Just FYI...A1UP has confirmed delay in orders due to issues in China. Also A1UP website has changed ship date from March 1 to month of March with no specific date
I think the issue here is, it's obvious they either can't, (licensing) or won't (probably would increase the cost of the cabinet or reduce their cut) put games from multiple companies on the cabinet. They knew people wanted Burgertime and Karate Champ but were at a loss for what else to put on the cabinet... I'm just glad to have something else than them try to release a cabinet with only 2 games on it again. It's not like they'll ever release another Data East cabinet only for horizontal games, I don't think anything else they put on the cabinet could be considered a marquee title and same goes for Caveman Ninja and Bad Dudes.
I scratch my head constantly when I see some of these game choices. I know they have to take price of licensing in consideration but really that is what they get paid to do. I would have dropped caveman ninja and bad dudes due to the vertical screen and just random title feel. I would have chosen Super Burgertime to keep with the theme and Robotron 2084 to utilize the twin stick feature.
Thank you for the review of the cabinet. As of the writing of this I think you might be the first person to put Caveman Ninja running on arcade 1 up footage out. I am not even sure if Arcade 1 up has mentioned the format in which caveman ninja or bad dudes is presented in so I am happy you highlighted that. Thanks for the solid content

Yes have already ordered mine I actually have a coin-OP karate champ but it got struck by lightning I can fix but the parts are higher than buying this cabinet new with 4 games I had my karate champ about 26 years love it cant wait to get my new one
Awesome looking Burger Time cabinet and makes me want to eat some burgers just looking at it! It does seem like these games don't match well though especially since only two are vertical.
Not getting this, but it looks surprisingly good. Caveman Ninja looked great even with it being on a vertical screen but I think Bad Dudes is showing its age.

Why didn't they just make a Burgertime/Karate Champ and a separate Bad Dudes/Caveman Ninja, and sell each in two varieties, all as limited releases? Can anyone explain why that would not have been a great idea? They've sold plenty of cabs with only two games on them.
Not for me. Glad you got one though! I have 4 cabs thusly, will prolly get Frogger although it will certainly play like doodoo since you need 4 way gate and it comes with 8 way gate for Time Pilot...Alsoo….where is our DigDug? Not on the 40th PacMan cab like it should be..... it's nowhere.
Oh man...this is what I was waiting to see before placing my pre-order and now that there finally is footage of all the games, I just can’t have these horizontal games on what is perhaps one of the most beautiful cabinets Arcade1up has made!!! Everything is so faithful to the original but then the huge black letterboxes remind you that they probably had to throw these in instead of carefully thinking the choices through. So so frustrated. Even my wife said this one looked great (she’s not a gamer and we already have 7 cabinets) but...ugh...I’m just going to have to hold out and wait on this one. So sad. Even if they went with a horizontal screen and had fake side art for the vertical games (like what they’re doing perfectly with the upcoming must get Sega cabinet), that would have been SO much better. What a missed opportunity.

I Admittedly was wrapped up with all the other cabs so I can truly say I had no idea about this till I tested it myself. It's easy to get caught up when you're at a show as massive as CES. I agree that maybe they could have put two other more fitting games but I'm having fun with Burgertime and Karate Champ. Anyhow... thanks for watching!

Ralph - thanks for the detailed review of this cab. Does this cab have the monitor tilted back more than other A1UPs?? It looks like it is more slanted back than my Galaga and other Gen1s cabs. Did A1UP make that change in Gen3?
They upgraded all the screens in the latest versions of the cabinets to a manufacturer called "BOE". The monitors have MUCH better viewing angles and brightness / contrast ratios. Well this explains why no youtuber at CES showed any footage of the other games on Burgertime cab while preorders were live. On one hand the cab itself looks awesome!! On the other hand u have a vertical monitor so common fukn sense should tell u 4 vertical games!! They could of went Burgertime, Karate Champ and then they could of went games like Vapor Trail, Heavy Barrel (using twin sticks) or even Lock N Chase which is badass game!! Whoever the person is at Arcade1up who selects the games for the cabs should really do better...period!
Anyone should have known Bad Dudes and Joe and Mac were going to be letterboxed on a vertical screen. But lets be honest, no one was buying is cabinet for those games... It was either Burgertime, or Karate Champ. I'd rather they go this path than have them put Burgertime pillarboxed on a 4:3 monitor.

