If I were him in that situation, when the fire came on again, I would just shrug while my hands were up. Then act all exited and happy knowing it finally worked
The cast member that played Mickey must have gotten the crap scared out of him when the pyro from his hands happened unexpectedly. This has got to be the most number of technical difficulties I have ever seen in one showing of Fantasmic.
Mickey just kept going without the fountains flowing in the restart. That's our favorite mouse for you. Always keeps the show going. This video was actually featured in TPM Vids' video on Fantasmic fails, malfunctions, and bloopers, and that's how I found your channels. Thank you, TPM!!!
I applaud the cast and crew for pulling through during this performance! This is a hard show and I am sure it's very easy for things to go haywire. APPLAUSE
They're bound to have technical issues every once in a while due to how technologically advanced this show is! bravo for continuing on even with the issues!
I always admired how hard these people worked to get a good show on, the same every time. But as you know, technology fails on you from time to time. The firework gloves always intrigued me, and how risky it was to handle it.
Poor Mickey, talk about a night, and he/she (actor height purposes) must've felt bad for the others too. Mickey: "uhh Maleficent?" Maleficent: "what?" Mickey: "Do you need some help there? I can pull you up if you want." Maleficent: "nah, I'm good, you're gonna kick my ass anyway so might as well have a sneak attack" Mickey: "I win regardless so your argument is invalid." XD
Shiny S. Network Sadly, I believe Fantasmic will be closed when you come in February. Disneyland is creating Star Wars land and has many attractions that are closed this year due to the construction.
@@dakota.lights They are not the same department and Billy, There could be many factors - Working in theatre and experienced in the tech side of things, there could be many factors; Stage manager not giving the cue on time, There was lag between the remote and pyro itself, Operator delayed in pressing the fire button on cue, Failure in the firing control systems in the gloves and even a faulty batch of pyro's. Every system is checked and rechecked especially pyro and obviously you can not test a pyro as its a one of thing but who ever is responsible would of made sure that if something was not working correctly then a back up would of been put in place.
The 3 fails were 1) The fountains weren't working properly. 2)The puff of smoke coming off Mickey Mouse's fingers. 3) Maleficent was not rising to the top hiding behind the stage.
I was there during that show and I knew that the Fantasia scene was missing, I seemed to be the only one to notice. I shrugged it off (though I knew something was wrong due to my love for this show) and then they cancelled it for a few minutes. Thank goodness it was fixed and the show went well after it (:
Mickey: *raises hands up waiting for fire to start coming out of his fingers* Mickey: Oh no! Where's my fire fingers? Lemme try again... Mickey: *moves arms* Mickey: There we go! Oh no! I'M BURRNINGGGGG! HELLLP MEEEEEEE!
Something similar happened to us on the 22nd of December 2015. Ok so when the princesses go out on the water Ariel never came out. And then on the pirate ship they went faster than normal and didn't fight it was strange. Then when it left the main area it stopped. (We were on the very far edge so we could see it) and the princess boats were coming and the ship was still in the way. All of a sudden all the lights on the island came on bright white. And you could tell workers were scrambling to fix this. Then it all move again and it was over. But at the dragon part more stuff went wrong. Merfy never breathed fire! None one the water too! Plus at the very end Mikey's fireworks were delayed then audio would cut out now and then. It was a giant mess and with Star Wars land we won't see it for two whole years and that's how fantasmic says goodbye!
This should be just so devastating to the actors and the producction, It is such a high tech show and for them to offer it every night is a risk yet the mayority, its pulled off with grace and magic.
But they have ALL DAY to rehearse and make sure all the technical aspects are working right. They should be able to get it at least WORKING right. This is pathetic, especially when some guests wait over TWO HOURS just to see it.
I've seen Land's Fantasmic ALOT(used to be pass holder) I want to say I've only seen 2 perfect, nothing going wrong, nothing broken, or delayed ever. Very technical show.
There is no cut backs to this show as they just spent alot of money to fix this show with a new dragon, new HD projectors, new LED lighting systems and new sound systems. Yes they are going to have problems but its because its very complicated.
