wow shoe got a hearing in 5 months? I had to wait 9! it I filed in august as well and I am still waiting, the LTB should be under investigation because at this rate Its hard to convince me that they are NOT trying to drive landlords out of the business
I would never become a landlord unless there is an immediate eviction law in place that I could have them out before the end of one month. It's too risky financially if it means a lengthy court process and then a cleanup fee. There should also be a credit report or something that flags potential renters as a problem if they have a history of unpaid rent and damaged property. I also think we should be more like Japan where a 6 month rental deposit is required in addition to a damage fee.
Just curious, if a tenant doesn't pay during the time of a dispute, can the Ontario Landlord and Tenant Board grant a mortgage payment relief order from the bank to the landlord?😂
Imagine the fraud that landlords would do! They would collect money from the tenant while saying that they didn't get any money from the tenant to get mortgage relief payments.
tenants not paying rent and should not be allowed to stay in the apartment more than 3 months and should be evicted- they can go to the government shelters. Change the laws to favor the landlords who have bad tenants
I would never invest in rental housing in Canada. No wonder there's a rental housing shortage there. Canada is a terrible place to be a landlord. There are numerous other better places to invest in rental housing.
I am facing this turmoil after my tenant damaged my rental property to an extensive proportion. The tenant was an advocate, who dragged me to the courts ,the case is going on in the courts of Bangalore in india since last two years. Disgusting mindsets of tenants.
Me too. I also invest in a REIT within my TFSA, receiving monthly rental income every month tax-free, while avoiding all the headaches that come with being a landlord. My REIT has professional property managers to deal with all of that.
There should be an insurance for landlords that tenants need to pay. Same as a rental car company requires you buy insurance or show proof of insurance incase you damage a rental car or steal it for an extra few months past the agreement without paying
it's essential to consider Landlord Insurance in Ontario. In Ontario, rental property insurance is essential for landlords as it shields them from financial losses caused by property damage or liability issues that may arise during tenancy

@fofal When landlords sell, they will sell those who want to buy and occupy because nobody wants to buy for rental purposes. That means less rental property and higher prices. Economics 101 = when demand is higher than supply, prices go up.
Ummmm. The way the laws work doesn't even allow a landlord to easily "get out of the business". I was doing it for decades and could not have foreseen what is happening today.
This is the reason when tenants complained not enough rental in the market. Landlords would rather sell or keep vacant. No support from Government.