I truly had no intention of buying this cabinet. However, I had so much fun playing BurgerTIme and Karate Champ at CES that it changed my opinion a bit. The feeling you get playing it without the cookie cutter design is also unique, it kind of feels less like the old 1up's and a bit more custom. Maybe I'm jadded a bit because I was gifted the review unit but I'm really digging it, despite the horizontal games being on the cabinet.
Not for the full price no. I would not pay more than 200.for this max. Plus its smaller and I'd only get it for burger time. It's a shame it does not include easy to play bar games like tapper, timber, or lemmings, food fight, or rampart.
Retro Ralph well obviously they don’t need it for burger time , but beat em ups can get exhausting and what about gaunlet , I need a good 5 hours to beat that game
Those giant bezels kill me! All that wasted real estate to make it look original makes no sense. Until they put much bigger monitors in the new cabs I’m not buying. I do like the side panels on this but that’s it.
I like the cabs look alone. The games just not appealing to me...plus not for the price as other better " fun" cabs". I will wait for the next wave. Also arcade 1up needs to listen to gamers and fans " like surveys" to get a better understanding what games " we" want included in cabs. I also believe every cab should include 4- 5 games all different generes to fighting- sidescrollers
We all know we're paying $400 for the cab and graphics because the games are pennies. I feel like Ralph is advertising for them. We know "limited" means jack for A1UP cause we know they would make a variation with the Karate Champ graphic after this. If it is 3000, you would think it's already sold out but NOPE.
Retro Ralph already said he wasnt preordering or buying one....they sent him 1 to review and to keep....good on him for letting us all know about the 2 horizontal games that are jacked up before we all found out the hard way.
I'd rather pay 400 for the Burgertime cabinet than 100 for the same thing with the Karate Champ cabinet they originally showed. Also the CEO said during interviews that they weren't going to re-release these games, at least not in the next couple years.
The one they meant jack on was the space invader cab. Limited run..once they sell out they are out... lol..yeah right. Walmart can't sell them out at 149. Burgertimes issue is the lack of appeal for that game title with some folk. It was a no brainer for me..but I can totally see why some would pass on it. Plus yeah...they will make a variation probably sometime down the road. Not limited run though for the pennies that's worth.
Is the volume control like the Turtles cab where it changes by degrees or is it like the old ones with the 3 options? I would guess it's like the Turtles cab but it was in development for so long now I worry that it'll have the 3 volume options toggle... Not that it'll change much since I already preordered it anyway as a birthday present for my spouse, but I've been curious.
Hi great video, can you confirm if it has the scan line option like all the newer cabs?, also going by the artwork on the control panel is the 2nd player controls for a northpaw, i.e using the right stick rather than the standard left stick to control player 2? thanks
Material Defender yeah idk why but the controls bother me... I enjoy the arcade 1up because they normally get pretty close to the original controls atleast for the art work game having so many controls I don’t think I would enjoy playing this... same reason I didn’t get the rampage but atleast the controls on that were correct for the art work... I would of got this if they kept the karate camp art work even tho I like the burger time art work more
I pre ordered this cab, however I wish they used better games for it. Would have been better if they put Donkey Kong, DK Jr, Paperboy, Dig Dug, or even Qbert in the mix. My question is, can you change the pcb's out to play other games? I would love to see an inexpensive way to change out the games, or add new games. Either simply by downloading from a website, or possibly buying a USB preloaded with different games from 1 UPS website.
You're not going to see Nintendo games for some time, as Nintendo takes a pretty hard stance on who and how their games cam be resold. You can bet that if DK or DK jr. ever end up available, they will be limited cabinets all their own. We might see Paperboy if Arcade 1up decides to do another cabinet with a dedicated and specific control scheme as I believe the original had handle bars. As far as the other ideas go, AtGames is doing similar to that, might want to check out the videos on this channel about their arcade machine.
@@RetroRalph That is what I was thinking. I could care less about Karate Champ, so eliminating the 2 sticks to make room for buttons I would be ok with it.

I play this on Intellivision, the best game on that system imo. I have a Colecovision and I’m looking for it for that. On 2600 it’s just ok.

Bad Dudes was always kind of a bad game. It just entered meme status with the 'are you a bad enough dude to rescue the president' screenshot.

Did they upgrade the screen in this to IPS? The Wave 1 vertical machines were AWFUL due to the poor quality TN screens...

So had arcade 1up not given you a cab...would you have purchased it knowing it's a limited edition run?
I truly had no intention of buying this cabinet. However, I had so much fun playing BurgerTIme and Karate Champ at CES that it changed my opinion a bit. The feeling you get playing it without the cookie cutter design is also unique, it kind of feels less like the old 1up's and a bit more custom. Maybe I'm jadded a bit because I was gifted the review unit but I'm really digging it, despite the horizontal games being on the cabinet.