Ok, in response to all the responses to my comment, IT WAS MEANT AS A JOKE. I did the College Program at Disney, and while I did not work at this show, I understand how difficult it is to run things, and sometimes things do go wrong despite how tight everything is. I'm glad they still went ahead with the show anyway, because that's what Disney does, giving the best to their guests regardless of difficulties. That's why I love Disney so much and keep coming back to it.
Even though the show didn’t go to plan, at least they gave it a second go and also you have to appreciate the effects and effort that goes into a show that has so many effects, so it will have a few problems and you just have to appreciate the effort that the crew are putting into fixing the problems for when they do happen.
The joys of an automated show with piles of simultaneously run cue stacks for absolutely everything (lights, pyro, audio, fountains, barges, animatronics) but the actors on stage. They probably need another half year to debug all the new effects and hardware. But hey, when the big cheese gives a firm opening date to the marketing department, the show must go on even if a third isn't even installed or working yet. After a year of it being there it should be ok. Moving fountains... about time!
If you look closely you can see the fire hit Mickey in the face. I would've quit right away. I'm ain't putting up with fire hitting an extreamly hot and heavy costume
Val and Brit accually it is true. Because of all the under body gaurdment and everything in his hands that make him shoot out the fire works and the head and the body padding. It's is true it's hot and heavy
Eligio gonzalez I didn't say it wasn't. I said they literally can not put Mickey into a situation where he has that many chances to catch fire. Especially with how close he is to all the pyrotechnics.
I just started laughing when Maleficent's elevator failed to rise and i hope Mickey was ok after his pyro malfunctioned after he dropped his hands that could've been disastrous
I saw this when I was there just 3 weeks ago and everything went well. I feel bad that the show had to go through with it. But hey, we all make mistakes
The gloves not going is fairly common (as well as the peter pan stunts). Ive seen the show without the gloves multiple times in the past year. The Maleficent issues though.....
I think the reason why the pyro was delayed is due to the gel gloves probebly jamming it and took awhile and yes theres gel gloves incase mickey slips and falls
Omg I love this video and also I feel so bad that this happen I love the new fountains and something like that should never happen so sad for them and the camera you used to record this is AMAZING!!!!!!M I was also wondering if you could record the whole show because I want to see all of the new effects and changes they've made to my favorite show on the planet'!!!!!!!
Yes, of course! I filmed the whole thing that night but not everything was working so maybe the next time I go I will film it all and hope everything goes according to plan :)
jevijevita Check out the video I must uploaded. I used the footage from this performance but I still plan on going back and filming this weekend! Enjoy :)
I went yesterday to fantasmic and waited a good 2-3 hours to see the show, and all of a sudden the fountains and the mist stop working. Then they cancelled it..
Computers can't be 100% perfect all the time. Lil' blips like these happen sometimes. Honestly, I think it's quite funny. Except for the first pyro attempt, that shit would be scary.
I remember one time we waited two hours before the show started to get in then after an hour of waiting after 9:00 they cancelled it so they gave us all a pass to return the next day after 7 and get to sit at the front
when i went back in February and I saw the 9 o'clock show for fantasmic when the the princess books came out Snow White's both the lights weren't working so they just had to shine the spotlight on her boat so I'm sitting there and I'm like to my mom so we didn't get a fail this time she's like yeah
Not to be an entire noob but what was the problem with fountains. I got that Mickey nearly got killed when his gloves set of at the wrong time and malicefent didn't appear.
The fountains were lit up and rotating, but no water was coming out. Also I'm not sure if I changed, but the fireworks in his gloves are supposed to spray sparks out, not get completely stuck inside.
There weren't any problems when I went 2 weeks ago (from today). They must have gone through it a couple times to make sure it was actually done correctly.
The fountains don't move anymore so there aren't a lot of problems anymore. Most of the problems were caused by the fountains. The show is going under refurbishment again in January and hopefully they fix the fountain problem
Stage management needs better timing. The pyro sequence is timed, the cue for the pyro was late. Even the cue for the fountain was way off. Now that this night time show had 1 year off, gives enough time to smooth out the timing kinks. If you agree tap thumbs up, disagree thumbs down.
MY GOD, WHOEVER DID STAGE CREW HAS TO BE FIRED!!! I felt so sorry for Mickey when his fire hands didn't go off correctly leading up to him probably burning his feet😰