Not for the full price no. I would not pay more than 200.for this max. Plus its smaller and I'd only get it for burger time. It's a shame it does not include easy to play bar games like tapper, timber, or lemmings, food fight, or rampart.
They would be worth it if they included a save and load function. Whose gona sit for hours and hours till the end of each game
I haven't heard them talk about save functions but I like the idea for certain games. Thanks for watching!
Retro Ralph well obviously they don’t need it for burger time , but beat em ups can get exhausting and what about gaunlet , I need a good 5 hours to beat that game

How many levels are in Burger Time? Just wondering how long the game plays, if you keep winning. It's been years since I have played that one.

Those giant bezels kill me! All that wasted real estate to make it look original makes no sense. Until they put much bigger monitors in the new cabs I’m not buying. I do like the side panels on this but that’s it.
I like the cabs look alone. The games just not appealing to me...plus not for the price as other better " fun" cabs". I will wait for the next wave. Also arcade 1up needs to listen to gamers and fans " like surveys" to get a better understanding what games " we" want included in cabs. I also believe every cab should include 4- 5 games all different generes to fighting- sidescrollers
We all know we're paying $400 for the cab and graphics because the games are pennies. I feel like Ralph is advertising for them. We know "limited" means jack for A1UP cause we know they would make a variation with the Karate Champ graphic after this. If it is 3000, you would think it's already sold out but NOPE.
Games aren't pennies, as they have to pay for licenses
Retro Ralph already said he wasnt preordering or buying one....they sent him 1 to review and to keep....good on him for letting us all know about the 2 horizontal games that are jacked up before we all found out the hard way.
I'd rather pay 400 for the Burgertime cabinet than 100 for the same thing with the Karate Champ cabinet they originally showed. Also the CEO said during interviews that they weren't going to re-release these games, at least not in the next couple years.
The one they meant jack on was the space invader cab. Limited run..once they sell out they are out... lol..yeah right. Walmart can't sell them out at 149. Burgertimes issue is the lack of appeal for that game title with some folk. It was a no brainer for me..but I can totally see why some would pass on it. Plus yeah...they will make a variation probably sometime down the road. Not limited run though for the pennies that's worth.
Is the volume control like the Turtles cab where it changes by degrees or is it like the old ones with the 3 options? I would guess it's like the Turtles cab but it was in development for so long now I worry that it'll have the 3 volume options toggle... Not that it'll change much since I already preordered it anyway as a birthday present for my spouse, but I've been curious.

Hi great video, can you confirm if it has the scan line option like all the newer cabs?, also going by the artwork on the control panel is the 2nd player controls for a northpaw, i.e using the right stick rather than the standard left stick to control player 2? thanks

Material Defender yeah idk why but the controls bother me... I enjoy the arcade 1up because they normally get pretty close to the original controls atleast for the art work game having so many controls I don’t think I would enjoy playing this... same reason I didn’t get the rampage but atleast the controls on that were correct for the art work... I would of got this if they kept the karate camp art work even tho I like the burger time art work more
I pre ordered this cab, however I wish they used better games for it. Would have been better if they put Donkey Kong, DK Jr, Paperboy, Dig Dug, or even Qbert in the mix. My question is, can you change the pcb's out to play other games? I would love to see an inexpensive way to change out the games, or add new games. Either simply by downloading from a website, or possibly buying a USB preloaded with different games from 1 UPS website.
You're not going to see Nintendo games for some time, as Nintendo takes a pretty hard stance on who and how their games cam be resold. You can bet that if DK or DK jr. ever end up available, they will be limited cabinets all their own. We might see Paperboy if Arcade 1up decides to do another cabinet with a dedicated and specific control scheme as I believe the original had handle bars. As far as the other ideas go, AtGames is doing similar to that, might want to check out the videos on this channel about their arcade
machine.
Donkey Kong is the holy grail....arcade1up gets a DK cab then at that moment they have truly done something!
Might be cool to do a 60 in 1 mod to this cabinet, just an idea.
@@RetroRalph That is what I was thinking. I could care less about Karate Champ, so eliminating the 2 sticks to make room for buttons I would be ok with it.
How many levels on burgertime? I think there should be 6 if it's original arcade ROM. I'm saving my $ for NBA Jam and A1UP pinball.
How does it sound with only having the 1 speaker?
It sounds great, all the games are mono games so no issues with the sound at all IMO.

Yea there only making 3075 until the karate champ cabinet comes out. As in one of the ces videos the main guy at arcade 1up said the karate champ cabinet is coming at some point.

I finally see a cabinet I really want and Arcade 1Up has to be dirty and make this a LIMITED EDITION!!! All us arcade fans DESERVE to have a fair chance at purchasing this game online and in a store!!! I'm not rich so I can't just drop $400 bucks on it... :(
Retro Ralph would be stupid to get this for 400. I would put another 100 and get the Star Wars or the virtual pinball
Honestly, the black bars on the horizontal games doesn't bother me that much. Still happy I preordered and can't wait to put it next to my Pac-Man.