💯
I have to say Mickey was great at acting like everything was fine
THE SHOW MUST GO OOOOOON lol
I bet that Mickey actor was like petrified to try that pyro again! I know I would!

The stage manager has to be shitting bricks.

I have seen Fantasmic about 50 times (sad, I know) and I have never seen a fail. I love the show and it's so magical each and every time.
Sad? You have no idea how much I envy you. I'd love to be able to see Fantasmic that many times but sadly I've only been able to see it once
+AnimalCracker45 I saw it once... when I was like 3. I hardly remember anything... :'c

Chrisandjen14 awww :( But I am going in April... Well that killed my spirit. What about Space Mountain? Fuck, if that is closed so god help me... 😰
Some technicians got fired that night haha
Lol
Everyone screws up but this wouldn't get people fired

As we say folks the show must always go on
1:57 Those flames were really early too. About a solid 5 seconds.
Maleficent throwing a fireball with her staff while under the stage is the funniest and cutest thing ever.

This show was better 15 years ago. So much for 2014.

Eligio gonzalez The Fantasmic costumes Mickey wear in Fantasmic are fire resistant.
***** That simply isn't true. Mickey couldn't preform in those conditions if he was in even more danger than the other characters.

you must've been in Florida, this is the California version which has been down since January of last year due to Star Wars land construction.
The gloves not going is fairly common (as well as the peter pan stunts). Ive seen the show without the gloves multiple times in the past year. The Maleficent issues though.....
I can't believe that last night on April 22nd, the dragon that was on the stage it caught on fire and everyone had to evaluate
hey at least tick-tock the crocodile came back at this show hahaha
True that!!!
My Fantastic fail was the dragon missing the fire 🤣🤣
That's a fairly common one. Having seen the show quite a few times, the dragon failing to breathe fire is pretty common among technical failures
Looks like the fountains were on full blast
That must have been humiliating for that cast member. I would. But it was funny.

Woah that failed so bad. I saw that show just a few days ago this didn't happen. It worked correctly. This is like REALLY bad though.
I bet the show was experiencing technical difficulties with the pyrotechnics and trapdoors bc Maleficent got stuck.
Aghhhhhhhh my hand is on fire......somebody is getting fired for mis-timing this trick...
jeez props to that mickey!! I mean ur probs not watching this but I hope you know that thats awesome!!

Second pyro attempt, Mickey looked a bit PO'ed
I feel like they choose the best actors for mickey because when something wrong happens to mickey h splays it off better that the other characters do
The mist screen cannot work
Why Mickey Pyro 5 Second Out And LED water screen Not working and why has delayded
woddy: BUZZ LOOK MICKY ALMOST ON FIRE
Buzz: WHERE?!?!? *they both see the 1st attempt*
*woddy laughs* buzz: you jerk he could of died that day!

Could mickey be the next doctor?
What happened
Oh my God, was she okay???? I mean he...he...of course. Them.
lol what happened?

+David Shupe Also those are good actors to continue without it working correctly
Mickiy 's magic aint working
ahhaha what happend to the evil queen
I also think the voise over failed for mickey

Choreography needs to be neater
It was a great show but due of technical difficulties the show was a big fail.
I know why it's failed because their was no water screen only projcetors
It would have been better with out the pople shouting
Another thing that's failed that robe bmlf moving head cannot rise the up the stage
I know why the fantasmic is failed because there was no water screen
Only Projcetor
okay so you show me pictures you can tell it said the very Disney film at it it's just something that you do give a f****** s*** about anything what's happening so good for you Mickey all the kids are going to be crying about what you did happy joy mouse ummmmmmmmm plz don't play that good it is dab
?
Having a bad day?
